I would wait until Tevez, Boateng, Silva, De Jong, and possibly Milner and Balotelli are in the lineup before making any predictions for City's season.
7/31/2010 10:47:53 PM
well the only problem is who fuckin has any idea what their starting lineup will even be? they are talking about offloading 30ish people...who the fuck does that??? ridiculous amounts of money are going to be spent and lost at city. i read that at this rate if they keep doing this the next 3-5 years the will spend over 1 billion dollars on just players bought and released alone.[Edited on July 31, 2010 at 11:03 PM. City official: Man City is a bright young team. They've got a great coach, a promising new squad. Only problem is...[record scratch]...they have to win trophies to get any kind of credibility! But now, they're about to find out that winning trophies isn't so easy!

Last season I took a liking to City and recently picked them over Arsenal as my favorite EPL team. Admittedly, the sky blue color of the team's jerseys was one factor in my decision to support City. More important is Carlos Tevez's presence at Eastlands. I have admired his hustle and grit, what Martin Tyler calls his "bulldog-like approach" on FIFA 10, since watching him play in the 2007 Copa América. The recent additions of David Silva, a player whose style of play I hope to mimic, and Boateng, who plays for my favorite international team, helped to tip the scales in City's favor.
8/1/2010 12:49:06 AM
so you decided to like them off what martin tyler said on a video game and the color of their jerseys? and a guy they just purchased this summer for whom you have no idea will even be able to adapt to the english style of play?
8/1/2010 1:07:02 AM
kiljadn, I pray that Balotelli has matured a bit since last season. Maybe he won't do anything as stupid as wearing a United shirt during a televised interview or sticking his tongue out at Huddlestone after converting a penalty kick.

You're comparing apples and oranges, my friend. Carolina is much more like United than City. How does the Wal-Mart/Carolina insult apply to supporters of professional clubs? Is owning season tickets like attending or graduating from UNC? In that case, we are all Wal-Mart supporters of EPL clubs.[Edited on August 1, 2010 at 1:43 AM. Reason : apply]

8/1/2010 11:39:45 AM
Perhaps Mancini figures that competition for a starting spot between Adebayor and Balotelli could cause a locker room riot. I'm afraid putting Balotelli, Adebayor, Drogba, and Rooney in the same league might start World War III.
8/1/2010 1:08:44 PM
You can't honestly sit there and tell me you don't see this epic implosion coming from miles away. They can't offload Robinho. They won't offload Adebayor. Tevez has already had a bust-up with Mancini, and there's stories about him not being motivated after they got bumped out of the WC. Balotelli will come in and piss off everyone. They performed terribly in every single one of their pre-season matches. This team is the perfect shining example of what NOT to do when you're trying to build a successful club.
8/1/2010 1:30:13 PM
I wonder if they can offload anybody due to the high wages of the players. Barcelona might make a play for Robinho, but I doubt it.
8/1/2010 1:42:15 PM
I think it has something to do with the wages, but i think a lot of teams are waiting on man city. They're going to go into crisis mode just before the transfer window closes and have to sell off a bunch of players at obscenely low prices. They might be trying to get a decent haul for some of their players right now, but soon they'll have to get rid of them or loan them all out or something. It'd be pretty hilarious if they had a bunch of players on their team who weren't allowed to play, but are making like 100k plus a week. Man city is retarded, this team is a waste of money and talent.
8/1/2010 1:48:00 PM
8/1/2010 1:49:03 PM
yea that's true. i would just think a player would be stupid to basically sit out a year just to get paid. man city is really f'ing themselves with this. like that article said, they probably need to pay some of these players off to get rid of them, theyll lose a ton of money with their billion dollar payroll.
8/1/2010 2:13:25 PM
well $150k(100k pounds) a week i think translates to about 8 million dollars a year. im thinking most clubs would pay a lot of these players about half the wages they are making unless they moved to another club that is more prominent than city, but even then they wont make more than what city are paying...hell rooney doesnt even make 100k pounds a week.so anyway taking a paycut in half is about 4 millon dollars a year, plus i think the EPL or england or whatever dictates this has some sort 50% tax for professional athletes i believe. so then that takes it down to only 2 million dollars a year....i think there are definitely players on that team who wouldnt mind staying on the team and making their wages. they could maybe hope they would be loaned out. problem for city is most clubs arent gonna want to pay the ridiculous wages of the players they loan so citymight still be forced to pay the players wages even while they are out on loan...all in all this is the exact reason why its shitty to try and buy success. chelsea did it for the most part, but they were already pretty successful this and last decade, or at least close enough to the top and had talent already. i wasnt real happy with abramovich's approach to spend spend spend at first but i think he realized how bad it is for the club and how it ruins the youth program and creates instability in the club so he has now stopped that approach and they appear to be back up on top successfully. for some reason i dont feel like the same will happen with city and i dont ever see them pulling off instant success like chelski did. i really really hope they dont ruin the game in england with this retarded ass approach they are taking[Edited on August 1, 2010 at 2:29 PM.
