^really? that's what you were thinking throughout the game? i think we played a good game against an inferior oppenent. we dominated more than the final score suggested (76-54).
1/1/2011 11:06:01 PM
Congrats to Howell for his 13 and 13 performance. As a team, we out rebounded SD 45-25. This is a great way to control and win ball games. Although we were out rebounded by Alabama A&M and still won by 31, but this won't work come ACC play.
1/1/2011 11:07:06 PM
^^San Diego is fucking awful if you are implying I am wrong about Lowe. You can't base anything on this game. I think Pfeiffer could have beaten those guys.
1/1/2011 11:20:18 PM
^i'm just implying that you're amusing.
1/1/2011 11:23:01 PM
It means I bet you are enjoying the gamegod dammit you fucking conspiracy theoristSounds like you didn't enjoy the game, thats sad]
1/1/2011 11:29:21 PM
maybe he'll give up his season tickets so someone else can have them
1/1/2011 11:37:10 PM
^^Where the hell do you get that? All I said was I wish we played someone worth a damn before ACC play. Jesus Christ. ^Won't be many left in RBC if we don't start winning. Half full again for this one.
1/2/2011 1:41:24 AM
How many people can you really expect at a noon game on New Year's Day though
1/2/2011 1:47:36 AM
Reynolds would have been filled on the sidelines [/openin dat can-o-worms]
1/2/2011 1:52:42 AM
^^fucking seriously.get the fuck out of here, i don't care if we are undefeated and have won 4 straight national championships we aren't filling up a noon new years day game against a 3-10 team
1/2/2011 2:00:07 AM
I agree about New Years Day but its been shitty for every game sans Arizona, and that one was only 2/3 full.[Edited on January 2, 2011 at 2:12 AM. Reason : We claim such an awesome fanbase and attendance and all and we don't fill our arena ever]
1/2/2011 2:09:41 AM
15k+ for almost all ACC gameswe should seriously just play all of our ooc games in reynolds

1/2/2011 2:49:51 AM
there's a "the more you know" joke somewhere
1/2/2011 2:50:38 AM
1/2/2011 7:41:21 AM
And we sold more season tickets this year than last year

1/2/2011 12:06:57 PM
1/2/2011 12:55:17 PM
^^ What are you basing your attendance being down statement on? Your opinion of how full the arena should be? So far we have had two home games that conflict with important fball games. We also have had one decent opponent on our home court and a ton of games against nobodies when students aren't around. You honestly seem to think that even though season ticket sales are up from last year (this is fact) we are going to average less overall attendance? Really pathetic logic there boozie...[Edited on January 2, 2011 at 12:55 PM. Reason : asdf]
1/2/2011 12:55:33 PM
You love to harp on this dude. But you're ignoring the FACT that we're in one of the the worst economic downturns in ~80 years.
1/2/2011 1:00:25 PM
guys, just face it.packboozie is gonna find something to bitch about daily until sid is gone.the sooner you can accept that, the shorter these threads will be
1/2/2011 1:00:58 PM
nm I'm done with this subject it was stupid the first time through.^very true he will keep repeating the same tired shit too. [Edited on January 2, 2011 at 1:05 PM. Reason : asdf]
1/2/2011 1:04:31 PM
So ticket sales are up and attendance is down. That has NOTHING to do with the economy. Those tickets were already bought.[Edited on January 2, 2011 at 1:39 PM. Reason : ^^LOL even you can see that Lowe isn't the answer you've already admitted it]
1/2/2011 1:39:00 PM
can't believe we didn't have a full house for a noon game on New Years Day against San Diego]
1/2/2011 1:43:47 PM
That argument would make sense if the economy being down was a new thing however the economy shit the bed LOOONG before the people who bought season tickets this year made the decision to buy them. Please stop saying such stupid shit.
1/2/2011 1:45:07 PM
You argue that sales are up, but the numbers at the games are down. This means, listen closely, that more people bought tickets and are not using them this year compared to last year. 55% capacity is pathetic I don't care who the opponent is. Our one decent game (Arizona) was about 70% capacity which is still awful. I'm just saying we love to proclaim our fanbase as great and very supportive and we are not backing that up. We have the 3rd largest club in the nation with over 20,000 members and yet we are averaging under 12,000 a game for basketball. This isn't a knock on Lowe, it's a knock on the fanbase.
1/2/2011 1:51:29 PM
ATTN: All you bastards that were still in Orlando enjoying a little vacation/bowl action yesterday. You're terrible fans. You should have rushed back to watch our BBall team beat the snot out of a west coast team nobody gives two shits about.Oh, and you're even more terrible for missing that Alabama A&M game. REAL fans like packboozie are able to be in two places at once.[Edited on January 2, 2011 at 2:13 PM. Reason : .]

Attendance falls because nobody is buying the tickets that the old timers are selling when they can't/don't want to go. Ticket sales up, attendance down means lack of interest/hype OR resalability(?) ... Hard to definitively prove either way.
1/2/2011 2:16:57 PM
"Hey man, you wanna fly up to New York City for NYE?""Only if you can get me back in Raleigh by noon the next day, dog"
1/2/2011 2:19:00 PM
^^ NO it simply means that so far this season we have played two games that conflicted with significant football games and only one exciting OOC game in the RBC center. I am pretty sure that over 50% of our home games have been during exams or breaks when student attendance would naturally be down. Instead of selling unused student tickets at the box office immediately prior to the game it looks like those seats remain empty. So let me get this straight. The entire premise of boozie's argument is even though we have sold more season tickets this year than last year our attendance is going to be worse because more people are buying tickets and deciding not to go to games? So I guess it made sense for people (while we are experiencing an economic depression) to go out and buy season tickets that they didn't intend on using? You really don't see the logical fallacy of this argument?^^ It simply means that so far this season we have played two games that conflicted with significant football games and only one exciting OOC game in the RBC center. I am pretty sure that over 50% of our home games have been during exams or breaks when student attendance would naturally be down. No one gives a fuck about going to basketball games in the fall semester anyway
1/2/2011 2:26:09 PM
So, I added up the games played through Jan 1 this year and through Jan 1 last year. I get last year at 10,477 and this year at 11,060. And the opener (before we went to that tourney and lost Smith) was up from 9,302 last year to 15,450 this year. Attendance is actually UP this year. And if the attendance at the opener is any indication, it would have been even higher if Smith had been playing the whole time.See http://www.gopack.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/ncst/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/FinalStatsand http://www.gopack.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2010-2011/teamcume.html if you'd like to check my math.

^all very true.I think Howell's play yesterday is going to provide Leslie with an impetus to play a little smarter. I really like what Leslie brings but he may lose his starting spot to Howell if he doesn't start playing smarter.
1/2/2011 5:08:10 PM
1/2/2011 10:26:19 PM
Two things I liked from this game:1) We won by 22 even though Wood and Leslie had a combined 2 points2) +20 rebound margin. Leslie and Howell weren't far from outrebounding San Diego.

Let me just add 1 quick thing about attendance. It is SO much easier for old folks and families to spend a Saturday to drive and spend at CF.It is much harder to have people show up to a Tuesday night at 7pm game if they are driving distances that are easier to do on a Saturday. My parents have been season ticket holders in both sports since I've been alive and even they are guilty of this. Understand that people have jobs, and young children, and the most likely "excuse" is that it is much harder to drive the distance on a weekday and get back at a reasonable hour than it is to devote a whole day to a sport.
1/2/2011 11:27:01 PM
^^ Dude you were arguing attendance was down weeks before I posted ESPN's numbersI mean read your post right before mine^ It's no more difficult for people to come to a Tuesday night game in Raleigh than it is in Syracuse or Lexington or Chapel Hill or anywhere else [Edited on January 3, 2011 at 12:52 AM. 1/3/2011 12:51:26 AM
We LOVE Thursday night football games here, some of the best crowds ever. Look at Cincy and FSU this year. Amazing crowds. I don't wanna hear the weekday excuse.
1/3/2011 1:40:39 AM
^lol. there are only, what, 6 or 7 home football games a season. There are like 20 home basketball games. Shutup
1/3/2011 8:57:39 AM
^^Yea, that's awful logic.
1/3/2011 9:37:37 AM
So people aren't more excited to go to football games than basketball games??? I know there are less games, but you got to see what I am getting at. Look at our student sections, football is raucous and everyone wants to go. Basketball games getting students there is like getting them to come to class.
1/3/2011 11:17:35 AM
We have had 1 home game in the RBC center that wasn't scheduled during a break or exams...
