Keep going east Mofo!

Either curve out to sea or go mainland. Current model favors impact on my hometown/area.

BRING IT ON
8/23/2011 11:23:32 AM
Reading some blogs, says that the 'cane is weakening and is being influenced to keep chugging a little west. Also supposedly a storm system or an L or something (I don't do meteorology so I don't know what it means) sitting out in FL that isn't being considered in the current models. Very interested to see how this plays out.
8/23/2011 11:36:06 AM
I think I might go pick up some batteries at Walmart today, just to be on the safe side (plus, batteries will always be used eventually!)
8/23/2011 11:36:35 AM
Where are you from, Netstorm?
8/23/2011 11:47:31 AM
Now im getting a little more worried. Its projected to make landfall within 10 miles of our beach house...not to mention my cousin has a wedding Saturday down there. Pretty sure thats being moved at the moment. How would this effect flights on friday? certainly Saturday morning I would not be able to fly...but Friday?
8/23/2011 12:40:22 PM
My uncle lives at Topsail beach, 3 rows in from the ocean. Best friend's grandparents have an oceanfront house there (one of the very very few that didn't get obliterated by Fran).Giving it a day before I make my plans to drive down Thursday and help them both board up...
8/23/2011 12:55:04 PM
they said the F word on wral. FLOYD. my stomach jumped. i'm paying attention now. gonna get gas & some water, although we have a filter, tonight. batteries isn't a bad idea either. we have a beach house in emerald isle too. i'm a little nervous. rocky mount has had SO much damn rain lately. we got 4-5" just on sunday. i've never seen the water cover my street like it did. yikes
8/23/2011 12:55:46 PM
Keeps moving further and further east. Looking great for triangle. By friday that path wont even have it making landfall in nc.
8/23/2011 1:17:39 PM
DeltaBeta my home is in Carteret County, Morehead City.
8/23/2011 1:24:19 PM
they keep mentioning a wobble taking it LESS towards the east...and it all depends on this front as to how much it turns. we shall see I guess.
8/23/2011 1:26:59 PM
Stupid storm.
8/23/2011 1:37:49 PM
^^Where do they mention that? Curious.Everything I see has it trending more and more to the east...which is what I figured it would do 2-3 days ago.
8/23/2011 4:35:52 PM
It's been a really long time since I experienced a good hurricane.
8/23/2011 4:40:45 PM
new track from NHC has it even further east than earlier
8/23/2011 5:02:44 PM
Bye bye Irene it was nice knowing ya. At least we have this super cool earthquake to talk about now!
8/23/2011 5:14:30 PM

8/23/2011 8:16:00 PM
Why do we keep downplaying this thing?
8/23/2011 10:03:42 PM
^we downplay it b/c of graphics posted like the one in your post. No direct hit anymore, just a glancing blow really...
8/24/2011 8:58:42 AM
Also because most of us live in Raleigh where it will likely be a sunny day. Once again unless you live on the outer banks I wouldn't be too concerned. Check back tomorrow evening late and see where it's headed.
8/24/2011 9:09:39 AM
Models seem to have a consensus now and track hasn't shifted east much last few NHC updates. Outer Banks landfall still very possible but Raleigh will probably just see rain and a little gusty winds.

hugo or fran
8/24/2011 11:57:15 AM
Fran was so much fun living in Tucker.
8/24/2011 11:59:42 AM
12Z GFS makes a subtle subtle jog back to the west.
8/24/2011 12:21:31 PM
the models are definitely in a pretty decent agreement overall. There is a ~50-75 mile spread, but that's about it... I just don't see it making too much of a move back west, if any... May make landfall on the outerbanks but that's looking like the only chance right now
8/24/2011 2:13:29 PM

Thinking of going to Wrightsville on Friday.
8/24/2011 4:41:59 PM
Does seem to me that the last two model runs are moving a little more west.
8/24/2011 5:10:28 PM
In-laws live in Moorehead City. Good thing they rent.
8/24/2011 5:13:26 PM
^^everyone EXCEPT The Weather Channel is now stating that it has moved a little more west and could be a threat given the timing of the front.TWC just acts like it 'aint no thang'
8/24/2011 5:24:34 PM
starting to thinnk about it a bit more......
8/24/2011 5:28:48 PM
How much rain yall think we will see Fri/Sat/Sun in Raleigh? I'm supposed to work 7am-2pm Saturday and Sunday outside. If we get rain, I will be off for the weekend. If we don't get much rain, I won't have fun Friday or Saturday nights.
8/24/2011 5:29:58 PM
Why would anyone ever watch The Weather Channel? "Mos Eisley spaceport The Weather Channel: You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Hatteras island all of Dare county will have a mandatory evacuation for tourists beginning 8am tomorrow morning.[Edited on August 24, 2011 at 7:07 PM. Reason : tww action news update]
8/24/2011 6:54:36 PM
Do I count as a tourist if I planned to drive down there friday for the party?
8/24/2011 7:17:11 PM
I'm pretty sure you have enough meteorological knowledge to at least bs your way past any check points.
8/24/2011 7:18:46 PM
I'll just be like dude the best place to be is on the beach nothing can fall on you! Maybe I should make some fake media credentials and roll in an unmarked white van! I should probably take the free candy sign off the side first though. Maybe throw up a TWW Action News sticker.
