I didn't quite just learn it, but had never really thought about the fact that there were manual SUVs before. Obviously there would be, but I don't think I'd ever ridden in one or thought about the fact they existed. Yesterday I rode in two.
6/16/2011 9:56:14 AM
^would it blow you mind to know that once upon a time ALL cars had manual transmissions?
6/16/2011 10:03:02 AM
3 ply toilet paper still rips just as easy if you wipe too vigorously.
6/16/2011 10:08:33 AM
^^ I mean, I know. Like I said, it wasn't that I had my mind blown by this revelation. I just realized it was something that had never crossed my mind.
6/16/2011 10:49:34 AM
expectorating1. Cough or spit out phlegm from the throat or lungs.2. Spit out (phlegm) in this way. The things you learn from Disney's Beauty and the Beast
6/16/2011 2:12:21 PM
^Is this commonly known?
6/16/2011 2:13:09 PM
The stuff around babies still in the womb is "amniotic fluid" not abniotic fluid. Who knew?
6/16/2011 2:46:10 PM
so much for "commonly" known facts.this isn't the random shit thread...
6/16/2011 2:51:11 PM
Which facts are you saying aren't commonly known?
6/16/2011 2:52:29 PM
The last two. Not yours
6/16/2011 2:53:14 PM
I would say those are commonly known though.
6/16/2011 2:54:25 PM
i've never heard of the term expectorating and i've never heard anyone call amniotic fluid abniotic fluid.guess I'm an exception, not the norm
6/16/2011 2:56:12 PM
6/16/2011 2:56:24 PM
6/16/2011 2:57:13 PM
exactly. i've never heard anyone accidentally call it something else, and apparently neither has the guy that posted before you.
6/16/2011 2:58:20 PM
Reread what he posted. He thought it was called abniotic. His fact was that it is really amniotic, which he did not know.
6/16/2011 3:00:38 PM

^Me too
6/16/2011 3:02:55 PM

6/16/2011 3:09:11 PM
Ever noticed on bottles of robitussin DM it says "cough suppressant and expectorant?" That's what caused me to learn expectorate, I think.
6/16/2011 3:26:17 PM
Abniotic fluid sounds like something that would give your baby abs. A ripped baby would be pretty creepy though.
6/16/2011 3:46:35 PM
I'm a red-head, and I have 2 kids that are red-heads and I had never heard of the term ginger being used to describe us until about a year ago.
6/22/2011 12:28:04 PM
Can blame Southpark for that.
6/22/2011 12:28:54 PM
Cellar spiders = daddy long legs (I always thought you just called harvestmen daddy long legs)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellar_spiderI don't feel so bad about seeing a few of these guys in my house now.. especially after seeing they eat a ton of bugs I hate, including their own kind
8/4/2011 12:20:01 AM
The word drown actually implies that you died. I thought you could drown and be saved but that's a near-drowning.

I think it was in this thread where I mentioned the whole epitome vs apitomy problem I used to have...well yesterday on NPR I heard a guy (caller on Talk of the Nation, I think) say "epitome"
10/12/2011 3:27:39 PM
10/12/2011 3:46:18 PM
Ahah, what I consider a daddy longlegs is the Opiliones spider.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvestman[Edited on October 12, 2011 at 3:55 PM. Reason : not a spider apparently!]
10/12/2011 3:53:01 PM
^Those are what I call the daddy longlegs. I also used to believe the "most venomous" myth, but as the myth indicates they cannot actually bite you, I was quite content to play with them if I found one. Though I always felt kind of bad if one of the legs fell off, and usually let it go on its (non) spidery way at that point.
10/12/2011 4:19:16 PM
ive never heard a cranefly be called a daddy long legsmakes me wonder what kinds of misunderstandings i may have had during conversations in the past
