To further my point about Skylar being a cunt with the kid's carThey had enough money to buy a $300k car washSkylar even made a point to save $75kThey can be allowed to have some spare cash to blow on a reward for the kid
8/22/2011 9:21:04 PM
I don't disagree that Skylar is a cunt, but buying a flashy sports car for their son is a terrible idea on a number of levels. Nobody is going to notice them buying a car wash, especially if they remove themselves from day to day operations. On the other hand everybody (especially at a high school) is going to notice a 16 year old cripple driving a brand new camaro. [Edited on August 23, 2011 at 1:40 AM. Reason : .]

Her whole approach to this is just so damn childish and unnatural (by "this" I mean breaking bad).Walt's approach, by comparison, is very natural. He has some inherent evil or latent sociopathic tendencies to be explored. And he's smart. Does things by memory, and with haste. He understands that the simplest and most elegant solution is usually the best.To be fair to her, though, Walt hasn't divulged the whole picture to her.[Edited on August 23, 2011 at 4:19 PM. Honestly, I take her behavior as typical woman BS anyways. No matter what he goes through things are going to be hard on her and heaven forbid he suggest whatever he is handling is anywhere near equal or that he may ::gasp:: know better.
8/24/2011 9:01:38 AM
^Wholeheartedly agree. Also, I found her mentioning how buying the son a brand new Challenger (I thought it was that) is some how going to get the IRS on their case. That somehow, a neighbor seeing a brand new Challenger is going to make them call the cops. You. bought. a. fucking. business. for. 300. thousand. dollars. I'm pretty sure there are some IRS TAX FORMS that go along with it.Eventually, they have to admit that money is coming in to pay the bills from somewhere, and the gambling scenario its going to get out...especially considering how they told Skylar's sister who I'd imagine is an insane gossip whore, and Hank who I could see bragging about his bro in law's gambling to his cop buddies who come by.

^^ It was $800k. Not 300.
8/24/2011 3:40:45 PM
I disagree with you guys. I usually hate Skyler, but in that last episode, Walt seems to be slipping up in a pretty major way and Skyler was just trying to be smart about it. Walt is gradually losing his sanity.

This season to me, minus the first episode, has been kind of shitty. I'm not just saying that for the lack of action either.
8/24/2011 4:03:24 PM
^^Fair enough I guess. I do remember her calling out the IRS at some point, but not flaunting their wealth within the public could be worthwhile.Although, sounds like she needs to realize
8/24/2011 4:12:09 PM
she's a mother and a wife and her husband deals with some very nasty and violent people (and he is one as well). annoying or not she has every right to be cautious/a "bitch"
8/24/2011 4:38:29 PM
If the car stays around, I could see Walt Jr getting killed in a vehicle wreck.
8/24/2011 4:41:23 PM
motherfucker drives with two feet

8/24/2011 7:21:32 PM
why the hell are you people defending Skylar? WTF.
8/24/2011 9:30:01 PM
Bump for tonight's episode. I like where this season is going.
8/28/2011 9:16:41 PM
so nothing on my comment on saul so far except "interesting", humph
8/28/2011 9:18:28 PM
aw fuck, Hank is going to die.
8/29/2011 11:12:14 AM
I really like Hank's character...I was pissed he was pretty much useless for the last season or so. I think he's going to be the one that brings the series to an end.
8/29/2011 12:57:59 PM
Did anyone notice Gus ask about Walter Jr.'s "mother and father"?Why would he ask that? Did he fuck up? Or am I forgetting something[Edited on August 29, 2011 at 1:41 PM. Reason : .]
8/29/2011 1:25:14 PM
^I don't think Jr. thought anything of that. I think Skyler has probably visited Los Pollos Hermanos before and Jr. was assuming that's why he was asking. I think he was just overselling the friendly fast-food restaurant manager thing. This show just gets better and better with each episode IMO. Jesse's tirade at the 12-step program meeting was really awesome; I think Aaron Paul has done a phenomenal job this season portraying a much darker and more unstable side of Jesse's character. So, what do you guys think the cartel is asking Gus to say "yes or no" to? I think they still want revenge on Walt, Jesse, and/or Hank for the murders of Tuco and the cousins, but I could very well be wrong about that.I also think that Gus and Mike are still playing games with Jesse. It doesn't make sense that they'd be trying to use Jesse to kill Walt (a. Gus still needs Walt; and b. If Gus wanted Walt dead, he could just sic the cartel on him, assuming that's what they're asking him), but it might still make sense that Gus still sees Jesse as a liability because of his on-and-off addiction. In that case, he might be trying to turn Jesse and Walt against once another so that he can allow the cartel to kill Jesse as a compromise and Walt wouldn't mind. At this point, it's kind of hard to tell what's going on, though.
8/29/2011 4:32:40 PM
Gus met the White family in the hospital after Hank got attacked
8/29/2011 4:46:10 PM
I would say Walt killing Tuco and the cousins in nothing compared to what Gus did to cartel's guy in Mexico.
8/29/2011 7:39:36 PM
At this point I think Gus wants to use Jesse to keep an eye out on Walt and to let Gus know if Walt decides to do anything "crazy." Thats all.I also think that Jesse has done so much in the lab that he could closely recreate the product.
8/30/2011 1:46:34 PM
I think the Cartel could give a fuck about "revenge" on Walt. I think Yes or No has to do with Gus either stopping production or paying tribute to the cartels for selling on their turf. WAAAY bigger picture than killing one guy just b/c he smoked some mid/low-level players in your organization.(They may however want Walt dead to stop production of Gus' product!)
8/30/2011 10:06:59 PM
I think they want Walt. Not dead, but to be their cook.
8/30/2011 10:17:55 PM
he could prob recreate the product, but like walt said in previous episodes does jesse know how to test for the purity of the ingredients, account for changes in humidity/barometric pressure for the best productthat is why walt is still important, he will always be able to put out the best product, jesse knows the method, walt know the chemistry

Not particularly related to the show, but FINALLY, it looks like DirecTV is going to get AMC HD - 9/9http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2846915#post2846915http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?p=2846912#post2846912

9/5/2011 10:54:12 AM
yeah now i'm dying to know about his background in Chile
9/5/2011 11:18:13 AM
For those of you on DirecTV DVR, don't forget to re-do your Series Link to record on the newly added HD channel. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed later...

9/12/2011 9:12:44 AM
so I totally missed the Gus being gay thing until I saw Sepinwall mention it in his reviewI just thought they were close like brothers
9/12/2011 1:29:51 PM
^wat?
9/12/2011 2:14:58 PM
^^ wat?
9/12/2011 2:20:32 PM
9/12/2011 2:24:39 PM
hasn't Gus mentioned having a family before?
9/12/2011 2:58:19 PM
I don't think so but I'm not 100%. They obviously don't live with him now. Even if he did eventually have a wife and children, it doesn't really disprove that Gus and that dude that got capped were lovers at the time. Not that it matters much, I don't know why Gilligan couldn't have just come out and confirmed it or denied it. I get kind of tired of directors and showrunners talking so much about leaving things to viewers' interpretation and acting like there's a mysterious deep hidden meaning to every little detail in their movies and tv shows.
9/12/2011 3:37:51 PM
oh i wasn't saying that means he's not gay; being gay doesn't necessarily mean that a person won't have a family before fully accepting themselves i think when Walt had his first sit-down dinner with Gus, he mentioned how family, especially a wife and children, are what's important. then he went on to commiserate with Walt on the struggles of having your own family. maybe his family is back in Chile or something? there's still a lot to Gus' background that needs to be unearthed in the show.
9/12/2011 3:54:30 PM
okay that dinner with Walt is ringing some bells about him talking about his family, I think you're right. I just can't see how him being gay or not with that guy can have a huge impact plot wise for the show. Last night's episode was good though
9/12/2011 4:03:36 PM
Last night's episode was good, but I didn't think it was as great as Sepinwall did (although I usually find myself agreeing with most of what Sepinwall writes about Breaking Bad).I didn't think the Jesse/Walt fight scene was that good; I just don't think they did a good job building up to it, which is strange since Gilligan and Co. have always been masters of building up to stuff like that. That scene should've been more gutwrenching than it was, to me anyway. I still think this season (up to this point) has been the best season of Breaking Bad. Also...
9/12/2011 4:27:17 PM
Yeah, I totally agree about plot points/scenes being left open for interpretation.I just don't understand how his sexuality years ago is one of those situations. He was either gay or he wasn't. How does Gus being gay change anything that's happened or anything that's going to happen? Just seems a bit silly to not answer definitively, imo.Or maybe we'll find out that Gus has a secret crush on Jesse and wants to marry him in a few episodes.
