^^ no, it's on the 400 block of south mcdowelldunno what place you're talking about...finch's?bobby flay is a master of putting chipotle in things, and not much else
6/16/2011 2:17:08 AM
^His food being nothing special doesn't really affect Iron Chef. Executing quickly and consistently has always pretty much determined the winner. And yeah he's probably thinking about Finch's. Pretty much fits the bill.
6/16/2011 2:21:04 AM
it's up the the street that goes to peace, not sure about that place though, on the south side have to check it out

the groupon yesterday was for cafe tiramisu. in n raleigh, but delicious italian food. it is like one inch big though and always crowded as shit. and yea pooles is delicious. the inside is a diner theme. the food...not diner food. menu always changing. a lot of unique ingredients and pairings. def worth going sometime if you haven't.and when does her iron chef episode air? do we know? someone prob mentioned it on the last page but i am lazy.
6/16/2011 7:42:12 AM
The episode will air on July 24th at 10pm.

^ just realized i posted that bad rap against Tiramisu a couple pages ago...maybe i need to try them again before passing judgement
6/24/2011 7:38:28 PM
^^ Food is fine but nothing special, especially for the price. The cake, on the other hand...
6/24/2011 8:51:27 PM
^^^ The owner (may be past owner for all I know) was a bitch the one time I went in there. But that was also 10+ years ago so maybe I caught her on a bad night
6/24/2011 9:33:28 PM
going to tribeca tomorrow night! nom nom nom
6/24/2011 9:33:46 PM
technically not raleigh...but fuquayanyone been to aviator smokehouse yet? It is across from the taphouse and the menu looks goodhttp://www.aviatorsmokehouse.com/resources/SmokeHouse+Menu+3+12.pdf

So I'm gonna be down in Raleigh on Saturday with some peeps and need something resonably quick (not fast food necessarily) because we're not gonna have a lot of time.I had to be the guy to say "lets go somewhere cool for lunch" so if it sucks I'm sure to get mocked Suggestions?[Edited on August 9, 2011 at 12:05 PM. Where in Raleigh? Downtown? Brier Creek? North Hills?
8/9/2011 12:05:48 PM
just go to the big easy
8/9/2011 12:07:47 PM
^^ I actually have no idea yet. It's a wedding but I don't know where it's at.
8/9/2011 1:22:48 PM
If you're craving some Indian, I suggest Azitra or Zayka in Brier Creek, both are pretty quality.
8/9/2011 1:26:46 PM
8/9/2011 1:30:44 PM
If you want somewhere hipster pretentious but with tasty lunch and really good coffee I recommend Wilmoore Cafe downtown. I really like the atmosphere of that place but my husband makes fun of me for it For some great authentic Mexican there's Rancho Grande. The place looks like a total dive and they don't speak English but their food is the tits. If you want to be so full you'll likely puke at the wedding, go to Tribeca Tavern. I fucking love their burgers but I pretty much have to go on hunger strike the entire day to be hungry enough for one
8/9/2011 1:31:32 PM
Puking would be bad since we're DJing the reception
8/9/2011 1:35:20 PM
^^^ Bella Monica is damn good, but its tiny and always packed so get there early or get it to-go.
8/9/2011 1:54:47 PM
^
8/9/2011 1:56:42 PM
Some people seem to love the peddler i think its ok but i don't like the atmosphere... Jimmy V's is my steak house of choice.
8/9/2011 1:58:50 PM
i just wanted to reiterate my love for midtownand poolesi could eat those places all day everyday. i think those are prob my two favs (if i had all the bling bling to spend anyway)my less blingin fav at the moment would prob be capital club 16and the ole standby is always and forever, the raleigh times
8/9/2011 9:47:08 PM
Beasley's Chicken & Honey should be open next Tuesday btw
8/9/2011 10:05:52 PM
Never been to the Peddler...if I'm going to eat a steak out its gonna be Angus Barn, hands down
8/9/2011 11:01:09 PM
I see myself as a little bit of a foody (don't judge me because I run a pizza bar)and I honestly, comfortably say that Angus Barn is the most overrated racket of a business I've ever indulged in. Just, wow. Been there twice, had a big steak and a big tater and some roasted tomato quarter, that ran me about $40. I laughed after I ate last time and vowed to never be duped into going again. You can get a better steak at COUNTLESS places. Namely, Sullivan's or Porters, just to start.but, if I have to vote about my personal favorites in Raleigh, I'd go with:Hot Point Deli (OK, Cary)SittiRaleigh Times (arguably, nothing extravagant, but damn good none the less)Fai Thai (though I did hear it closed recently??? twould be a major shame)To be fair, there are surely dozens of good places I have yet to try--several in this thread, actually. and oh fuck yes, khcadwal, Midtown is fucking AWESOME. haven' been there in months. Thank you.[Edited on August 9, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason : fasdssd][Edited on August 9, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Reason : dddddd]

angus barn ftw with the cheese and crackers and relish trayi liked sullivan's way more for the steak though. omg. omnomnom.
8/9/2011 11:11:05 PM
cheese and crackers and relish =/= $40. I can spin that shit up in my kitchen.I've never been to Poole's Diner. Britt and I always talk about going, then don't. We do stuff like that a lot.Matter of fact, I told tschudi we'd be at Neptune's last week.never left the house.[Edited on August 9, 2011 at 11:14 PM. Reason : fddsdsaa3]

this is truei just like snacksand HELL YES i want to go back to midtown asap.and yes, pooles. you gotta try. i have never been sad wth anything i've sampled there![Edited on August 9, 2011 at 11:16 PM. Reason : .]
8/9/2011 11:15:09 PM
I still have never eaten at Sittibut yeah Fai Thai is no more
8/9/2011 11:18:21 PM
darn, i saw the drama in the first two pages but then it all quit and i was sad
8/9/2011 11:23:51 PM
Sitti is mighty tasty. It took me a couple of trips to know what the hell i was ordering, but I've sampled about 8 dishes there, and have been fucking blown away by all of them.
8/9/2011 11:32:14 PM
sitti has some amazing hummus...huge fan of gravy next door as wellwent to zely and ritz last week and had a new york strip covered in blackberries...so deliciousany opinions on babylon or the rockford?]
8/10/2011 12:28:33 AM
i've heard good things about sitti! we're going there for my bday dinner sunday night om nom nom
8/10/2011 6:47:45 AM
Damn Fai Thai closed already???? That didn't last long at all Are ya'll sure about that because I drove by it two weekends ago and it was open. If it's true it's a shame because their food was pretty good. Not your typical Thai that you find everywhere else around here.
8/10/2011 9:26:33 AM
The main reason I enjoy the Angus Barn is that often have varying types of game on the menu. Had some venison there one time that was damn awesome. Their Prime Rib isn't bad either. If you're in the mood for Irish Pub fare I suggest Trali...its pretty tasty!
8/10/2011 9:29:12 AM
i like angus barn b/c it is NOT alacarte. i get the cheese/crackers, relish tray, big salad, toast/bread, and my entree which is 7 oz filet and half-rack of ribs WITH choice of side.... all for $40there is noway you get ALL that food for only 40 bucks at sullivans or any upscale steakhouse in raleigh...
8/10/2011 9:49:11 AM
ya know, it just ain' that damn good.
8/10/2011 9:51:19 AM
not like i can afford to go there a lot anyway, but fun to debate.i need to try some new places anyway
8/10/2011 9:53:04 AM
There are much better places in Raleigh, IMO. Get out!
8/10/2011 9:54:19 AM
8/10/2011 9:56:19 AM
hey, I wasn't saying Sullivan's is cheaper. just FAR better food.
8/10/2011 9:58:10 AM
8/10/2011 9:58:29 AM
yep.
8/10/2011 9:59:02 AM
^^Oh i know, i'd rather go to outback or a similar restaurant anyday...i was just replyin to the angus barn commenti rarely eat steak anyway. i'm more of a ribs, pork, chicken guy[Edited on August 10, 2011 at 10:02 AM. Reason : ya]

^^ I went there for the first time a few months ago and it was indeed tasty. But yeah, for some reason we never think to go there. Probably because I hate the Crossroads area with a passion.^ Fearrington House, Second Empire, Magnolia Grill, Rue Cler, Weathervane, Poole's and I'm sure plenty of others. Only thing that sucks is there's never a guarantee steak will be on the menu the night you go.[Edited on August 10, 2011 at 10:17 AM. Reason : a]
