I forgot the dark stout. That was the other one from them that I thought was good.^^^ I don't know.

$28 for Foehammer Who do these assholes think think they are?
1/3/2012 1:06:33 PM
Is that the price for a growler?
1/3/2012 1:08:05 PM
750ml
1/3/2012 1:15:36 PM
So what's the new concensus on this brewery? $25 for Foe Hammer seems way too high. Are these guys still douches or have they evened Out?
3/3/2012 8:58:48 AM
How are they douches?

I've somewhat gotten to know the brothers and the handful of other guys that are Roth over the last year+ and "douchebag" is not amongst the adjectives I'd use to describe any of them. they are all great guys that work their asses off and care more than most about public perception of their product. there were a couple times at my bar when I called one of them to let them know a particular keg wasn't tasting right, they were out to swap it out immediately, no questions asked. cool guys to hang out with at the brewery, and if you haven't tried their beer yet, do so....there is a reason they're still around. I recommend the dark construct, or foehammerand are you people complaining that a young brewery charges a small fee for a tour and samples because a larger established brewer can afford not to? if you can't afford to throw a few bucks toward a tour, you probably shouldn't be out drinking anyway[Edited on March 3, 2012 at 11:19 AM. maybe we just got some mod trolling going on in here...
3/3/2012 11:17:55 AM
^He could just have bad taste or a complete inability to assess the personality of others.
3/3/2012 1:52:06 PM
lol, yeah that's it. the douche remark was made solely on a quick read through of this thread and user complaints and reactions by people seemingly within or close to the company. that and i was posting a quick thread bump while in the car. so you quick to judge and re-judge can relax.paerabol, that's good to hear. I picked up a bottle of dark construct. as I said, i've heard good things bout foe hammer but the $25 price tag on a 750ml is pricey until i taste more from them. (they are just recently getting distribution down to my area).
3/5/2012 4:18:43 PM
Shit, Dark Contruct is like $10; its a stock Porter for crying out loud.[Edited on March 5, 2012 at 4:34 PM. Reason : here come the its a Milk/Foreign/Export Stout]
3/5/2012 4:27:05 PM
thankfully it was $7 at my shop. They had Sex Viking, Dark Construct, and Foe-Hammer.
3/5/2012 4:29:50 PM
While I like the guys and their beers, I am wondering why the 750 foehammer is so expensive compared to the competition...

red is hit or miss- I've had it a couple times were it is alright, but many more occasions where it was not

Spent a couple hours at the brewery last night catching up with one of the owners. Though their beer is selling relatively well (especially the sex viking apparently), I brought up the misgivings I've heard both here and IRL to hear his opinion. He said that basically, they aren't stupid and know what's going on with their beer and that they are perpetually tweaking the continuum of variables that is the brewing process. From what I understand they went from home-brewing with new yeast cultures for every batch straight to commercial brewing where they harvest and incubate their own cultures. I can imagine the difficulty in maintaining consistency in the yeast when being relatively new to the process, that shit is ridiculously touchy. I mean I understand people not liking their beer for various reasons, and you're certainly entitled to say so. But other brewers saying stuff like "they care more about getting trashed than making good beer" is patently false and purely shit-talking. These guys love what they do, they're just still in the trial-by-fire phase.

$23 Foe Hammers continue to collect dust at my local bottle shops
5/17/2012 3:55:16 PM
It's the first thing I see when I walk into TW Cary. Well that bottle is eye grabbing.
5/17/2012 4:12:04 PM
Saw they had yet another Living Social deal. Surprised they're still around.
5/17/2012 7:01:05 PM
their beer doesn't taste good so I don't drink it
5/17/2012 7:07:08 PM
bttt. are they going under?
11/14/2012 11:55:10 AM
Are they? They should do what Big Boss did...close shop, hire someone that knows what they're doing, re-open under a new name and slay the local market
11/14/2012 11:59:59 AM
A friend of mine just interviewed out there a month or so ago, would be surprised to hear it's closing.
11/14/2012 12:04:44 PM
^^ just asking, from a related post in the beer thread.
11/14/2012 1:21:40 PM

11/14/2012 6:48:02 PM
i have noticed the price of their bottles drop significantly at my local shops
12/5/2012 7:57:04 PM
I can't remember the last time I saw them on tap anywhere.
12/5/2012 11:55:35 PM
So are they going out of business or not? All I've seen thus far are rumors.I hope they don't though...they're good dudes.
12/5/2012 11:58:41 PM
OK, so i received some interesting news regarding Roth this past weekend at the ORF release.here is what i was told. The Roth brothers are out of the business. They were close to closing, but the head brewer was able to put together some investors and buy the company out from the brothers. All bottling has ceased for the time being. My guess is until the sale is finalized. There was no mention of any rebranding or name changes, though I have to imagine something will change. So any Roth beer you see on the shelf will be at least a couple months old. I imagine most will be bargained priced soon if they aren't already.

^did you read my post above?that quote sounds like a fire sale to me. Something a company would do when there is about to be a big change.
