Turner is becoming quite the RBI beast. And 8-4 in the last 12 games...and only one of those losses was by more than 2 runs.[Edited on May 19, 2011 at 1:19 AM. Reason : -]

Dillon Gee tossed a gem today...1-0 win over the Nats. Interleague play starts now...onto the Yankees
5/19/2011 7:46:11 PM
i would like interleague more if we didn't play the yankees 6 times every year while other teams get off so much easier.we got so close to .500 and now we'll likely lose at least 2 if not all 3 this weekend.

Re: Reyes' obp.He isn't the best obp leadoff guy (neither was/is Rollins) but among leadoff hitters he is #2 in the last five years at scoring position % so his lower obp doesn't hurt his ability to contribute runs relative to his peers.Yes I stole that stat from a blog.

he's currently tied for #1 in NL for hits and is the top base stealer...i don't know what more you can ask for from a lead-off man. he's also leading the league in tripples.

I'm confused as to why any owner would do this. I mean even Mark Cuban and George Steinbrenner think this interview was a bad idea.Is there really any surprise that the Mets are a five-year long joke with this clown owning the team?
5/23/2011 5:37:50 PM
5/23/2011 5:45:06 PM
^ dude made it out like every team except the Mets have it easy when in fact the Braves have it just as tough. The Red Sox have been as good as the Yankees over the past 7-8 years. He should have just said the Phillies because that is who he was referencing.
5/23/2011 5:51:45 PM
Why are you talking about 2008 and Yankee traditionThat don't mean shit for a balanced schedule in 2011Interleague play is stupid
5/23/2011 5:52:14 PM
If you're a fan with no real geographical rival I understand that. But I, for one, love playing the Yankees. Those games are a blast.Sucks that Reyes is all but gone.
5/23/2011 5:56:13 PM
NY and Chicago are the only cities where that's even a legit argument. No one in Los Angeles really gives a shit about baseball or sports in general. You think Orioles fans get pumped about playing the Nationals? Rangers/Astros or Marlins/Rays is big time?It ruins the schedule and can cost teams the wild card or even the division. It's good for revenue because it's still a novelty, but MLB needs to find a way to strike a balance between interleague and even schedules.MLB commissioner Ernie would get rid of it all together, but that's never going to happen.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 6:04 PM. Reason : okay Bay Area too][Edited on May 23, 2011 at 6:06 PM. Reason : MVP 05 on PS2 had each team's "rivals" listed. Red Sox and Braves were paired up ]
5/23/2011 6:01:54 PM
^^^^You're right. Interleague play (the way the rivalries are set up, at least) is not fair. I like interleague play because you get to see match-ups that you don't normally get the chance to see. I think that it needs to be tweaked. But the idea is one that I like. ^^^I know the Rays lack of success in their early years hold no bearing on the difficulty of the Marlins' match-up with them this season. You are correct. But the point was, it's not fair that some teams have interleague 6 games locked into their schedule against a playoff team every single year, when other teams are playing 6 games against a team that is consistently bad (the O's, for example). I'm not opposed to the Mets playing the Yankees in interleague play. I am opposed to the Mets playing the Yankees (or any team for that matter) 6 times during interleague play. No need for two series against one team from the AL.[Edited on May 23, 2011 at 6:03 PM. Reason : ]
5/23/2011 6:03:33 PM
The Cardinals play the Royals six times a year...how does that not upset fans in Houston, Cincinnati, and Chicago when their "rivalry" games have been against way better opponents?I would rather see a standard rotation just like NFC vs AFC games...it would be harder to work out because of the NL Central and AL West not having the same number of teams as everyone else, but it would be more fair for each team to play the same opponents as others in their own division.

If we trade Reyes, I'm tuning out for a year or two. If you can't afford a homegrown player in his prime who is that good, then you can't afford a New York City sports franchise. The infield starters tonight? Murphy, Turner, Tejada and Harris. That wouldn't even win in AAA. Good thing the Pirates are AA.[Edited on May 30, 2011 at 9:56 PM. Reason : i don't care if they have a better record... it's the central]

Gary Carter

^I just heard. I grew up loving every catcher who ever played for the Mets all because he was so awesome.Carter, Hundley, Piazza, Lo Duca...even the backups like Wilson, Pratt, Castro, and Phillips...not necessarily all great players but certainly all fun personalities.
5/31/2011 3:51:30 PM
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6612729This is fucking crazy. They are 27 and 28 years old. Extend them. Don't trade them. Build around them. For christ's sake, if you can't afford to pay your players, sell the team. It's New York City.Einhorn can afford them. If the Wilpon's can't they need to leave. And yes, I realize each has flaws but they are each top five players at their positions. You build around those. And fuck writers for thinking that David Wright isn't a great player. He has had ONE down year in eight. ONE. Just because he is a Mets player doesn't mean he sucks. I know it's trendy to bash everything Mets, but it's retarded.[Edited on May 31, 2011 at 7:36 PM.
