^^I saw the tweet and thought it was just some dude he was making fun of for looking like Robert Plant. That's pretty awesome.

Isn't a lot of yall's cup of tea, but Chase and Status' new album "No More Idols" came out a few days ago and it's pretty damn good as expected.
2/3/2011 11:19:07 PM
The Raconteurs are great live.Jack White is great live in any capacity, I have seen three incarnations.
2/4/2011 12:29:06 AM
after listening to "ball and biscuit" for the first time post-breakup, i believe it deserves to go down as one of the greatest blues songs of all time, if it didn't already.
2/4/2011 6:05:08 PM
^definitely my favorite song on elephant.
2/4/2011 7:30:22 PM
http://www.pastemagazine.com/blogs/lists/2011/02/the-white-stripes-10-best-songs.html"ball and biscuit" isn't even on there. what a fucking joke
2/4/2011 8:03:55 PM
It isn't all "NEW" music, but Cave In's Anomalies Vol. 1 just leaked. Also, Cave In is on the lineup for Krazy Fest in Louisville in May. I want to go. Really bad.
2/4/2011 11:09:20 PM
So no more LCD SoundsystemExpected, but still a fuckin' bummer. Shitty week for important contemporary bands.
2/6/2011 1:03:16 AM
that was more expected than the white stripes though since james murphy basically said last summer that he didn't have it in him anymore. i listened to an old npr interview with him from 2007 where he was talking about how his immune system sucks, and he'd basically be really sick and weak on tour. the white stripes weren't exactly surprising either considering their 3 year hiatus, but at least jack white hinted at a new album for this year. and at least lcd soundsystem is doing a fair well show. [Edited on February 6, 2011 at 1:18 AM. Reason : .]
2/6/2011 1:16:23 AM
yeah, i agreestill sucks that we won't ever hear a new lcd soundsystem song or album againhopefully james does something cool in his post-lcd career; it's not like he isn't still running an awesome record label in dfa
2/6/2011 11:38:01 AM
2/6/2011 2:09:09 PM
^^i see him producing some really great albums over the next decade.
2/6/2011 3:32:54 PM
^^ the last couple records have a similar production style, but there's a really wide swing in style and sound over the course of their careerhell, the first three albums weren't even mastered when they were released
2/6/2011 5:01:23 PM
damn... there's way more White Stripes mourning going on than I expected out of this group.they haven't had a great record in 7 years, imo.[Edited on February 7, 2011 at 2:23 AM. Reason : good to great, b/c elephant was at least "good".]
2/7/2011 2:22:24 AM
I've never really been a big fan myselfElephant is a good record though

Rat Soup, you can say whatever you want about me, I really don't care...But you also said 'one of the greatest blues songs of all time' was written by two white kids from Michigan. btw...If you like more traditional blues, I think you're gonna love Blues Hammer
2/7/2011 9:40:51 PM
oh i'm sorry. i didn't realize skin color had anything to do with one's ability to play a style of music particularly well and that it automatically discredited you from any sort of consideration of placement among greatest whatevers because a certain sound was once dominated by black folk. my bad. guess i should keep a certain white hick from texas out of consideration too.
2/7/2011 9:45:14 PM
Hey Mr Scrumples, why don't you sit this one out. You don't want to go sounding like a fool any more than you already have.[Edited on February 7, 2011 at 10:08 PM. Reason : 1]

AnywhoThe new Toro Y Moi is fantastic

The new Iron and Wine is pretty good for the most part.
2/7/2011 11:44:43 PM
Blackbird Blackbird is playing at the Duke Coffeehouse on thurs. I think it's the duo's first show. Fucking stokedhttp://www.myspace.com/byeblackbird
2/8/2011 1:00:49 AM
oh word, I love that Blackbird Blackbird album... a few days ago the show was listed as Braids, Baths and Star Slinger. guess it got switched up... I'll be there regardless
2/8/2011 10:12:21 AM
Mr. Scrumples, there's been a ton of great music to come out of Detroit spanning many genres and ethnicities (not that ethnicity matters in music). That said, I don't think "Ball and Biscuit" is one of the best blues songs ever recorded. The Stripes still fucking rule, though.[Edited on February 8, 2011 at 2:51 PM. Reason : .]

got a ticket to see glassjaw later this month, i'm excited.hoping for a full length album this year.
2/8/2011 3:31:15 PM
Considering "Ball and Biscuit" isn't even the best Stripes blues song, I'd have to agree. ]
2/8/2011 8:11:51 PM
well "best" certainly isn't subjectivei suppose "one of the greatest blues songs of all time" sort of is too, but at least i'm throwing it into a large bucket as opposed to a stand alone title.
2/8/2011 8:51:10 PM
I'd hate to get sucked back in only to be disappointed again, but the new Strokes single kinda rules.
2/9/2011 10:13:35 PM
it took a couple of listens, but I'm into it as well
2/9/2011 11:22:10 PM
i'm 50/50 on itseems a little noodlybut i've only listened twicestill, i think even first impressions of earth is a good record if you can put yourself in the place to enjoy it
2/10/2011 2:54:47 AM
I like it, his voice sounds a little odd at times though.

finally listening to the new mogwai. i think i've listened to the song rano pano 25 times today. that comes out to 131 minutes and change of me saying "holy shit...." to myself.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 3:40 AM. Reason : ]

diggin the new rural alberta advantage and kurt vile albums.
2/12/2011 6:00:57 PM
^yeh, I'm really loving the new rural alberta advantage. at first, it didn't strike me as nearly engaging as their first album, but after a few listens, I'm struck by the more mature, more diverse sound of this lp.interested parties should check this thread: http://boards.ign.com/indie_rock/b6855/199896327/p1/
2/12/2011 10:49:40 PM
^i had a similar thought process. glad the drums are still front and center on several of the new songs. their drummer blew me away when i saw them live.
