But they weren't really lesbians (if you're talking about Trills)
2/4/2010 10:46:45 AM
Riker hooked up with an ambiguous sex-less alien.Quark was a drag-queen for an episode.
2/4/2010 11:00:31 AM
Well, yes. But there have never been any "I'm clearly gay, and not for comic relief. And here is my gay lover" characters.
2/4/2010 11:01:06 AM
Yea, I can't think of any. However that Riker episode was all about love-freedom and self-determination.I think he's talking about the alternate-universe Kira Nerise who was clearly a lesbian.
2/4/2010 11:05:02 AM
Well, actually she was more narcisisstic than anything. Nana Visitor has given interviews where she explicitly stated that she didn't play the character to be a lesbian, just someone who was so in love with themselves that they wanted to be loved by everyone.Although there did seem to be a lot of lesbians in the mirror universe (Leeta/Ezri HELLOOOO )
2/4/2010 11:10:21 AM
yeah the mirror universe is the shit.
2/4/2010 11:23:00 AM
2/4/2010 11:23:52 AM
^that statement is incorrect. Comparing Star Wars to Star Trek is like comparing Apples to a Deep Dish Pizza.
2/4/2010 11:33:15 AM
But they both have the word "Star" in the name so they must be the same. All asians with slanty eyes are exactly the same too. just fyi
2/4/2010 11:48:31 AM
Man this is some gay shit. /add to my topics

I am not a big fan of the series, but I did enjoy the movies "Generations" and "First Contact." That borg creature in First Contact that had her head lowered and connected to her body was cool.
2/4/2010 12:45:04 PM
Star Trek Online.Have you played/will you play it?
2/4/2010 12:48:35 PM
possibly...
2/4/2010 3:56:19 PM
where does everyone poop??
2/4/2010 4:09:33 PM
bathroom's, the real question is what are the seashells for?
2/4/2010 4:12:52 PM
He doesn't know how to use the three seashells! hahahahaha!

What does God need with a starship?
2/5/2010 2:43:43 AM
well played.i don't have time to play it, i might get more interested once they come out with more ships and other factions....i don't like how they have the ship classes.... they should start out with TOS era ships and then move up the tech ladder... but they are all over the place... 'brand new' classes are placed lower than 'old' classes

My friend just got the collector's pack of the movies with the original cast, so we're watching them. Maybe this has been covered...1) Why did the Klingon ship have a database that included info on every animal on Earth? I'm referring to when Spock or someone was able to identify the alien beacon within minutes by running the sound against the sound of every animal/species on Earth (never mind how the entire federation was completely clueless to the process Kirk used to determine that the noise was the same as a whale).I guess they could have updated the computers on Vulcan, but an extinct animal wiki doesn't seem like it would be a priority. Maybe they remoted into Earth's data banks, but I thought the Earth was essentially powered down - which would at least explain how the federation couldn't figure out it was a whale. Then again I'm pretty sure that the federation had quite a bit of time to analyze the signal before the probe arrived.2) Did the transporter beam on the Klingon ship at the end of part 4 have a limited range? Why not beam the whales aboard as soon as they were located? I guess they did all that just to have the dramatic face off with the whalers.3) Why did they call Kirstie Alley Mr. the entire movie (part 2).[Edited on February 9, 2010 at 11:17 AM. Reason : -]
2/9/2010 11:13:26 AM
1. They did update their stuff on Vulcan. I'd imagine 200-300 years from now one would be able to pop in a flash drive and upload the entire contents of present day wikipedia in seconds.2. Yes, transporters have a limited range, but also this is by far the largest transporter job scotty had ever done. Not only that, but the transporters were already having issues they had to fix up during the course of the movie.3. It's a military thing. [Edited on February 9, 2010 at 11:27 AM. Reason : ]

Why say "nuclear wessel" when the substituting of a "v" sound for a "w" sound is a shibboleth of russian speakers?
2/13/2010 2:55:59 PM
^why be a vagina
2/13/2010 3:42:39 PM
^^because part of the character of Chekhov was the notoriously bad accent. it was humorous.
2/13/2010 4:30:28 PM
If they can do sight to sight transport on star ships, why do they always go to the transporter room to get transported on away missions. For that matter, why even have a transporter pad?
3/9/2010 11:20:09 PM
why can't you exceed warp factor 10
3/9/2010 11:26:44 PM
first of all s/sight/site/Site to Site transportation takes roughly 10x the energy as a direct transport to a pad so really its just a simple matter of efficiency. Why can't you exceed warp 10? Well simply because that's the way the old scale was designed...that it would take infinite energy to reach warp 10. Keep in mind that warp factor is a logarithmic scale so even small decimal discrepancies in upper warp 9 speeds make a tremendous difference
3/9/2010 11:31:01 PM
There was an episode of Voyager where they broke the warp 10 barrier. It was not good for business as the pilot became something of a trans dimensional being. He was in a split second everywhere at once.
3/9/2010 11:44:14 PM
Enterprise is the best, rite
3/10/2010 12:05:00 AM
Enterprise = teh fail

That was the worst episode of Voyager ever. It did win an Emmy for best makeup.

Voyager is the only one I watch
3/10/2010 12:38:09 PM
well i have ever episode of every series. just not sure which are worth watching
3/10/2010 12:39:22 PM
The last three seasons of DS9 are as a whole the best of the bunch. Now there are some bad episodes in there and I am partial to space battles...so... In general though if you want the best episodes of any of the shows then watch he last 3 or 4 seasons. or with enterprise watch the last season and parts of the 3rd.
3/10/2010 12:41:50 PM
The 7 of 9 ones are pretty good.
3/10/2010 12:41:55 PM
cool, will look into thosealthough the gf hates hates hates star trek..so i have to sneak it in, lol
3/10/2010 12:51:52 PM
^ that and your ranch apparently
3/10/2010 12:54:00 PM
yea i had it hid in the bottom drawer for a while but she found it
3/10/2010 1:01:15 PM
Voyager really picks up after Scorpion parts 1 and 2, which I think is the two parter that ends season 4. (somehow this corresponds to 7 of 9 entering the show...)DS9 picks up really hard core at the end of season 5.Enterprise: is only even considered any good in seasons 3 and 4TNG has crappy episodes throughout, but I would avoid season 1 altogether. To try and give a better idea.

There are however, many forms of propulsion that exceed the warp 10 barrier. Like the Borg has transwarp (IE outside the regular theoretical warp scale), quantum slipstream, etc.Someone needs to ask another question.
