Just my opinion, but if you're going to have a $3 pint night you better have a selection like Saucer or Tyler's. I'm not sure what this place has, but if it's like Bada pint night with only like 10 pulls it's tough to draw in a crowd for a $3 pint night.

The shopping center has prohibited the Pub from unleashing a flag. The company, Weingarten Realty in Houston TX allows no flags or pennants at any of its 200 centers nationwide.

Bars don't have chefs, they have kitchen managers...

Been there for trivia night a couple times.

The wings my roommate got were all sorts of meh, not anywhere close to enough sauce.
The burger I got was pretty good but not really worth the price IMO. Not that moderately overpriced food is unusual at bars.

Seemed like they had an okay bottled beer selection, though, and the beer prices weren't bad... But really their biggest draw is the fact that they're within comfortable walking distance from my apartment.

Also, lol at everyone in this thread mentioning the HTML-sign on their website. We actually mentioned the website to the owner and he assured us that he had a professional working on the real site and that the one there now is just a placeholder.

I went there for lunch yesterday and had a turkey sandwich and salad. The food was really good and fresh. Much better than the greasy bar food of Jax.

The turkey sandwich and a salad werent greasy? must be because of their Executive Chef

ate there today... got a burger and maccaroni and cheese side- both were pretty good! The burger could have used some sort of sauce (or have a softer, moister bun), but the mac and cheese was great!

*note: I put hot sauce on my mac and cheese too, but it was good without it too

Had lunch there today... one of the few places that actually makes their own burger patties so I could order it medium rare... fries are home made also.

It was surprisingly good and they even have a micro brew selection (bottled) that I was impressed with.

A+++++ would recommend

Sheesh. I wasnt bashing at all. I love Bada and guess I shortchanged the drafts they have, but my underlying general point stands.

And yes, I realize I'm 3 months late to respond.

I've been over there to watch several away games and have had a good overall experience. Decent food, and the owner graduated from state years ago.

I went there fairly regularly when I lived in Raleigh and still like to drop in now when I visit. The food I've had is quite good and the beer selection is decent. The owner (Bob) is way into sports, so it's a good spot to visit for games. The complaint I've seen here that is definitely warranted is that service is [meh], particularly in the evenings. Since I typically go to bars to hang out for a good long while, it's not a big deal to me, but I can see how it would be for people who are in more of a hurry.

^No, Bob is a friend of mine and he once told me that he graduated from American University and then was a sports reporter for the Washington Post. Then he took a job as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team at Miami (FL). They shut down the program in 1970 and then he took a job with the athletics department at NC State.

Quite possible. I have no idea where he graduated from, my edit was to emphasize that "years" didn't quite cover the chronology.

I was working in the kitchen when the place first opened last year.

Food takes forever to come out because the kitchen is set up poorly for the type of foods they want to serve. Any plate requires items from at least 2 coolers, both typically being separated by at least 8 feet of distance. When you are running a station in a kitchen you need to have everything for your responsibilities within arm's reach or within 2 steps from the fryer/stove/grill/etc.

Also, the coolers aren't large enough to hold the 500 ingredients that go on every plate, so someone working a station is constantly having to run to the walk in to pull more.

The biggest problems are that the coolers are too small, the equipment is too densely packed together on the line, and (at least when I was there) staff isn't trained to work together as a team-more like individuals that know they need item x for a plate and that is all they are worried about.

A well trained team of people can overcome the cooler and distance issues to a certain extent, but overall, the kitchen needs to be re-organized to make working in it more efficient.

[Edited on March 9, 2012 at 12:09 PM. Reason : All comments to keep in mind that the Kitchen is seriously about the size of a shoe box]

It's kind of fun to hang out with him at the games sometimes because he knows everyone. He locked his keys in his car at a football game one time and I was going to give him a ride home. Suddenly he told me to stop the car, hopped out, and yelled, "HEY DAVID! HOW'S IT GOING!" Then David Thompson said, "Oh hey Bob." Bob also introduced me to Les Robinson one time. He's a nice guy even though his coaching career at NC State was an epic fail.

I really like GSP's cheese fries and queso dip. Wings are decent too. Best flavor is a mix of insane and honey mustard.
