some of the lows: they're tallest guy was 6'4", and they beat us 19-11 on offensive rebounds. 19 turnovers.but from listening, it sounded like we played pretty well. it sounded like it was two walk-ons making all the plays in the last few minutes.[Edited on November 5, 2009 at 9:14 PM. Reason : V haynes just said 6'4", but i thought i heard 6'6" during the game]

Wood will be a beast, Horner needs to be taken out of the starting lineup, Javi is better than Mays, Tracy is who we thought he is
11/5/2009 9:09:44 PM
11/5/2009 9:16:45 PM
horner is bizarro scott wood
11/5/2009 9:29:51 PM
11/5/2009 9:48:46 PM
thought smith and wood looked great. i don't think wood ever hit the rim. horner had an off night shooting but had 0 pump fakes. painter is really athletic but is going to make some freshman mistakes.
11/5/2009 9:52:08 PM
Horner needs to shoot inside the 3 point arc, unless he makes his 1st three point attempt and then maybe he can shoot from 3 again.

I understand you have to curb your expectations, realize who you beat, their level of competition, etcBut come on guys...we're motherfucking NC State...we haven't exactly had greats sports success in recent history...enjoy an exhibition win
11/5/2009 9:55:17 PM
Horner still the worst player on the court. Please heal up, Howell so we can get some production from the PF position.
11/5/2009 10:47:28 PM
i, too, was impressed. i still realize we will be lucky to win 4 ACC games this year, but after a couple years of Sid saying we were going to push the ball, I wasn't really believing him this year. We definitely were playing a bit up-tempo though. Let's just hope that continues against real competition.Wood's going to be huge for us this year. And Painter will in a year or two. kid's quick for a big man.
11/5/2009 11:05:25 PM
11/5/2009 11:12:20 PM
hahah everybody hates the Hornerdude will be our 3rd leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder this year. quote me in March
11/5/2009 11:27:58 PM
whatever happened to that lorenzo kid
11/5/2009 11:36:47 PM
^Shut the fuck up, alias.
11/5/2009 11:40:54 PM
i'm so pissed i couldn't go to the game. had a ticket, but had to give it up at the last minute.why did Jordan only have 6pts? their tallest dude, accoring to PrickPride, was 6'4"is that a bad sign of things to come?
11/5/2009 11:43:17 PM
If you would have been there you would have understood.

smith will be a beast (is a beast) - he was by far the best player on the court last night regardless of his size advantagewood is a great shooter but will have to gain strength or he won't get many shot opportunities against tougher opponents who can "D" him up; for this year, we will have to use some screens to help free him up b/c he has a great stroke and can be a great weapon. don't think he will be able to create his own shot a lot against tougher opposition at this time. still, good to see a great shooter in a Pack uniformjavi played well as the distributor type tonight but we will need him to score more when ACC play rolls around b/c after smith who is going to score?Painter - athletic but raw. will have moments but I think it would be unfair to expect A TON from him this year. With his athleticism he should be able to help with rebounding as this looked like an issue at times last night.everyone else was meh. pretty much what i was expecting. i think horner is a key to this team. we need him to find his stroke and score b/c to me that looks like the biggest problem for this team. not a ton of guys that are going to score a lot. i predict a lot of low scoring games this year. we will have to have low scoring games if we are going to win games.

11/6/2009 8:15:25 AM
We are going to suck this year. Putting all of that aside, I was still very entertained last night and that is all I can ask from any NC State sporting event right now. I will go to as many of these early games as I can simply to be entertained.

Lowe interview on WPH makes it sound like Thomas is third on the depth chart behind Wood and Davis. Kind of surprising to me since I figured him to be a starter on this team.http://wolfpackhoops.blogspot.com/2009/11/coach-lowe-after-st-pauls-college.html
11/6/2009 8:53:24 AM
Why would you figure that?
11/6/2009 8:56:57 AM
what in the hell ever gave you the impression thomas would be a starter?! that's the most absurd thing i've heard on tww in a long time.also vanderberg is going to be a class-a shit talker...[Edited on November 6, 2009 at 9:29 AM. Reason : ]

^^^It very well may have been an absurd thing to figure, but as long as lafta and hooksaw are here, I am pretty confident I am safe from "most absurd" title. At the small-forward position he would have been competing against two freshman one of whom was completely unheralded and what I have seen of JT hasn't been bad. He is obviously very athletic and I though that whatever timidness he had post-injury he may have overcome. Maybe I was wrong. I haven't seen him play yet this year, and clearly Lowe is favoring the two freshman from practices.[Edited on November 6, 2009 at 10:16 AM. Reason : d]

there is no such thing as a "post-injury" Johnny Thomasits sad, but that's pretty much the truth. poor kid.

At 100% Thomas was never going to be quality player at an ACC school. As his knee deteriorates, his legend grows.
11/6/2009 1:27:21 PM
^ I agree about his legend, but you have no way of knowing what kind of player he would have been had he not gotten hurt. None of us do.
11/6/2009 2:14:49 PM
the man could surely elevate, that's the truth
11/6/2009 3:56:10 PM
Girl I know called JT a ho he sure was spittin gameGirl: "What are you doing tonight?"JT:"I'm doing whatever you're doing""I'm baby sitting, what are you doing""I'm baby sitting too""psh""What I can babysit you.""please "laughed my ass off[Edited on November 8, 2009 at 12:13 AM. Reason : D]

if JT was not as dumb as courtney fells, he could have been a good player. athleticism takes you a long way
11/8/2009 12:20:03 AM
pre-injury johnny thomas had the athleticism and explosiveness of david thompson**current day version

Johnny Thomas had offers from Miami (FL) and Virginia Tech fwiw, as well as offers from George Washington and Old Dominion. He committed pretty early to us, and iirc Wake Forest was close to offering before he committed. Clemson, FSU, and Xavier also heavily recruited Johnny.
