Graves college basketball game is just like fryes nba game. If somebody gets hurt graves will play 4 and barnes will relieve the 5. Henson is too skinny to play college basketball period but he does it. He will pose a matchup problem for any center and will be able to guard many centers effectively.
5/6/2010 5:28:59 PM
Barnes is a talented swing man. Him trying to guard Jordan Williams or Tracy Smith in the post would be LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLjust stop mang.
5/6/2010 5:31:00 PM
more lol than tracy guarding him? Also, ANYONE trying to guard smith one on one is going to be LOLOLOLOL.
5/6/2010 5:34:39 PM
Tracy wouldn't draw him on defense. Either Leslie would get him in a man, or since they'd likely be forced to go pretty damn small if a SF is playing C (this scenario is fucking stupid man) you'd get a junk defense or zone
5/6/2010 5:39:10 PM
so now we have to play a whole new defense against it? sounds like an effective lineup to me
5/6/2010 5:46:11 PM
You could play with 5 PGs and the other team would have to play something besides man to guard it. Doesn't mean that it's effective.
5/6/2010 5:48:00 PM
But four plus Curtis Sumpter is damn effective.
5/6/2010 5:52:27 PM
Just stop. I think I'll go troll ASU's board because your stupidness is not curing my boredom.
5/6/2010 5:53:46 PM
Or you could just play zone because they have one player who has actually proven to be a threat from the perimeter.
5/6/2010 8:41:24 PM
Let's play college basketball trivia. What was the final national championship to be played in an arena rather than a dome? Name the year, venue, teams and final score.
5/7/2010 12:33:12 AM
In 1996, the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats would beat the Syracuse Orangemen, 76-67, at the Izod Center (then the Continental Airlines Arena) in the Meadowlands Sports Complex. Seating capacity was only 20,000. For comparison, Lucas Oil Stadium, the host of the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, holds a crowd of 70,000 for basketball.Brass Monkey's the guy that knows a shitload about stadiums(a), right?
5/7/2010 1:25:35 AM
You are correct, on both accounts. I hate the fact that they put the games in those huge ass domes now. What's the point in saying "oh I went to the 20__ National Championship game" if you are a mile away from the court and have to watch it on the jumbotron in order to see what the hell is going on?Name the only 3 time ACC Men's Basketball Player of the Year award winners. Include their school and years they won the award.
5/7/2010 1:47:56 AM
lol, Len Bias won it more than Jordan.
5/7/2010 2:19:10 AM
David Thompson, State - 73, 74, 75 (National POY in 75)Ralph Sampson, UVA - 81, 82, 83 (National POY all three years)
5/7/2010 2:23:41 AM
You are correct Big Ego. You get the bonus for naming the years they won NPOY as well. Spontaneous got a bonus for comparing the sizes of the 1996 venue and this past years venue.Spontaneous - 2Big Ego - 2Name the last team to go undefeated in a season. Include the coach, record and MOP of the tournament (this will probably surprise a lot of you considering who else was on the team).
5/7/2010 4:05:53 PM
just season or tourney too? if it's tourney too I can name about half of it including why it's surprising that a certain someone wasn't the MOP of the tourney. Don't know record or the MOP off the top of my head.]
5/7/2010 4:10:37 PM
Bobby Knight, IndianaIf you don't know that, you should be taken out back and shotIf you know the record and MOP, you spent more time on Google than I was willing to waste[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 4:14 PM. Reason : ]
5/7/2010 4:13:54 PM
If you only take undefeated season into consideration it's UNLV, and that douche from Duke was probably MOP
5/7/2010 4:15:32 PM
Fun fact about that Final Four in New Jersey that Spontaneous mentioned. That was the first of John Calipari's two vacated Final Fours. Of course led by Edgar Padilla and Carmelo Travieso (oh and Marcus Camby -- but he got in trouble for banging strippers on Calipari's dime in the dorms).[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 4:18 PM. Reason : x]
5/7/2010 4:16:45 PM
Kent Benson was the MOP of the 1976 NCAA Tournament. Very surprising considering both Scott May (the 1976 NPOY) and Quinn Buckner were on that Indiana team as well.
5/7/2010 4:20:15 PM
This thread makes me long for the days of Ernie's Baseball Trivia Thread II
5/7/2010 4:25:36 PM
Google says Indiana went 32-0 that year.
5/7/2010 4:37:21 PM
Score is still Spontaneous 2, Big Ego 2 since all of the criteria wasn't answered in the last question. What coach is the only coach to ever take three different schools to the Final Four? Name the schools and years.
5/7/2010 4:44:46 PM
5/7/2010 4:44:59 PM
PitinoUK multiple times, Louisville in 05 or 06, Providence in the late 80sFuck a google[Edited on May 7, 2010 at 4:57 PM. Reason : maybe mid 80s, the year before the Knicks]
5/7/2010 4:56:32 PM
Eh, I'll give Ernie credit for this one. Providence in 1987, Kentucky in 1993, 1996, and 1997, and Louisville in 2005.Spontaneous - 2Big Ego - 2Ernie - 1
5/7/2010 4:59:25 PM
I thought St. Joes lost a game before the tourney? maybe it was in their conference tourney?
5/7/2010 5:05:06 PM
St. Joe's lost in their conference tournament. They even hung a banner saying "Undefeated Season".
5/7/2010 5:16:57 PM
Similar to Duke's 1999 final AP #1 banner![Edited on May 7, 2010 at 5:23 PM. Reason : actually don't we have a banner for DT's first year on the varsity?]
5/7/2010 5:23:07 PM
who lost first that year, St. Joe's or Stanford?I'd assume Stanford but I think I remember them being the final 2 undefeated teams that year]
5/7/2010 5:35:32 PM
Stanford lost with like 2 games to go before conference tourneys I think, but don't quote me on it.St. Joes lost in the conference tourney a week later]
5/7/2010 6:48:08 PM
Stanford lost on the last day of their regular season (March 6) at Washington, 75-62.St. Joe's lost in their conference tourney opener (March 11) to Xavier, 87-67.The Cardinal went 26-0 before their first loss and the Hawks went 27-0]
5/7/2010 6:50:52 PM
5/7/2010 6:51:33 PM
I guess it is. I usually just think of postseason as NCAA/NIT only
5/7/2010 6:58:03 PM
5/7/2010 6:58:57 PM
does the glass house have doors?
5/7/2010 7:04:47 PM
So the Bob Knight coached Indiana Hoosiers went 32-0 (18-0) led by tournament top scorer Scott May (113 points) and MOP Kent Benson. The 1976 NCAA tournament was the first to pit two Big 10 teams in the title game.
5/7/2010 7:07:17 PM
Damn, I thought this would be continuous.
5/9/2010 8:48:29 PM
me too
5/9/2010 8:52:03 PM
Bob Knight is the shit. Winning a lot with comparatively little NBA talent.
5/9/2010 9:40:46 PM
Sorry guys. Got a big biochem test coming up this week, so I've been studying all day. Just got home. After UCLA's 88 game winning streak, what is the second longest winning streak in college basketball? Include team, length of streak, and year(s).
5/9/2010 10:14:08 PM
Technically, it's the UConn Lady Huskies, but I'm guessing you wanted Men's, which is much harder to find.
5/9/2010 11:26:19 PM
What are the lineups in the ACC looking like next year?
5/10/2010 2:06:31 PM

5/10/2010 2:07:23 PM
Spontaneous I am offended that you would bring women's basketball into this discussion.
5/10/2010 5:53:14 PM
Brief lapse. I forgot this is Sports Talk.
5/10/2010 7:29:57 PM
After some research I believe (note: I'm not completely certain) the 47-game winning streak by Lew Alcindor's teams was the second longest. The streak ended at the Houston Astrodome as a record 52,693 fans watched the Houston Cougars upset the Bruins, 71-69. Another notable streak was the UNLV Runnin' Rebels 45-game winning streak that was ended by the Duke Blue Devils in the 1991 NCAA semifinal. Here's a little noteworthy State trivia. In 1982 State was tied for 1st in scoring defense nationally with Princeton, allowing only 49.1 ppg. In 1948 State lead the land with the highest scoring margin with a 28.1 scoring margin (Offense - 75.3, Defense - 47.2).
5/12/2010 4:50:13 PM
I figured that UCLA would probably have the second longest streak too.
5/12/2010 5:08:45 PM
So here's what I predict the tv schedule for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge to look like now that they've released the dates.Nov. 29thVirginia @ Minnesota - ESPNU - 7:00 pmNov. 30thFlorida State @ Ohio State - ESPN - 7:00 pmGeorgia Tech @ Northwestern - ESPNU - 7:00 pmIowa @ Wake Forest - ESPN2 - 7:30 pmNorth Carolina @ Illinois - ESPN - 9:00 pmMichigan @ Clemson - ESPN2 - 9:30 pmDec. 1stNorth Carolina State at Wisconsin - ESPN - 7:15 pmMaryland @ Penn State - ESPN2 - 7:30 pmIndiana at Boston College - ESPNU - 7:30 pmMichigan State at Duke - ESPN - 9:15 pmPurdue @ Virginia Tech - ESPN2 - 9:30 pmThe only one that I think could be different is the Purdue/VT matchup taking the spot I have our game in.
5/12/2010 6:40:39 PM
of course the unc game is primetime.
