And now Hannity has jumped on board with the whole "Why did Obama take so long to respond to the oil spill??"
5/3/2010 4:41:01 PM
CNN's main story from earlier today was something like "oil spill creeps closer to the coast" so it hasn't hit land yet.I posted these in another thread yesterday, but might as well add them here too, since he's gone in person before landfall. This is what Bush was up too they day Katrina hit land:Hannity & Limbaugh can want this to be another Katrina as much as they want, but it just isn't. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are emphasizing the need for government response to corporate failure.
5/3/2010 4:58:32 PM
oh great. another press release from the DNC. thanks for that.
5/3/2010 5:06:30 PM
This is Obama’s Katrina is okay from the right is okay, but no its not & here’s evidence isn’t?
5/3/2010 5:08:19 PM
no one cares about the dumb gay things some worthless radio hosts are talking about, and the only thing worse than someone parroting their noise is you copy pasting talking points directly from the opposite side. Its really really awful

I mean seriously, here is how this shit goes down:some jackass makes a dumb comment to get ratingsDNC in all their brilliance decides they must respond no matter what because they have to make sure they stay on message!!! Throw in a little gouge at bush b/c that makes you look better.original jackass lols, repeats statement, makes more bankDNC gets even more flustered and sends out more talking points about how jackass is wrong and blah blah blah obama is the best thing ever and remember bush??? he was so bad guys!!!Meanwhile everyone rational shuts their tvs off and fucking hates all of you.

I mean hell, I even waited several days to make this thread in order to gauge the magnitude and scope of this disaster so it did not seem like a chicken little knee-jerk reaction. Remember, initial stories/estimates had this thing under control and only leaking out small amounts. I guess since I dragged my feet saying something about this that I don't really care about the environment either.

Im not going to read this thread because I hate oil hating hippies and I dont feel like being in a bad mood tonight. But oil tankers are much more dangerous than rigs.Hey, if you want to destroy the economy and halt advances in the world then go for it.When oil becomes financially imprudent then we'll find these "alternatives" that are so much better.I dont fucking understand you clowns. If I told you to find an alternative to food because I don't like you eating animals then you'd be... oh wait thats right you hippie liberals are already the ones that don't demand free range but claim to save the world.Keep running your LCD tv's and flying in airplanes while you text how much you hate people watering their lawns instead of flooding their chemicals onto pavement into areas that are so dense the environment can't handle it.Being a hippie hasn't been cool since they started drug testing at jobs. Without drugs you guys just have bad ideas and you can't even get laid. At what point do you blame yourself for not being productive enough to make high wages and stop blaming others?
5/3/2010 7:29:57 PM

5/3/2010 7:34:33 PM
^^ I think you mentioned every liberal stereotype in one post. Well done.[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 7:36 PM. Reason : .]
5/3/2010 7:36:30 PM
Stereotypes exist because many people subconsciously identify traits in people they interact with who exhibit odd behaviors and/or propose irrational ideas. These subconscious lobes move closer to the front of the brain when someone is particularly loud, annoying, and wrong. When persons reach their natural age of maturity and accept life for what it is rather than live it in a vacuum of ideas while the play warcraft in their parents basement they begin to identify with living with ideals that support the common good. That in a nutshell is the transition from Democrat to Republican. If you need to reject a null hypothesis on this post, then try Z-testing the age bracket polls of those young, drug loving, basement dwelling, cell phone with unlimited texting liberals against the working class, retirees, investors, and responsible parents of the country.

what a douche. your mind is going to change because of one incident in an industry that has known risks? I hate politics. be consistent. I can at least respect consistency.
5/3/2010 8:45:28 PM
^ people can't be swayed by events? consistency precludes the possibility of learning from your mistakes.
5/3/2010 8:49:00 PM
How about the events of the last millenium where oil rigs didn't exactly blow up every day.You reactionists liberals think because one event occured that you are proven right. If I posted a thread 365 days a year for the past 20 years about how safe oil rigs were today, how many hits would each thread get? Would it make 4 pages? Would it get me suspended from the website?I'm not denying this isn't bad. This is terrible. I hope they can clean this up, I hope they can prevent future ones from occuring. But until you are ready to go back to a pick axe, dying of cholera, and collecting nuts and berries while your wife makes bowls out of clay I hope you can at least consider that oil has made your life exponentially better. If we didn't make trillions off oil we wouldnt have billions to waste on your stupid alternate energies.
5/3/2010 8:55:36 PM
^^^ a single oil spill though can devastate an entire state. “Just one incident” is saying a LOT, when it results in an “incident” that’s 3x larger than the state of RI. It’s just one event, but that’s all it takes to ruin a fishing/beach based economy. When you see how upset the people of La. and other gulf states are, any politician is going to be hard pressed to argue that it wasn’t a big enough deal. Many peoples’ livelihoods are directly threatened. It’s the most rational perspective for a gov. considering his interests are in his people.[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 9:02 PM. Reason : ]

This oil spill won't cost as many people their livelihood as the government did with this economic implosion they created. Get back to me when the coastline of New Orleans is more important to the NATION than the future of our entire country.Dont get me wrong, the oil spill sucks. Just realize this is a tiny blip on the radar that is really more politcally important because of the territories dense black population, the environmentalist loud irrational voices, and the political unpopularity of easily identifiable cause and effects. No one sheds a tear when millions of Americans lose their jobs due to poor government policies, yet I'm supposed to stop enjoying unprotected sex when someone inevitably loses their fishing operation on nearly uninhabitable coastlands. You guys won't spend your own money to save the world, but you would have stolen money from a dying man to save Pangea. Get some perspective you do-nothings.[Edited on May 3, 2010 at 9:15 PM. Reason : I hope you at least pay your own wi-fi bill and aren't responding to this post from Starbucks.]

back on topic - this isn't the first major operations screw-up for BP this decade...it's the 4th. a little history:texas city refinery explosion, 2005:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_City_Refinery_(BP)prudhoe bay pipeline leak, 2006:http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5780579and a near-miss disaster with another offshore platform in 2005, thunder horse. or "blunder horse" as it became known:http://www.dieselduck.ca/images/thunderhorse/index.htmnot all oil majors are terrible operators like BP (Exxon, for instance, has had a great track record since the Valdez), but some companies do have patterns of irresponsible behavior. i'm ok with offshore drilling, but due to the environmental risks involved, we should be very selective as to who we let do the drilling, and the type of punishment when they screw up.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 1:01 AM.
