without checking, i'm gonna bet those other corners were in loaded drafts, or at least ones that had a clear cut #1 pick (or several to choose from). this is the weakest draft i can remember, so i'm thinking if a really good player fits yours needs, you take him regardless of where it is

4/26/2011 11:04:27 PM
Apparently the latest rumblings are that the Panthers aren't sold on Newton and are high on AJ Green. At least they wouldn't have to pay him $50 million.:/
4/26/2011 11:13:49 PM
i will LOL if the Panthers draft anything other than a defensive player. I'd go with Peterson. He is the most talented and most ready player in the entire draft that can do multiple things for your club. Why reach for a QB that won't be ready for a few years or a WR that has nobody to throw it to him? Anybody in charlotte that expects the panthers to be any good next year or the next are fooling themselves anyways. They should build for the future by getting the best players they can.

4/27/2011 12:13:38 AM
you know, as lukewarm as I am on Newton I really hope they dont blow the #1 on AJ Green. We've been down this road with Smith. If your QB sucks your WRs don't mean shit
4/27/2011 12:40:55 AM
^^we have the #1 pick in this year's draft and you're talking about next yearway to post up to your stereotypePetersen = safe pick, good player in the league for many yearsDareus = Emeka Okafor of Defensive Tackles...solid but already at his ceiling and not Ndamkong caliberGreen = tremendous wideout but lacks stud WR speed, still that didn't stop Jerry RiceFairley = more upside than Marcell but serious work ethic questionsNewton = best upside but worst downside, probably won't legitimately contribute for a year or two minimum but could be someone that defensive coordinators around the league shit themselves over gameplanningI really don't see any other possible players the Cats would draft unless they trade down which I would optimally want over taking any of those guys 1st overall[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 12:47 AM. 4/27/2011 11:34:54 AM
I dreamed last night Tennessee traded up to #1 and took Gabbert.
4/27/2011 11:37:21 AM
Yeah I think our only chance to trade down is if someone is sold on Newton or Gabbert as a franchise QB.
4/27/2011 11:46:31 AM
4/27/2011 11:48:12 AM
pretty sure they're sticking with 4-3[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 11:54 AM. Reason : for now...]
4/27/2011 11:54:13 AM
Anybody watch the Bill Parcells draft confidential last night? Had Nate Irving as the only ILB to have a first round grade. Pretty amazing considering all these mock draft "experts" have him as a 4th rounder
4/27/2011 12:08:04 PM
4/27/2011 12:17:55 PM
At least it's exciting this year not knowing who the #1 pick will be. The last few drafts have had guys sign contracts days before the draft even began.
4/27/2011 12:18:54 PM
4/27/2011 12:23:27 PM
^^and teams would still use their whole time allotment to pick #1, which might be the most frustrating thing ever[Edited on April 27, 2011 at 12:24 PM. Reason : juym]

I would be shocked if Nate got picked before the 3rd round.

People like a white running back, kind of like they like a black golfer.
4/28/2011 12:50:35 AM
ESPN has Nate as the 8th best ILB and 148th overall.Kiper suggests Carolina should take A.J. Green while McShay says Marcell Dareus. ]
4/28/2011 12:51:43 AM
^^those two things are TOTALLY analogous[Edited on April 28, 2011 at 12:52 AM. Reason : dumb post is dumb]
4/28/2011 12:52:03 AM
Should be awesome tomorrow... The draft with the biggest number of unknowns of any draft I can remember
4/28/2011 12:55:52 AM
Just the other day McShay was saying he thought the Panthers should take Blaine Leaf #1Fuck him and kiper, they're just agent puppets
4/28/2011 12:58:04 AM
that was easily the best thing to come out of the John Blake saga
4/28/2011 1:01:36 AM
4/28/2011 1:07:40 AM
Dunno about the best thing, id argue UNC being dragged through the mud the last 9 monthsBut it was definitely enlightening and while a guy like Kiper might be able to spout off a 5 minute description about a 6th round right guard, its clear he has an agenda
4/28/2011 1:08:01 AM
it's the best thing pending an actual decision on UNC football
4/28/2011 1:10:17 AM
Any word as to how many prongs have been plugged?

yepTiger only has his own video game franchise because he's blackyou've solved itcongrats[Edited on April 28, 2011 at 2:14 AM. Reason : I think you may have had one too many white wine spritzers tonight]
4/28/2011 2:01:39 AM
And I'm sure no black people are fans of Tiger Woods despite not really caring about Golf because he's black.I can't really tell what you're problem with the argument is.
4/28/2011 10:09:10 AM
If you had said black QB this wouldn't be an issue
4/28/2011 10:13:04 AM
Argument would only be valid if Hillis was at CJ2K/Peterson levelor conversely, if Woods was at a Jim Furyk/Zach Johnson level
4/28/2011 10:20:56 AM
There are plenty of those though compared to white running backs. Maybe black kicker.Tell me people wouldn't like a black kicker.[Edited on April 28, 2011 at 10:22 AM. Reason : ]

4/28/2011 10:52:37 AM
I'm too lazy to make a new one or bump the old chargers thread but I wonder what they are gonna do without sproles.
4/28/2011 12:56:56 PM
Same thing they did last yearThrow every play and hand off to Matthews whenever Rivers' arm gets tired
4/28/2011 1:08:57 PM
Probably be exactly the same.Sproles has a few nice plays but he's not the player he was 3 years ago. He's actually a below average kick returner now.
4/28/2011 1:10:46 PM
lol @ these mock drafts. For the redskins at 10 i've seen Quinn, Jones, Amukamara and Jake Locker on different drafts. No one has a clue...which is sad, cuz the redskins probably don't either

^ if the cats don't pick newton, i think he'll slide out of the top 10. also, i don't see any way quinn is still around at 13. otherwise entirely plausible (except gabbert might be too high as well)
