autodraft did one hell of a job for you
8/20/2010 9:23:39 AM
i picked up brian westbrook .... maybe he still has some magic left in him, albeit for a game or 2 that he's healthy
8/20/2010 9:30:34 AM
Ok, need some advice, although this is probably a no-brainer. Standard scoring, 10 team, keeper league. We can keep 5 players, only 2 per position, and if they take up the first 5 picks if you keep them. If you don't, then you get earlier picks. So should I keep all my players? I think yes.QB: Tom BradyRB: Ray Rice, Michael TurnerWR: Randy Moss, Marques ColstonMy only question really is Colston....could I get a better pick for my 5th round pick? Doubtful right?
8/20/2010 9:59:55 AM
if everybody else has the option of keeping 5 guys I would imagine there wont be much there to draft. I vote keep.
8/20/2010 10:11:38 AM
Keep.Colston is going in the beginning of rd 3 on average. Here's what is going in Rd 5.50 Vernon Davis 51 Dwayne Bowe 52 Ronnie Brown 53 Jermichael Finley 54 Hakeem Nicks 55 Mike Walker 56 Jason Witten 57 Vincent Jackson 58 Felix Jones 59 Hines Ward

is it a PPR league? You've got some good PPR WR's and RB's on there. Charles and Best would move up if so, as would Boldin.I really like Boldin out of those guys. He's clearly being targeted a ton and should be a monster this year. I'm more bullish on him than I am Colston this year. Also, you've got a better chance of finding mid-late round talent at RB then you do WR. Colston and Boldin are in that 2nd tier. After that, it drops pretty dramatically.I'd go with Boldin, PPR or not, then go RB on the next turn.
8/20/2010 10:45:15 AM
Damn...I hate the 8 pick in a 12 team league this year...is 17 too early for Ryan Matthews? I know he won't be there at 33...
8/20/2010 10:50:11 AM
^^^ If it were me, WR takes a pretty steep hit after those guys and RB has more servicable options later. Really just look down the list and if you're comfortable with a Garcon/Crabtree or Maclin WR combo than takes Charles or Grant. If you want to just go best available I would rank them: CharlesGrantMcCoySmithColstonBestBoldinAddaiStewartslow on the draw, but yeah what Panthro said[Edited on August 20, 2010 at 10:57 AM. I'm especially conflicted on Smitty...I could see him blowing up for 100/1300/12, or tanking. I guess that's also a reflection of uncertainty for Moore and the overall team.He has been doing alot of talking, which I consider a good thing for him.
8/20/2010 11:55:35 AM
id also feel a lot better about him if someone a little better than Lafell was on the other side
8/20/2010 11:58:08 AM
I've got the fourth pick in a PPR league. Common sense says go RB (either Ray Rice or MJD should be there). But considering the format, would it be retarded to go WR and pick Andre Johnson?
8/20/2010 1:04:48 PM
Andre will catch 100 balls, but lots of other recievers will catch 80. Mjd and Rice will catch 60, while most RBs catch half that...I say get one of the running backs and get your WRs later on.
8/20/2010 1:15:49 PM
Yep, go running back, especially with the 4th pick. I won a 12 team ppr league last year with the last pick in the first round by taking back to back WRs at 12 and 13.
8/20/2010 1:24:25 PM
how does you winning with WRs strengthen the point of taking a RB early?
8/20/2010 1:28:24 PM
so whats the deal with Arian Foster...is Texas really that concerned with Slaton's fumbles?
8/20/2010 1:36:59 PM
Houston?
8/20/2010 1:40:14 PM
yeah i meant to type the Texans
8/20/2010 1:43:40 PM
8/20/2010 2:09:03 PM
Arian Foster is going to be the #1 RB in Houston unless he completely implodes for the rest of the preseason. Slaton will likely just be the 3rd down/change of pace back. Slaton's fumble last week didnt help his cause one bit.

Feel like I have to mention how ironic it is that TreeTwista, who claims to be second to none in all things fantasy sports, can forget his very own draft. Must be that mongloid leage again.

to piggy back on what I said yesterday, Gary Kubiak called Arian Foster "one hell of a player" yesterday and commented on the fact that he's done a complete 360 from last year. Hes working hard in practice - including blitz pickups. Sounds like hes going to be the man in Houston without question. I think he is worth a look in the 5th/6th round in the jahvid best, joseph addai neighborhood, maybe higher

For those who are high on Larry Fitzgerald, tune in tonight on MNF to see just how shitty Matty Leinart is.The Cardinals are really going to run the crap out of the ball with Wells getting 70% of the carries. Hightower will still be serviceable in deeper leagues though and would be awesome if an injury came up.In regards to the Cardinals, I do believe that in deeper leagues, Early Doucet will end up having tremendous value. He's much more "Boldin-esque" than Breaston, who really is more of a slot player. In 12 team or greater leagues, Doucet could be an awesome value in the late rounds.

RAWR RAWR RAWR, Fantasy noob here, wtb crash course tutorial link for yahoo. Being that it's my first time should I just use autodraft? Now that I've taken the plunge I wouldn't mind showing up some people in the league, but I've honestly never even attempted to get into this. I've noticed the custom league I'm in is different than most of what people are posting here. It looks to be 14 team max [recently upped from 10], H2H, No Max on Moves/Trades/Acquisitions, Post Draft Free Agents, PTD 6pt, INT -3, RTD 6, and a bunch of other custom values that no one probably cares about.Que?
8/23/2010 12:33:40 PM
^ I wouldnt autodraft unless you want a team with a bunch of fucks you dont want and no personal touch to your team. If you watch any football you should be ok. Just loosely follow any top 200
8/23/2010 1:22:40 PM
one thing I would suggest to you would be to go to you league page, click on the "players" tab at the top, once you get there go to the "stats" pulldown menu and select "season (proj.)", then click the "filter" button. You can filter it to just show QBs, WRs and RBs as well.this will give you an idea on which players will be good/bad based on your league's specific settings and will be yahoo's way of projecting how many points each player will score over the course of the season with your league's point system. I think thats a handy tool to use when draftingI also would NOT do an autodraft. The draft is the biggest thing you do all season and will be the backbone to your team. Sure you can add/drop players or make trades later, but as far as the big name players go, you will either have them or not based on the draft. I wouldnt trust the autodraft to pick my team for me. Plus the draft is a lot of fun.
8/23/2010 1:33:01 PM
Yahoo has pre-draft player rankings, should I try to edit the default order prior to draft?. Say 14 teams fill up and at 15 rounds that's 210 players. How many "what if" scenarios are you supposed to have prepared to build your team? I notice the top 4 picks are always RBs and then WRs. Top QBs are sprinkled in and don't seem to go until late in the rounds. It seems highly situational depending on league settings, injury reports, stabbings, robberies, and rape stall incidents. Are you basically following stats until the night of or do you have a master list that you end up just making changes to every day?^^,^ Thanks. I just was informed there is a cash buyin, so now I will actually have motivation to get this down before next week.[Edited on August 23, 2010 at 1:59 PM. Reason : ]

Chris Johnson's goal is to rush for 2500 yards this yearhttp://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/titans/2010-08-22-chris-johnson_N.htm
8/23/2010 5:12:44 PM
Kudos to him for trying to shoot the moon, but that ain't happening in a million years.
8/23/2010 5:21:59 PM
Just wait till they start playing 18 games2000 yards will become like 61 home runs
8/23/2010 5:24:57 PM
Sidney Rice to have surgey on his hip and will likely miss half of the regular season. You heard it here first. Downgrade Favre, Rice and Harvin. Small bump to Shiancoe. Peterson is too good to lose a lot of value. - The Guru
8/24/2010 8:07:42 AM
I'm ok with downgrading Rice, but not really bumping down Favre yet. I already had Harvin bumped down a bit due to migraines. He still has Harvin, Berrian, and now Javon Walker not to mention Shiancoe. I think Favre will be fine without Rice.
8/24/2010 8:32:40 AM
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuthat sucks, oh well at least he was just by WR3, I'll replace him with Santana Moss or Malcolm Floyd
8/24/2010 8:48:05 AM
Surprised you didn't mention Berrian, Guru.I like him step up and be the number 1 guy this year that people thought he would be last yearI'm taking 1200 yards, 8+ TDs kind of production
8/24/2010 8:49:37 AM
I'M DRAFTING VINCE YOUNG!
8/24/2010 9:30:33 AM
stock slipping on all Cardinals after last night?
8/24/2010 9:34:44 AM
they looked turrible last night
8/24/2010 9:36:38 AM
^I think Fitz slides and Leinart should never have been high on anyone's board. I think Wells and Hightower are both holding constant. Definitely see that offense relying on the run more than in previous years.
8/24/2010 9:40:04 AM
Man, I knew that train wreck was coming last night. I think I referenced it earlier in the thread. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure that by week 4, when the Cardinals are 0-3, Derek Anderson will be the starting QB. He throws a better long ball which ultimately will help Fitz get back on track.
8/24/2010 9:52:02 AM
dont steal my predictions Panthro, I put the over/under on Leinart losing his job at 3 or 4 games last night in the NFL season thread with that said, who do you think I should roll with now that Sidney Rice is out - Santana Moss or Malcolm Floyd?
8/24/2010 9:58:44 AM
^ Moss. And that's coming from a Cowboy fan
8/24/2010 10:00:32 AM
wait, youre a cowboys fan?! who wouldve thought
