I just emailed the contact "Kat" at TWC mentioned on page 2. Hoping it's available in my area and that she can get me a good price on the 30/5 and on re-upping my price-lock deal.

I leave near the intersection of Ridge Road and Glen Eden - any of you leave near here that have it installed?

Yeah seems like West Raleigh is still left out right now. In the 27606 here and haven't been able to find out when.

installed today, and had to bridge the modem to a dd-wrt in order to get the connection stable.

the modem supplied was the shitty UBEE 3611... its another one of those 'gateway' type devices that crams wireless, routing, modem, firewall all in one box... great concept but it sucks for me...

severe packet loss when running in NAT mode on the UBEE. after bridging to the linksys was great!

i called and get the $52.95 promo no problems... wanted the 50 Mbps service, but at $99.95 thats crazy!

TWC RR Turbo - Raleigh Somehow I've got the DL speed of the new service but the UL speed still sucks...maybe I can convince them to up that without paying them anymore anything additional. Wishful thinking I suppose...

My install was $17

^That is because of the turboboost shit that gives you increased speed for the first few seconds of a transfer and then drops down to 12 or whatever turbo is for the rest of the download. Try downloading an actual file over a couple megs and you won't be getting 30+ for the entire transfer.

Funny, the TW install person said all the Extreme customers they installed are all IT / Networking people that found out about the product on "some message board"

I'm assuming DSL Reports

What can you change in the (privilege mode) website?

All i see additional is the option to change the privilege mode password.

edit: well I just realized that mine is bridged and most of the options are disabled while in this mode.. perhaps there are others in the standard NAT mode.

Called up TWC on the standard number, now available where I'm at in the 27606. Got quoted a price of $144 on the Digital TV with no prem. and Extreme 30/5 Service though .

Guess I'll call one of the reps listed in the thread here and see if I can get in on the better action.

The first rep I talked to knew nothing of an offer and couldn't help me, I said thanks and hung up. Called the same number and talked to a new rep, she was most helpful and is the one I listed above. Looking at the comments, I guess I could have talked her down on installation, but I'm a new install (literally moved locations yesterday) and didn't care. It sure beat the pants off of UVerse insisting that I pay $200 for installation since I was ordering internet only.

What model UBEE? After it is bridged, you should still be able to access it, but via 192.168.100.1 instead of 192.168.0.1 - mine has all of the same options available after I put it in bridge. VPN and a few other options at the top that weren't there before.

Still need to bridge the UBEE, haven't had time to mess with it yet.

These are my numbers with the stock device and the currently 1 laptop connected over WiFi:

(I think I'm getting slightly gyp'd at the moment on upload )

Once I get a few more boxes unpacked, I'll setup my Buffalo, then I'll get to my media center, then the tower in my office.

This in in NAT mode, tried to go to bridged but its giving me all kinda hell right now getting outside of my LAN. I'll try again later when I have more time to fiddle with it.

Just got it installed in Holly Springs, NC.

I figured I'd try out the internal WiFi router aspect in order to remove one more wall wart from my setup, and I was seeing 85%+ packet loss as well. Thanks to the below advice in this thread, two tweaks brought it down to 0%.

For anyone else getting this modem, do this after the tech leaves:

http://192.168.0.1/TlModeChange.asp
Username = [last 8 digits in the top Cable RF Mac Address sticker on the underside of the UBee modem]
Password = c0nf1gur3m3

Click "Wireless"
Primary Network
WPA2-PSK = change "Disabled" to "Enabled"
(change the access password while you're in there as well)
Apply Changes
Click "Firewall"
Untick anything ticked
Apply

Try the pingtest.net again and see what happens!

Quote :
"Works fine for me -- I did have a huge issue with packet loss when my setup was first performed -- using http://www.pingtest.net/ I was getting 85% + packet loss. After looking around online, I came across a forum which recommended two changes.

1) Enable the wireless on the modem and turn on WPA2 encryption. By default this is on for most people apparently. However, I had turned it off as I didn't care to use wireless.

2) Disable the built in firewall in the modem.

After making these two changes I now get 0% packet loss and my overall connection speed is fantastic."

so the dude came out and set up all the shit, and we were getting tops 35/5. He confirmed that there seems to be some issue, but he couldn't fix it himself

I config'd the gateway/modem/piece of shit per the instructions in this thread after he left, and while it cleared up some of the issues (like the wireless turning itself off and on repeatedly every 3-4 minutes), we're still going to have to pester TWC to get our full speeds (or a bill credit)

I got a quote of $54 a month for 12months from Kat today.

How did you all package this into your existing service? I currently have standard RR and Digital Cable. I have a price lock that just renewed and I'm trying to determine if its cheaper to drop the price lock and get a 12 month deal on cable and then add on the extreme 30/5 for 54.

Switched to Wideband and cancelled TV services. The Wilson speedtest server always struggles to hit 41mbps and the ping to the Greensboro one is always super high.

I talked to Kat and apparently I am outside my opt out period by 7 days to renegotiate the price lock.

I may have hit a dead end. They will not bundle the 30/5 as a package.

Well its good to see one thing out of this for the lower customers. Just got an email saying my basic RR got bumped 3Mb to 10. Not much but its something.

Which is funny after testing. I can tell theyve got turboboost on mine or something, as it spiked to 20 before it slowly dropped to what it finished at.

Got mine, seems like they have me capped at 10. Then again Im on wireless right now which might be an issue. nrt.ncren.net is saying i have a 10mb link somewhere when I dont think I do.

Also seems that it wont allow me to traceroute out. Im going from my computer to my cisco router, and it sees the router, but doesnt see anything past the router. I did bridge the modem.

you dont get nat, all their fw crap (it really sucks) and some serious loss in speed.

For an all-in-one, its got some good features, but the fw sucks, and Ive got a cisco router I run my apartment with, so I just need a modem.

In the manual it says the Ubee modem supports SNMP - has anyone tried tinkering with that?
