i wonder if that will stop some teams from huddling around home plate on walk off HR?
5/30/2010 11:08:40 AM
^ Doubt it. Short term teams may not celebrate as much on a walk-off, probably less jumping around, but long term something like this will happen again. Honestly looking at the replay it looks like Morales is just uncoordinated and landed poorly on his jump onto home plate. Dude is fat so that played a role in the severity of the injury.
5/30/2010 11:24:06 AM
damn, Max Scherzer struck out 14 batters in 5-2/3 innings today. That means he struck out 14 of the 17 batters he faced
5/30/2010 3:22:49 PM
he actually faced 24 batters...2 hits, 4 walks, 1 hit-by-pitch...but 14 Ks is always impressive, especially in less than 6 inningsi got a little scare when span and hudson collided in that twins win just now]
5/30/2010 11:24:31 PM
how pathetic is this?http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5236340
5/31/2010 4:59:05 PM
Ubaldo is so sick. No, I'm not realizing this just now, but he is on MLB Network and I don't get to see him throw often...
5/31/2010 5:55:17 PM
^^^I meant to say he struck out 14 of the 17 possible outs, not batters faced^^I think its more pathetic for the people buying the tickets, if they buy a ticket and then act like they were actually in attendance to witness the perfect game
5/31/2010 6:08:52 PM
that's where I was coming from, because you know that is EXACTLY what people are going to do
5/31/2010 6:13:11 PM
they apparently sold 3,500 tickets
6/2/2010 1:28:02 PM
after watching the Mark Buerhle "balk" incident with the umpire, then the bad call that the ump made to steal away Armando Galarraga's perfect game makes me wonder, what the fuck is up with the umpires being such a big part of the game now. Seems like they are trying really really hard to steal some of the spotlight
6/2/2010 9:00:43 PM
thank God that Selig is a baseball purist, for the most part.otherwise a botched call like that could lead to a big-time push for all-around instant replay and maybe coach challenges. that would kill the beauty of the game
6/2/2010 9:05:56 PM
i prefer getting the call right to "purity"if you want "purity" get rid of the dh and bring back the spitball
6/2/2010 9:13:26 PM
so you want coaches to be able to throw a red challenge flag?
6/2/2010 9:16:32 PM
i don't think it would be so bad to have somebody in a booth somewhere watching replays all the time, and just tell them whether they got it right or wrong, obviously only when a coach would ask and maybe once per team per game.. i'm sure most of them wouldn't use them most of the time anyways
6/2/2010 9:19:56 PM
doesnt have to be flags, but yes, I have no problem with a coach being able to make sure a call is right once per game
6/2/2010 9:21:30 PM
coach needs extra time to warm up a reliever in the 8thrunner is safe by a mile, but coach demands a review just to buy an extra 10 minutes
6/2/2010 9:31:23 PM
dickhead managers like Ozzie, Lou and Jerry Manual will call a review every game just to be dickheads
6/2/2010 9:32:39 PM
no different from slowly walking to the mound
6/2/2010 9:33:28 PM
no different** very different
6/2/2010 9:34:08 PM
not as big of a difference as youre making it out to be[Edited on June 2, 2010 at 9:38 PM. Reason : i.e. 10 minutes is ocmplete overexaggeration]
6/2/2010 9:38:29 PM
This is no reason to call for instant replayI don't want MLB games to become as boring as NFL games

The Yanks lost a heart breaker to the jays today and wasted another good outing from Andy....ugh
6/5/2010 10:15:13 PM
we might need a "Triple Crown Watch" threadPujols and Cabrera both have a legit shot this year
6/5/2010 10:38:37 PM
Adam Wainwright could contend for the pitching Triple Crown......if not for some guy named Ubaldo Jimenez.
6/5/2010 11:12:08 PM
Cabrera only needs to improve his batting average by about 25 pointsI already hate this guy
6/6/2010 1:24:32 AM
motherfuck i hate the All-Star voting for major league baseball.Jimmy Rollins leading shortstop vote getter, seriously???Martin Prado almost a million votes behind chase utley??A player from the phillies being the top 2 vote getter at every fucking position?? are you shitting me?fuck the all-star game
6/6/2010 2:09:23 AM
Does anyone pay attention to the draft, at least in passing? I have that free ESPN insider subscription so I've been reading Keith Law's mocks... he seems to think the Mets are going to take Harvey, which would suck... low ceiling for that position and a Tar Heel... Mets really need to start going overslot to compensate for losing compensation picks for signing Type A's...Oh, I guess Ernie might since he hates Bryce already...^ re: Rollins I agree but Utley has a 132 OPS+ and Prado's is 118. What is the issue there? Utley is clearly the more deserving player, as is Uggla.]

6/6/2010 3:24:17 PM
i just saw 2 male Cardinals fighting in a tree in my backyardthat obviously means Holliday and Molina are going to each hit 2 homeruns tonight
6/6/2010 5:56:45 PM
I'm pretty sure it means Ryan Franklin is going to get the win tonight
6/6/2010 7:11:23 PM
read this from a baseball thread on the something awful forums:
6/6/2010 10:40:30 PM
His numbers are unbelievable0.78 ERA (the lowest since WWII was Gibson in 69, 1.12)572 ERA+ (Pedro in 2000, 291)0.896 WHIP (Pedro in 2000, 0.737)5.2 H/9 (Ryan in 72, 5.2)In his only loss, he gave up 1 run on 2 hits in 7 inningsAnd he does it all without being in the top 10 in K/9This might be the best pitching season ever[Edited on June 6, 2010 at 10:52 PM.
