4/6/2010 3:17:48 PM

4/6/2010 4:22:31 PM
When is Anna Torv's episode?
4/6/2010 4:39:50 PM
^^ Yea I seem to remember some guy bwning a hot blonde in germany, and that one badass sgt. busted in the door looking for his loot.[Edited on April 6, 2010 at 5:19 PM. Reason : sgt. spear was it?]
4/6/2010 5:19:20 PM
if there was tits it was a very short flash of them, not like in The Pacific
4/6/2010 7:43:21 PM
the are gonna have to get some comfort women in here to make it as good as bob
4/6/2010 9:24:06 PM
how many transition episodes are they going to have, pt 1, pt 3 and pt 4 all transitions.
4/6/2010 10:05:08 PM
The battles are boring. its just japs getting mowed the fuck down
4/6/2010 10:19:21 PM
agreed, the closest thing we had to a cool battle was Mr. Medal of Honor going rambo
4/6/2010 10:23:13 PM
the Peleliu battles seem intense. Iwo Jima and Okinawa ought to be no turkey shoot either.
4/7/2010 5:10:23 PM
4/7/2010 5:27:15 PM
Holy shit. That was an awesome episode.
4/11/2010 10:47:10 PM
Second that. First episode I watched in this series where you could actually get a taste of the intensity of a marine landing. If my history jives right, then next episode is going to be crazy as well.
4/11/2010 10:57:55 PM
i told you guys
4/12/2010 10:57:30 AM
the closer they get to mainland japan = the more intense the fighting will be.
4/12/2010 1:13:55 PM
I don't feel the brotherhood bond in this one. I really felt it in saving private ryan and band of brothers - just not in this series.
4/12/2010 2:09:47 PM
maybe you aren't supposed to.

shocking news - the war in the pacific was different than the war in europei don't think people realize the time frame of what went on in the pacific vs. what happened in europe. Easy Company was in theater during the war for less than 11 months (6 June 44 D-Day till 8 May 45 V-E Day). they they spent the next 6 or so months in occupation before being disbanded in Nov 45.Meanwhile, the battle for Guadalcanal lasted from 7 Aug 42 till 9 Feb 43. That's more than half the total length of our ground war in Europe. The last episode had the start of the Battle of Peleliu. That landing happened on 15 Sept 1944. In other words, from the time they set foot on Guadalcanal until the time they set foot on Peleliu, more than 2 years had passed during the Pacific Campaign. 25 months of war in the pacific vs. 11 months of war in Europe. This isn't the same story. It's not supposed to be Band of Brother's Part 2. It's supposed to be telling the story of the 1st Marines in the Pacific Campaign. If you'd stop looking for long arcing stories that aren't there, you'd appreciate it more for what it is - a good telling of a story that often gets overlooked.[Edited on April 12, 2010 at 2:45 PM. perhaps it's the storytellers fault that they give absolutely no frame of reference or timeline so unless you either know or go look up the history behind it, its hard to know what the fuck is going on.

Sledge's friend's name is Sid. At this point I know, Lechie, Sledge, Basilone, Stella, Chesty Puller, Sledge, Sid, J.P. Morgan (mostly because of his name), and that guy Gibs who was locked up in the hospital (though I only know him from that episode).Personally, I'm usually pretty good with character names while watching an ongoing series. Now, I can't tell you the names of characters in something I watched 3 years ago. Shit, the only name I could have given you from BoB is Garneer (I know that's not how's spelled but it's close to how it's spoken). I know who Nixon and Winters are with you saying the names. And I knew the characters, sans names. Ryan is the only name I could give you from SPR, and for the obvious reason. Although i could name a lot of the actors and the "roles" they played. So, maybe it's me who's the odd brand of retard.

I don't know what more you people want as far as understanding the time frame. They give us dates during the map interludes between each changing of story arc. It wasn't hard to figure out the guys were on Pavuvu for ~6 months before heading to Peleliu. What else do you want, some bad dialog and exposition with a character basically telling you how long it's been? you don't need your hand held through this.

4/15/2010 8:02:20 PM
Watching this, you get the sense that the japanese could not fight at all. Just completely incompetent
4/18/2010 1:05:50 PM
what did you expect? An American series about how awesome they were and how we lost, but ultimately won because of our bombz
4/18/2010 1:06:39 PM
^ ... what?
4/18/2010 1:08:54 PM
^^ ah, it's the old fallacy-laden tactic of1. Assert your opponent took the most extreme position2. Show that this extreme position is ridiculous3. Assume that your own position is correctI was simply wondering whether the japs were really this shitty. Can a grownup answer my question?
4/18/2010 1:13:39 PM
Banzai attacks on entrenched machine gun positions, though honorable to a shintoist, generally result in pretty high casualties.
4/18/2010 1:18:57 PM
HERE WE COME, SHOOT US = BAAAAAAANZAAAIIIIIII
4/18/2010 3:01:38 PM
Can someone get this retard out of this thread?
4/18/2010 4:12:02 PM
so in the doc part they show at the beginning, who is the oldest guy in the glasses. he seems more scarred than the rest
4/18/2010 9:59:31 PM
Probably won't find out until the last episode
4/18/2010 10:16:44 PM

4/18/2010 10:57:32 PM
I watched Part Six last night. Holy shitballs that was crazy.
4/19/2010 8:41:58 AM
I'm no expert on Japanese tactics during WWII, but from what little I know, the Japanese tactics weren't particularly impressive during the initial stages of the war. However, as time progressed, they began to adapt and did a much better job of drawing in the Americans and striking them from heavily fortified and honeycombed positions. You already are starting to see some of that these past two episodes where the marines are beginning to have to deal with these heavily fortified bunkers.
4/19/2010 12:54:32 PM
they also had very intricate cave and tunnel systems interwoven throughout their positions. that had been mentioned very briefly towards the end of the episode last night.

if you guys ever watched the Fox sitcom The War at Home, with Michael Rappaport, Rami Malek played the son's best friend Kenny who everyone knew was gay before he himself did. His character was probably one of the best things about the show.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGZMvcsF63k&feature=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNM7SV8uCjo&feature=related[Edited on April 20, 2010 at 9:21 AM.
