do you think the old lady could be raylan's mother? or is she supposed to be dead?

also, i watched the whole thing thinking it was the season finale... then i found out there is another episode...sweet!
would have been fine as a season finale

I like the dixie mafia theory. It has to be someone with some major power because that guy looked like he had seen a ghost and she must have easily convinced him to turn himself in and free dickie....

Have you guys ever read about the Dixie Mafia? My fiance' was blown away when I started telling him about it during the commercial break - he thought it was all just part of the story They're fascinating to me

Oh and I guess I never posted it here - I think Black Pike is really the Dixie Mafia and they're playing everyone

i had another thought...

the old lady may have been Jed's mother. Mags may have made her an offer to take care of her and jed's wife/kid if she convinced him to take the fall..
Mags could easily bribe someone with all that money she came into

^Not really, considering up until joining with Dickie he had been a pretty straight edge guy as far as we could tell. He was a family man who got roped in, he obviously cared a lot about what his wife thought.

I assumed it was his mother and she had been threatened by Mags, I think you guys are reading too much into it.

yeah the look on his face was the look of a guy who had been pretty clean all of a sudden seeing his mother while he is being locked up...

we'll see

I don't think I'm really reading too much into it. Mags mentioned something in the beginning to Dickie (I believe) about Dixie Mafia.. Something along the lines of, "Do you want the Dixie Mafia coming up here???"

But so far they haven't come out in the story -- seeing as there's only 2 episodes left, I think it's time for their appearance

they have been in the story. that guy that Raylan threatened in the RV or trailer was dixie mafia. I can't remember his name, but he was in cahoots with Gary (Winona's husband)... it was 2-3 episodes ago

edit: I looked up his name...it was Wynn Duffy. Websites say he was a member of the dixie mafia

Now THAT is definitely reading too much into it...Black Pike is pretty obviously a stand-in for Massey Energy. You can't just assume everything that isn't completely spelled out is the work of the Dixie Mafia.

My guess is the dixie mafia has some involvement in the finale and they are the big bad for next season.

^3 Oh I wasn't paying attention much during that episode, to be honest.. maybe I shouldn't do homework and watch Justified. But at the same time, I can't imagine it would just end so easily with such a major crime group.

^2 I don't see why that's reading so much into it.. :\ A mob group like that could be involved in big companies

^ Yeah good point - gotta leave people wanting more

I'm just going to assume the stuff with Black Pike is commentary about how mining companies use up the natural resources and leave the land poisoned and worthless since that is way more prescient and relevant than some silly theory about the Dixie Mafia secretly running a huge mining conglomerate.

Was that really necessary?

Here is the way I see it, and if anyone disagrees, there's really no need to get all disgruntled.. It's a tv show! Everyone is going to come up with different ideas as to what will happen. That's part of the fun when watching a show like this.

Anyway, I think the Dixie Mafia is involved with Black Pike. First of all, owning a lot of that land would give them lots of opportunities to invest in more drugs and things of that nature, which is one of their main sources of income I guess you could say. Secondly, I thought it was very strange how the lady from Black Pike apparently didn't know about all the roads Mags owns. Please. A company that big would probably investigate. I think they were really just trying to suck Mags in, if that makes sense, and I think Boyd is involved/knew about said sucking in. Boyd was be the Dixie Mafia's dream - he's extremely smart and good at what he does. He also mentioned getting into the drug hijacking business, which is a major thing the Dixie Mafia does as well. Plus, Mags mentioned the Dixie Mafia earlier... so maybe they're trying to sneak up on her by bringing in people she would not expect to be involved. Finally, the way that man looked at the lady in prison was very strange - I highly doubt he would be that scared of someone unless he knew they could fuck him up bad.

As for the situation with Gary, I think it's weird that they would just kind of leave that story line hanging. So ultimately, Dixie Mafia has to be involved somewhere.

Also, it would make sense for them to be majorly involved soon because in the first season it was all about the Crowder's running the drugs. This season they tried to make it seem like Mags and the rest of the Bennetts would be taking over, but it doesn't seem like much is coming into fruition. Perhaps Dixie Mafia is about to strike when they see she's weak?

I suspect Black Pike knew about the roads but they certainly weren't going to say "hey you're in a much stronger bargaining position than you thought let us cut you a way bigger check"...the redhead didn't need to know about the roads unless Mags did. It seems to me like you're so excited about the idea of the Dixie Mafia that you think they're some huge presence when in reality they're fringe players at best in this show. They may well play a larger role in the next season, and they may be involved with convincing dude to take the murder rap but nothing in the show or what you've posted even remotely suggests that the Dixie Mafia controls Black Pike

I don't think you really understood what I meant by Black Pike knowing about the roads. I think they are playing like they didn't know them, and opted to buy out Mags, but in the end are going to screw her big time to the point of where that money is chump change.

I just don't see the need to be so rude about all this... And no, I'm not so excited about the Dixie Mafia that I'm trying to tie them into everything - it's just something I've wondered about throughout the show, along with a few other things. No reason to be bitchy. :\

I'm not being bitchy, just expressing my opinion frankly. I would think less of this show if it were prone to nonsensical plot twists like the one you're suggesting. And Black Pike may well be out to screw Mags but that doesn't at all connect them to the Dixie Mafia it just connects them to capitalism.

Why are you acting like I'm obsessed with this "plot twist" and just trying to make a huge production about it? If anything, you're making it into a bigger deal than I ever have. I, too, am just stating my opinion on where I think the show is going. And you actually are being kind of a bitch about it.

Jesus, you always seem like such a grumpy person. Just because you don't agree doesn't mean it is a nonsensical statement. Seems like you are taking this way too personally..

And actually, it could connect them to the Dixie Mafia seeing as she was all worried earlier in the season that her boys were over stepping their bounds and could piss them off... then within a few episodes Black Pike shows up.

I'm not saying there's a 100% chance connected. It's just my thoughts about the show. You have your thoughts, I have mine, and whatever happens with the ending of this season I'm sure will be interesting no matter what story line it follows. But really? This is silly and unnecessary. It's just a TV show - no need to take it so seriously and suck the fun out of sharing ideas.

pot meet kettle. You're the one typing novels about it and I'm the one making it into a bigger deal? Give me a break. And ask yourself who is really taking it personally when you're the one getting flustered and insulting me.

Well, I hate to break it to you but I'm not flustered. To be quite honest, I just don't have the emotional energy to become flustered at this point in time. I will apologize for saying you're kind of being a bitch about it. But really, you never seem to have anything nice to say and always want to start something.

Like I said, it's a tv show. Please don't suck the fun out of it.

First off an apology followed by a "but" isn't really an apology at all, and secondly I've done my best to keep the discourse civil and refrain from personal attacks, which you obviously aren't interested in doing. I'm just going to leave it alone after this and I hope you will choose to do the same since we obviously aren't making any headway.

For the record, it was a true apology for calling you a name. However, I don't think it's right for you to go out of your way to basically mock my "silly theory" and say things like my ideas about this season are nonsensical in such a rude way for absolutely no reason. I am perfectly ok agreeing to disagree with others about the show, but please realize the best way to keep things civil isn't to start off with rude and sarcastic comments. :\ But, like I said, we can just agree to disagree and see where the plot goes.

Yeah I'm pretty positive the Dixie Mafia will play no more then a 5% role in the end of this season. I don't think they had anything to do with the guy in jail and I don't think they have anything to do with Black Pike.

Now it wouldn't surprise me if at the end of the finale, after whatever inevitable war we are getting ends and we think the episode is winding down, the Dixie Mafia makes an attempt on Raylan or Winona. The first season didn't really end with a cliffhanger, I think they know they are pretty secure in their position now on FX and it wouldnt surprise me to see them take a bigger risk ending this season.

***SMALL, UNIMPORTANT SPOILER***

Quote :
"Samwise16: Ava >>>>>>>> Winona"

Totally.

In season one, I got the impression that Winona was like an attorney or something. She almost seemed out of Raylan's league.

Then, we find out she's a court reporter, an idiot thief who is also married to an idiot, and a desperate vine swinger (was there any down time at all between her husband and Raylan?). I mean, I certainly can relate to her better this season but now I can hardly recall why Raylan got back together with her. She really doesn't have much going for her, which actually may be the appeal. And of course she's pregnant or whatever.

That episode was great. Sort of pissed they didn't show Tim as the one who pulled the trigger at the end, in a show full of great characters hes one of the best ones.

Not as much bloodshed as I expected, ending went as I figured with the exception that I thought it was going to happen with just Loretta there instead of Raylan.

Thinking about it though... I hope they don't just start next season with Winona just leaving Raylan because he got shot so thats why he stays, I hope the Dixie Mafia shows up in a big way and forces him to remain in Kentucky.

What I find puzzling/annoying is that everyone lives out in the boonies on HUGE tracts of land, yet people still show up, out of nowhere, from behind a tree to surprise everyone.
