Sounds like the figure you entered didn't match the figure used last year.

I used VITA last year...created a random PIN yyyyy...couldn't remember it when I was filling out this year's return so I looked it up on the IRS site. It gave me xxxxx...I used xxxxx and then got that rejection. I found my 2009 return and the PIN was yyyyy. Should I use yyyyy? Why does the IRS site have a different record then?
3/14/2011 7:32:19 PM
Screw the pin and just use your previous years agi.
3/14/2011 11:40:24 PM
damn, nc is extra slow on the returns this year
3/15/2011 3:31:34 PM
Day 17 for me. Had my federal return for over a week now....still no NC State return. I am sure its going to take 30-45 days this time!
3/16/2011 7:42:36 AM
I'm on exactly a month today for state...Federal came back in less than 2 weeks
3/16/2011 11:15:37 AM
my colleague asked me if she has to file taxes for her mom who has no income at all? i have no clue but wanted to check with you guys
3/16/2011 11:26:05 AM
32 days for me and still nothing ^^get yours yet wlb?[Edited on March 30, 2011 at 5:39 PM. Reason : .]
3/30/2011 5:38:31 PM
I always owe the state. Over 200 this year. I'll make them wait like they make you guys wait. Until the deadline of course
3/30/2011 5:51:19 PM
^^ It took exactly a month for me to get my state refund.
3/30/2011 6:25:12 PM
Hmmm. You guys are starting to make me think I need to start a Wolf Web special in 2012. You'd trust an NCSU educated CPA, right?
3/30/2011 9:07:58 PM
It'll be 60 days for me on April 9 that I have not received my state return. I called my tax lady today to talk to her about it. She said it was approved so I should get it soon.
3/30/2011 9:11:37 PM
^^^ and ^ Did you guys use Turbo Tax, file yourself, or use a service?
3/31/2011 7:26:12 AM
I'm going to have to file an extension. I've been expecting a corrected W2 and still haven't gotten it yet. I don't want to file with the wrong one just to file an amended return later.Anyone filed an extension? Is this a big deal or no?
3/31/2011 7:43:53 AM
pay something with the extension if you think you're going to owestill without my state refund... filed about the 2nd week of February
3/31/2011 7:52:24 AM
I'll be getting more back with the W2-C. Won't have to pay either way.
3/31/2011 7:56:04 AM
word. extensions aren't a big deal at all

Anyone get their state refund yet? I e-filed and did direct deposit on March 2. I know they took forever last year, just wondering how long I can expect to wait this year.Update:
3/31/2011 9:58:47 AM
too many people rely on their tax return ITT.
3/31/2011 10:16:20 AM
Nah, I don't need it. It's only $231. But it's still my money
3/31/2011 10:18:39 AM
3/31/2011 10:27:12 AM
I'm not relying on it at all...but I get the "first time home buyer's refund" and I was going to do some immediate home additions rather than wait a year or two. I'm getting around $8,000 back, and I've got about $2,000 spent in my head...going to sack the rest away to savings.
3/31/2011 10:58:41 AM
3/31/2011 12:43:12 PM
^^why did you wait until now to file for "first time homeowner"? I did it as soon as I closed on the house.
3/31/2011 1:01:27 PM
3/31/2011 1:23:36 PM
I filed the amendment to my last year tax.
3/31/2011 1:52:22 PM
Ahhh. Yeah...I guess I just didn't see the rush.

I owed State last year so of course I had it paid in April. My girlfriend got like $2k back from State last year and didn't get it until August. They said on the news that it wasn't going to be like that again this year, but I'll believe it when i see it. They sure as hell didn't take their time cashing the check I sent them last year.
3/31/2011 2:47:53 PM
If I've never claimed any of my student loan interest and decide to itemize this year, can I use the figure from "Total Interest Paid" ?Or do you technically "waive" that each year by taking the standard deduction?
3/31/2011 6:40:06 PM
says mine will be deposited tomorrow.I hope I'm not getting fooled
3/31/2011 7:03:25 PM
3/31/2011 8:14:41 PM
Oh that makes sense. I actually even read that keynote and still overlooked it. Is it worth amending each year? I wish I could just enter the total in the one blank
4/1/2011 4:52:42 AM
^ Bad idea. It might be the same amount of money, but it's not liable to be looked at favorably. Do the amendments, it'll be pretty quick.
4/1/2011 7:55:26 AM
There is a statute of limitations on amendments. It gets wordy but a good rule of thumb is you are out of luck if it is more than three years.
4/1/2011 8:04:55 AM
Day 34...still nothing....give me my $981
4/1/2011 2:30:47 PM
4/1/2011 6:54:25 PM
woot. my federal was deposited today
4/1/2011 6:55:28 PM
doesn't really pertain to 2011....but, http://www.newsobserver.com/2011/04/04/1103382/state-quietly-clearing-backlog.html
4/4/2011 9:31:21 AM
this is a silly question, but I'm about to paper file my federal tax return. Do I have to include all my W2/1099/1098/receipts when I send it in to the IRS? I've always E-filed, so I never know how paper file supposed to work.
4/5/2011 12:27:01 PM
38 days and countying....starting to push the 45 day guarantee.
4/5/2011 6:52:42 PM
How does the state determine who gets refunds when? My girlfriend got hers back today and just filed 2 weeks ago. I'm going on 2 months.
4/6/2011 10:41:36 AM
I am guessing it has something to do with amounts. I got 100 or so back last year and it came fast. I was curious as to why everyone was bitching about a delay. This year I am around 1000 and it has been 40 days.
4/6/2011 11:21:16 AM
4/6/2011 12:43:05 PM
^^ my girlfriend got back $2k and I am only expecting $250. So it definitely isn't that^ and SWEET, I just checked mine and got the same message. It would be nice to get it tomorrow for my trip to ATL this weekend.[Edited on April 6, 2011 at 1:23 PM. Reason : a]
