that dress is extremely plain compared to what I had thought of when reading the book

looks like katniss starts with the pin and gives it to prim...interesting change...
2/2/2012 6:30:04 PM
Seems kinda dumb
2/2/2012 6:55:16 PM
^^it makes me wonder if madge is in the story at all bc (iirc) that was kind of her only role in the plot
2/2/2012 8:18:19 PM
^she has a slightly more important role in catching fire, but from what i've heard she isn't in the movies at all
2/2/2012 8:32:21 PM
2/2/2012 8:36:37 PM
And the book thread was made after that post

Bad move, if that's really accurate. The pin was the symbol for the rest of the districts, it's what made her the mockingjay. By putting it on Prim it really throws all of that out the window.[Edited on February 3, 2012 at 6:52 AM. Reason : ]

katniss still ends up with it in the arena. at the end of that most recent trailer you her and cinna looking at it.
2/3/2012 7:11:35 AM
^Looks like Cinna is the one wearing it though...maybe he gives it back to her?I liked what Madge represented in the second book so if she's gone comepletely from the series it will take away from everything.
2/3/2012 7:34:30 AM
^ Really?? It will take away from EVERYTHING?? Calm down people...
2/3/2012 7:41:03 AM
Madge is not a particularly important character.
2/3/2012 8:21:10 AM
Really, the only importance to Madge is her aunt's history, and that she gives Katniss the pin. But if she ends up with it in the arena anyways, it shouldn't affect the movie too much.
2/3/2012 9:44:58 AM
Madge gives a different dimension to Katniss' personality that won't be there anymore. She also personifies a different kind of D12 lifestyle that likely won't even be shown in the movie now.
2/3/2012 9:56:59 AM
They can do that through Haymitch and the luxury that was afforded him after winning the games.
2/3/2012 12:50:12 PM
there's a huge difference between a middle aged alcoholic and a teenage girl who is the closest thing to a friend katniss has besides gale
2/3/2012 12:55:01 PM
i do agree the friendship with Madge is an important element to Katniss's character but i do not agree that it will affect the overall movie. the movie cant follow the book verbatim for timing and budget reasons so the cutting of Madge isn't that big of a deal, IMO. how Katniss actually gets the mockingjay pin is irrelevant, just as long as she gets it.
2/3/2012 2:02:34 PM
i feel cutting madge out of the movie changes the story somewhat significantly. unless they have some other way of showing katniss having an actual friend other than gale or peeta.
2/3/2012 9:18:34 PM
http://www.nextmovie.com/blog/hunger-games-scenes-cut/5 Scenes that probably won't make it to the movie. And these will obviously will:[Edited on February 4, 2012 at 5:19 AM. Reason : ]

agreedthey probably want him to have a larger role in the movie though
2/4/2012 12:27:25 PM
It would mostly screw with the second film, since so much happens outside of the arena that we are not supposed to know about until afterwards...they can't show outside reactions to the 74th games and then not do it for the 75th...
2/4/2012 2:31:56 PM
it would be better for the story if they spent time during flashbacks developing the other characters, rather than showing them in the present as they watch/react to the games
2/4/2012 2:55:38 PM
so pre-sale tickets are already being sold, and they've beaten out that other book following about sparkly vampires. http://www.iwatchstuff.com/mt/mt-search.cgi?tag=hunger%20games&blog_id=1 and if you didn't know, like i did *grrrr*, it's being shown at IMAX

3/21/2012 4:25:54 AM
Why are people so obsessed with this stupid crap. what is this, 1984 meets Twilight.
3/21/2012 1:13:21 PM
3/21/2012 1:21:04 PM
I love these books but do not like twilight at all.
3/21/2012 1:25:04 PM
i wouldn't say the hunger games are comparable to twilight other than the sci-fi/fantasy aspect, but that's only my opinion
3/21/2012 5:11:28 PM
sci/fi perhaps, but fantasy? no.
3/21/2012 5:25:05 PM
Let me know if this is good. Haven't read the books, but I keep hearing comparisons of this movie to Battle Royale.[Edited on March 21, 2012 at 5:31 PM. Reason : .]
3/21/2012 5:29:22 PM
^That's because they're essentially the same premise.Books were great. I think comparisons to Twilight are only in relation to how quickly popularized they became, and that they are very easy reads. I can't think of anything else the books have in common.
3/21/2012 6:03:05 PM
Anyone else trying to catch this flick at the mission valley cinema??
3/21/2012 8:23:24 PM

3/21/2012 10:35:09 PM
I'm excited but I won't be able to see it right away.

3/22/2012 10:36:52 AM
