WaitIke Davis is a white dude?
4/19/2010 3:15:22 PM
Haha. He's a Jewish kid I'm pretty sure with that first name. He's also the #5 hot topic on Google right now and #9 hot search.
4/19/2010 4:26:51 PM
^clearly he isn't popular on yahoo, cause he's still not listed in their fantasy database
4/19/2010 4:49:41 PM
Mets management is seeing what Heyward is doing for the Braves and hope their future star can do the same in the bigs. Should have just started the season with him if you're going to bring him up now. Oh well I guess that's what 4-8 does to you.
4/19/2010 4:55:12 PM
Not really. Today is the first day you can add new guys to the 40-man roster and call them up without losing a full service year. He will be under their control until 2016 now, which isn't a HUGE deal for a major market club like the Mets but with Reyes and Wright coming due for contracts soon and a really strong free agent class of pitchers next year they need to think long-term with financial flexibility. If he is good enough to be a Super Two guy, then that is a good thing but he still wouldn't be a FA until after 2016.[Edited on April 19, 2010 at 4:59 PM. Reason : x]
4/19/2010 4:58:47 PM
^ Okay I am a dumbass and I don't understand the Super Two rules. Seriously. I thought the Super Two crap was based on games played. By only missing 12 games, I figured this would put Davis (assuming he plays/stays on the roster the remaining 150 games) over the limit and would now become a FA sooner. I guess I need to go back to the Braves thread and read more about it.Okay this cleared it up for me:
4/19/2010 5:42:23 PM
Frenchy MURDERED Ike with the old shaving cream after the game when Burkhardt was interviewing him, lol...
4/19/2010 10:43:07 PM
so was this the plan all along? or did they just figure might as well since Jacobs was sucking it up?
4/19/2010 11:53:25 PM
i'd say it was a bit of bothi dont think anybody expected jacobs to hit .300, but he was pretty much an out everytime through the lineup
4/20/2010 12:50:01 AM
wins > TWW pagesis it because the mets are playing slightly better or because we stopped caring and are posting less?
4/20/2010 1:38:55 PM
I care still... watch every game.
4/20/2010 2:09:47 PM
I am watching only because the Mets have been on national TV three days in a row. Otherwise I hope the pages>wins trend continues.
4/20/2010 2:16:21 PM
I can't spend 3 hours every day for 6 months watching baseball anymoreSucks growing upI watch from the 7th inning on when its close and I'm home, and whenever Santana pitches
4/20/2010 2:21:43 PM
Well, I don't watch every game and certainly hardly ever in entirety. But when I'm around I'll throw it on my laptop and watch.Like Saturday, I watched from like 4-6, went to dinner and then the bars and happened to catch the last two innings at a bar downtown so drank some beer and watched it.I don't let the Mets preclude me from going out or to the gym or anything...
4/20/2010 2:52:34 PM
Wow Pelfrey...just...wow.I can't believe that's really the same guy.
4/21/2010 3:14:24 AM
Pelfrey looked outstanding again last night. I actually picked him up for my fantasy team a couple of days ago and I'm glad I did. Let's see if he can sustain this nice run.[Edited on April 21, 2010 at 8:40 AM. Reason : sd]

Last night they clinched the 1st series that they will not loseTonight they try to actually win their 1st series this year (this would also make for a 3 game win streak)
4/21/2010 6:39:41 PM
^^but only 2 games out of first place
4/21/2010 7:54:41 PM
ike made a sick catch in the first
4/21/2010 8:13:20 PM
Wright is getting booed mercilessly right now and I hate it... Let the motherfucker get out of his slump you fucking morons. Beltran still holds a grudge for the ignorant fucksticks booing him for playing through an injury that he should have been sidelined for anyway in 2005 -- pulled quad.
4/22/2010 10:48:26 AM
Franceour is in an 0-22 slump. Ha ha. They should just start calling slumps "Frenchies"
4/22/2010 1:57:43 PM

we're out of the cellar!
4/25/2010 12:43:51 AM
Hopefully the rain holds off. We're hot right now and we have our best pitcher so far going tonight. Would love the sweep. By the way, this is the first time we've won back to back series since May of last year -- ouch.
4/25/2010 9:18:44 AM
That should do it... no way this game is starting again looking at that NASTY radar...
4/25/2010 10:10:52 PM
the rule is 5 complete innings to be an official game, right?
4/25/2010 10:42:58 PM
yep
4/25/2010 10:43:39 PM
game was called...first official sweep of the season! 7-3 of our last 10, tied for 2nd place, 1.5 games out of first...things are looking up! i'm trying hard not to get too excited given how the first week went, but my hopes are on the rise
4/26/2010 12:04:01 AM
definitely will take the win. hope they can keep the mojo goin for the dodgers...would love to see more run production though
4/26/2010 2:24:53 AM
I think yall will be fine when Jason Bay consistently gets his head out of his ass. And so will my fantasy team.
4/26/2010 12:13:42 PM
Mets up to #16 from #26 in ESPN's power rankings.http://espn.go.com/mlb/powerrankings
4/26/2010 5:39:32 PM
Damn it! PPD tonight.Doubleheader tomorrow starting at 4... means we're going to have to see Gary Matthews, Jr's. no hitting ass and maybe even Tatis. ** On the plus side, Sunday should be fantastic. ESPN Sunday Night game -- Johan v. Halladay[Edited on April 26, 2010 at 6:10 PM. Reason : x]

mets.com has Johan listed as the probable starter for the early game tomorrow...(Ollie set to pitch the second game)[Edited on April 26, 2010 at 8:07 PM. Reason : -]
4/26/2010 8:06:37 PM
only one game behind after tonight. great opportunity to make some noise tomorrow.
4/27/2010 1:08:04 AM
^especially with the series against the phillies coming up this weekend
4/27/2010 12:01:37 PM
Great two wins today. Nice to see Wright get out of his slump. If the Giants can drop the Phils tonight looks like the boys will be in first place.
4/27/2010 11:16:34 PM
we're technically in first place now...tied anywaywhat a day/week/series of series though...and a great time to have johan on your fantasy team
4/27/2010 11:37:31 PM
phillies lost, sole possession of 1st place!
4/28/2010 3:16:47 AM
4/28/2010 9:03:21 AM
5-1 after threeAnother
4/28/2010 2:20:11 PM
Ike continues to rake. Hard not to get excited about him... but I know that we gotta wait until the league adjusts to him like they have Heyward and see if he can adjust back...
4/28/2010 3:35:26 PM
the difference is heyward isn't surrounded with the kind of offensive force that davis is. it will be mighty hard to pitch around him.
4/28/2010 6:37:35 PM
No game today But the first series against the Phillies this weekend! Love that this is a big rivalry now. God I hate that entire organization.Anyway, I'm surprised at how many people are saying that the Mets are playing over their heads and they can't contend. People forget this team won more games from 2005-2008 than any team in the NL. The core of those teams are all still here and not really aging at all. Plus we added Bay and subtracted what most called a divisive clubhouse guy in Delgado. I see no reason why this team can't at the very least contend for the wild card. And for all the chest thumping out of Philadelphia about a 100 win season and 2006-like romp through the NL they have more pitching questions than any contender in the NL aside from Halladay.I think Philly wins Friday, toss-up on Saturday and we win on Sunday. It just kind of depends Saturday on if Pelfrey can keep his secondary pitches down in the zone. Historically we've done alright in the small sample we have against Halladay too. I believe Wright has like four or five hits in nine ABs.
