while that looks awesome, i was kinda hoping based on the initial teasers that it wouldn't be a huge CGI fest. i'll still thoroughly enjoy it though

The plot is similar as spiderman, just simply repeating the basic superman story. Nothing special.

so he kind of faults Snyder for doing exactly what he was expected to do and the script for being "too serious" something we knew it was going to be. From day one of this reboot we've been told that traditional Superman is too hokey for modern day America and now this film isn't hokey enough. oook.

I never keep up with any of this who did what stuff but that article pointed out that the director of this also directed Sucker Punch. I still want to see this one but I have to admit, that realization lowered my hopes.

He was referring to the charm of Christopher Reeve. Not a stone faced unemotional version that Henry Cavill allegedly presents. I'll still check this out because I like to be the judge for myself.

LOL at the reviews saying it is too serious... I am looking forward to a more grown up and intense superman.

the problem is that Zack Snyder wrote Sucker Punch. It's a visually impressive movie which is what he is great at. See his other works (300, Watchmen) where he didn't have a hand in the script. Just like with Man of Steel.

Just saw it, and thought it was really good. Enjoyed from beginning to end. The action was very intense and used well. And I like the fact that they showed Supes as a Super Man and not just invincible. Looking fwd to seeing where they go from here.

What sux is there was no moment after the movie. Would have thought they learned something from Marvel.

I did see Lexcorp Truck in movie lol.

And apparently if you read the movie prequel comic it goes into detail about a certain passenger on the ship in the artic that we didn't see at all in the film

This is what I said about it on fb.

Quote :
"It was so freaking amazing. (I know nothing of this comic) EPIC fight scenes that were kind of mind blowing. I am so sad to say almost every scene with Amy Adams was horrible. Very sad bc I like her."

Henry Cavill is superhumanly gorgeous. I want to know how in the hell did he get those crazy large muscles on his usually rather lean body. He has been muscular before but holy hell, my brother and I both thought they enhanced him with CGI. ha! It was kind of creepy but I am pretty sure someone is going to bust my chops for saying such blasphemy because he is too gorgeous to be human.

everything i've read in prep of the film he bulked up. most actors usually do, and i'm sure there's still some CGI enhancement there...but he bulked up for the role.

So if you read the prequel comic, the ship in the artic that had the genesis chamber was originally piloted by kara zor-el (supergirl) and if you notice, one cryostasis pod is open. Whether or not they actually do anything with this, who knows.

Noticed the open pod, was wondering where that might lead. Interesting that was Kara.

Saw it today at Imax 3D. I thought the 3D added some pretty good effects to it, particularly the flying scenes...

There were a couple goose bump moments in the movie... the first time he flew and the scene where he rescued lois from space.

I enjoyed the movie overall. I thought the transition to superman was definitely pretty quick, but I'm not complaining. I'm glad they didn't drag it out. I also thought there would be more superman moments before actually encountering Zod... All the superman moments were before he was actually superman, but that's OK.

Also, I loved the way they ended it. I was wondering if they were going to finish that way, and they didn't disappoint.

Agreed on the thoughts of allowing the "super" moments be before he officially donned the cape. And I like how they did not drag out the story of him becoming Supes. They left a lot of room for future installments and ability to to draw back from the past.

Best Superman ever. I will be going back to see it again. Can't wait for the next one.

I liked how they had Smallville on the water tower and Lex Corp on a truck and that building.

I liked it even though I don't really care for Superman that much in general.

The fight scenes were good but how many times did they need to have Superman and Zod/somebody else going full speed at each other and colliding and their momentum damaging 800 buildings? Got kind of old to me.

A fair point but honestly it's been so long since he's brawled on screen that it makes up for lost time.

I think in Returns he never threw a single punch.

I am still reeling. A very long review is forthcoming.

SPOILER ALERT!

I overall liked it. thought it was the best superman to date and I just watched superman II the other night for a little comparison. I thought Russell Crowe did a good Marlon Brando (lol). and I thought Faora-Ul ,Zod's wife/second in command did the damn thing. I thought she was better than Zod, who didn't really do a damn thing. Zack knows cinematography. there were great still shots. I dont get the shacky cam but I saw it in IMAX so..

things that threw me off:

I felt like no one, and I mean no one, was reacting to all the shit that was happening around them. it was actually like the cast was looking at a green screen( i know they were). From Krypton blowing up to Metropolis getting it's shit pushed in, it felt like people were standing around have no real reactions to what's happening. thus it create no tension from me. there was literally one scene where buildings were falling everywhere, all war and hell was falling from the sky and Lawrence Fatburns turns to everyone and says, "hey lets get out the building now"... WTF weren't you people doing that from the jump. I would have had plane tickets already. I would have already held a movement underground.

the fighting in the IHOP jumped the shark for me. they were in IHOP my niggas. IHOP.

there was a whole lot more fighting than i thought. but the past supermans didn't fight no one so I digress . Not enough Kevin Coaster. i thought he did well with the limit screen time.

why the hell would you sent war criminals to the phantom zone and give them a war ship? that made no sense to me. they also had a court hearing moments before the planet blew up. what's the point? it's like they didn't take their planet dying seriously enough.

once you star in Law and Order SVU this gives you a license to never die or be hurt ..well until you die.

I know superman is an allegory for Jesus Christ but they milked the hell out of it in this film. nice scene tho. it was like the matrix. we get it buddy, Neo is Jesus.

Lois lane sucks but she knows who superman is and i like that.

I dont like the superman character . I'm a batman fan but Ill get the DVD.

This movies was just alright.

It drug on too much at times.

I didn't like the shaky cam. I think that's what n00b is talking about.

There was a fuck ton of damage happening when the machine was changing earth's gravity and superman was fighting, but when they showed the whole city, lots of buildings were still in perfect shape on the perimeter of metropolis.

Michael Shannon overacted at times.

^^ the court proceedings and the destruction of the planet were not that close together, it could have been months. We also dont know if their were guards on the phantom zone ship. When they saw that krypton was gone they probably thawed out zod. He definitely had more people than he was frozen with

This. The action was very repetitive as well. Superman flys into to zod, they crash through a few sky scrapers. Zod flys into superman, they crash through a few sky scrapers. A lot the fighting boiled down to two invincible people fighting and taking no damage. Superman's hair, suit and cape are apparently invincible as well.

Also, why did zod and crew get weak on the ship when they changed the atmosphere to be more earthlike but then a few moments later they had the same power as superman on earth?

I think it was still a good movie and I enjoyed it. I just think they go over the top with the fighting sequences sometimes. It was almost transformer like.
