I've hit contact shots out of the park, I've hit power shots down the line for doubles...but when I get a fastball high in the zone and make a good power swing, chances are I'm going yard

Hottballs Johnson is tearing up the NL as an 18 year-old rookie.340/.375/.600, ~11 HR, ~25 RBII hit a grand slam back in the minors and had my first walk off homer a few games backI think I've only played 3-4 regular games, My Player is the shit

double postlol at the Bing ad
4/12/2010 5:27:42 PM
i suck too much at the batting
4/12/2010 6:46:05 PM
when do you guys choose power and contact swings? Sometimes i make just as hard of contact with a contact swing as i do with power swings....is there a time when you choose power over contact?
4/19/2010 2:16:57 PM
Generally speaking, I do power swings for fastballs and contact swings for offspeed pitches
4/19/2010 2:22:34 PM
I suck at hitting.. what role does the left thumbstick play when y'all are hitting?
4/19/2010 3:06:59 PM
I try not to really use the left stick while hitting...if I get an inside pitch and try to pull it, I usually hit it foul...same thing with outside pitches and trying to go the other wayAlso when I try to push up on the left stick for a power swing, I think I'm more likely to pop/fly out, whereas I have better luck with power swings by not hitting the left stick at all
4/19/2010 3:27:11 PM
I don't use the left stick at all. 99% of the time I'm power swinging with less than two strikes.
4/19/2010 3:37:24 PM
Once I got my My Player to have 99 batters eye against both LHP and RHP, I usually know what pitch is coming and I have found that Contact swings tend to work better against off speed stuff...I've hit plenty of homers with contact swingsAlthough it varies pitcher to pitcher, and its harder to tell whats gonna get thrown if they have a 90mph 4 seamer, an 80mph 2 seamer, a 90mph sinker, and an 80mph slider, for example

I think I agree with the original post [that it sucks not to have a PS3 and MLB10 The Show], but I need a baseball fix. The last baseball game I played was MVP 2005 (which I wish could be played on 360 somehow and I wouldn't need a new game), but I just want a game with good gameplay and realistic stats -- I don't really care about graphics that much as long as it plays well. I guess I'm in for 2K10. Will I be disappointed?
4/19/2010 3:59:44 PM
I think the My Player mode makes the jump from 2K9 to 2K10 better than any of the other previous releases...I probably wouldn't have even bought this game if it were just another repackaged version of the previous year's edition, but I've put tons of hours into the game just for the My Player mode aloneIf the last game you've played is MVP 2005, I think you'll be pleased with 2K10
4/19/2010 4:03:41 PM
Thanks, I might go pick it up tonight.
4/19/2010 4:04:48 PM
My Player mode is fantasticMost every other mode is broken, though
4/19/2010 4:15:42 PM
the lag playing online is horrible.. I seem to remember being able to get a lot more hits in mlb 2k9 online. now it's almost a joke
4/19/2010 5:39:52 PM
whats the longest home run you guys have hit with your myplayers? i just went 458
4/19/2010 7:26:50 PM

Random stupid questions. Im about to buy The Show so I can do an online dynasty with some friends. I've scoured the intrawebs and have not found a definitive answer as to whether I can have more than two people playing in an online dynasty as once. Ive got 4 that want to participate. I know NCAA football lets you do this, but I didnt know about The ShowAlso, can you cut the amount of games in a season down? Always seemed like in past baseball games, it was hard to keep everybody's interest for a full season of games.

what. the. fuck.so i drafted this guy in my franchise, and everytime i try and use him as a pinch hitter, my game freezes.
5/9/2010 12:23:33 AM
^actually, every position player that i drafted it does that to....no matter if i start them, pinch hit them, whatever. Everytime i come up to bat with a drafted guy.....game freezes.

My name is Jim. I am 53 years old today as a matter of fact. I have been playing sports games since I was about 12 years old. I began with a game that my best friend and I invented, using baseball cards and playing cards. We'd sit for hours on hot summer days making up lineups and playing every game of every team each day. Keeping standings, basic stats etc all on a legal pad. From there I moved on to "Electric Football". You know, Vibrating football by Tudor. We had every team (Dark and light jerseys) between the two of us. I bought all the AFC teams and he bought the NFC. Again, keepingstandings stats etc. Next I found "Statis-Pro Baseball". I think I played every season in its entirety from 1972 until 1990. I also owned Statis-Pro Basketball, Hockey,Football , Tennis, Golf, and even Horse racing, and enjoyed every one of them in detail. And then of course, I later discovered video gaming... And the rest is history. But I gotta say, as others have already.. That this MLB10 is simply unbelievable, and I've played them all. In fact, I'm currently playing a full 30 team franchise, all CPU, all settings on auto or default. And I intend to "Watch" every single game of every team just like we did back when I was 12. At the rate I'm going, I figure it'll take about three years to complete one season, assuming my PS3 doesnt burn up beforehand. But I need to see how the CPU plays out (not sims) the entire drama of day to day Baseball. I want to see how accurately the CPU actually processes actual pitch-by-pitch action over an entire season. I've done this for every game I've ever owned; Why change now? Anyway, thats my story and my plan.
