They'd have to add some completely unnecessary scene to make that work with the story thus far. It would be pointless and when they are already having to condense so much and be very efficient with what they show on screen it'd be even more pointless. There is plenty of stuff in the book they can expand on or visualize with characters to get some nudity in there.

shouldn't you be over on patrick rothfuss's blog, furiously beating off to his every word? Who gives a fuck about spoiling the show for people? The first book has been out for more than a decade...There is plenty of nudity in the first book.Cersei in one of her first scenesCatelyn in one of her first scenesetcthere is no need to enlarge the opportunities for nudity in Martin's writing. I think the real problem will be a few seasons away.[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 9:31 PM. Reason : hell all three that were "hoped for" are nude w/in three chapters of their introduction]

who is this flatline dick and who let him use his parents' computer?
3/21/2011 9:33:08 PM
Hey retard, this is about the first season. Sansa doesn't do anything requiring her to get naked in A GAME OF THRONES. Reading comprehension of the thread title FTW.And there's another thread for discussion of the series in general, this is about the show. You won't spoil anything for me but not everyone has read the books or cares to read the books at this point.[Edited on March 21, 2011 at 9:38 PM. 3/21/2011 10:36:29 PM
They are just talking about full nudity of underaged chicks
3/21/2011 10:53:24 PM
flatline: Way to backpedal. Of course there is plenty of nudity or opportunities for nudity in the first book; anyone who read the books knows this. The only opposition came saying that there is no need for Sansa to have a nude scene (besides the actress is like 14....)As far as rothfuss wtf are you talking about? I really liked the first book but jesus, he's not even close to an author who I would hang on to his every word. So fantasize about whatever you want but leave me out of it.And finally,

i think i'm more pumped up about book 5 (assuming its really coming this summer) than this show.
3/22/2011 8:22:35 AM
No doubt, but I'm still looking forward to the show. It's interesting to have followed this production for a few years now from back before they had anyone but Tyrion and Ned picked out with casting offers and to finally have the show about to air in a little over 3 weeks.
3/22/2011 8:37:59 AM
Just in case it wasn't clear before, if you're going to post anything that can be construed as a spoiler, please mark it as such. I'm halfway the second book and hadn't gotten to the part mentioned by flatline yet. Some people are still reading the books, and some people aren't going to--this is a thread for the TV show. YOU PEOPLE.

1 GRRM is a experienced screenwriter. He is not writing a majority off the episodes however. Sftu2 Are you a fucking idiot? The story is based on his novels, and at current pace, he will take, assuming this one is published this year, another five years (if you even count this book as it contains half the plot of book 4, which would make it eight years to publish the full book). Maybe you can comprehend the temporal problems associated with annual seasons and his current pace...
3/24/2011 5:39:07 PM
probably by season 4 or season 5 the plot is going to deviate away from the books so that HBO can control where the show goes from there. i highly doubt they'll wait on his fat ass to finish #6.

Martin did lots of rewrites on his forthcoming book. He certainly can write them faster, the first 3 were only two years apart.Besides, HBO can shelve the series for a year or two like the did with Sopranos if he's not finished with the books.

I just googled the book series b/c i had never heard of it before..is it something worth reading if i have the time? I've never been into the fantasy genre...but I love a good series...(i read harry potter...YES i know these are completely different, i'm just saying)
4/3/2011 9:36:17 PM
They are an excellent series and worth your times. The books aren't too heavy in the fantasy parts and the characters are well crafted and rounded. If you're into political intrigue, the series is particularly great to read.
4/3/2011 9:43:30 PM
i don't like fantasy but i like these books. you don't really start getting into much fantasy until the second or third book and by that time the characters are developed and you have bought in to the story. i've really enjoyed them.
4/3/2011 10:15:00 PM
definitely worth reading.
4/3/2011 10:28:14 PM
the preview was phenomenal. very excite!
4/3/2011 11:17:05 PM
Very good production values. That's not good -- means it is more likely to get cancelled
4/4/2011 12:54:35 AM
Just started reading the first book again in anticipation for the show. I guess I want to make sure I'm thoroughly pissed off at the things they change?!As soon as I realized that was Ser Waymar Royce, Gared, and Will riding out through the wall I cut that shit off. Gonna be too good to spoil...[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 8:21 AM. Reason : ]

^hopefully what I have heard so far is true: Both GRRM (who was actually consulted a good amount on story/script) and the early reviews by superfans who have gotten to see some scripts and an early episode or two (people that run some of the more popular ASOIAF/GOT websites) have said that the adaptation in season 1 should hold true to the source. The consensus so far is that normal necessary "changes" were made to dialogue and some scenes added or removed due to the fact that TV is a different medium than literature and they do have some time constraints (though even less than something like LOTR had). Some people may be more of a purist than I am, but if the reports I have read so far are true the story should keep me pretty happy. I definitely understand certain things needed to be reworked and even GRRM purposely wanted some things to be slightly changed.
4/4/2011 8:57:22 AM
yeah, i'm definitely holding off on re-reading book 1. i dont remember all the details from the story so it'll be nice to have those "oh yeah i remember that happening" moments.
4/4/2011 9:22:03 AM
that's how I feel. I think it will make the show more enjoyable.[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 9:23 AM. Reason : .]

damn the sneak preview on hbo was pretty brutal, there was a beheading by supposedly one of the good guys if anyone was wonderingand it def looks like that white haired girl is getting naked pretty early on btw[Edited on April 4, 2011 at 4:06 PM. Reason : k]

FYI the first book is available on audible for 1 credit for any subscribers. normally 2. thats a lot of book for 11 bucks.
4/4/2011 3:51:01 PM
^^ I think it's very clearly explained why he did it, though. And, spoiler alert, if it's anything like the book the white-haired girl (Daenerys) will be naked a lot.

caught the making of featurette, as everyone who reads the books prob knows, it looks like there are a lot of different characters and plots going on, trying to follow it all consistently is where these hbo series kind of lose me sometimes but should be interesting
4/9/2011 7:02:10 PM
sooo looking forward to this.
4/9/2011 7:59:51 PM
planning to watch, havent read the books, so hopefully that troll doesnt post spoilers, or if he does hopefully the mods suspend his assi have plenty of books on my "to read" list already, if this show has intersting plotlines, even if it sucks, i might check out the books. but these types of stories are generally fine to watch the movie/tv show first b/c the books will go so much deeper into the storyline.and if not, whatever, enjoying LOTR the movie w/out reading the books, or whatever, doesnt make you a war criminal or anything.
4/9/2011 8:57:19 PM
You guys that haven't read the boo are in for such a treat. One of the good guys beheading people?!?! Oh no!!!
4/9/2011 9:46:21 PM
Not to take anything away from The Lord of the Rings and its contribution (read: pretty much the creation of) to the Fantasy genre, but the movie was infinitely more entertaining than the novels. Given the quality and readability of the first several books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, you owe it to yourself to read them whether the TV series works or it doesn't.
4/9/2011 9:48:42 PM
The story is still in the books for LOTR. The problem with the books is that Tolkein wrote them as a linguist and a historian as opposed to a story teller, and yes that does make them difficult to read. ASOIF is pure drama/storytelling gold.
4/10/2011 11:50:52 AM
LOTR books may have been the start, but they are nowhere near the best. And the movies aren't that good, either. Just standard action movies. But scifi fans have really low standards and will consume anything from the genre, so they are pretty popular.
4/10/2011 12:14:38 PM
I think it depends. There are certainly a lot of fantasy and scifi fans that are like that, but I know plenty who aren't as well.Even though I enjoy it, I am extremely picky when it comes to fantasy stuff. I can't even count the number of series I have gotten 1 to 2 books into and given up on - even series that are well known/supposed to be good.Either way I don't think that low standards have anything to do with people enjoying the LOTR movies. They were well-made for a screen adaptation even if they didn't do the books complete justice. Maybe slightly overrated and there were certainly things I would have done different, but they are also far from being "standard action movies."[Edited on April 10, 2011 at 12:48 PM. Reason : ]
