I got this for ps3 this past week and am having a great time. I may have to post this in the ps3 thread, but this game is made for 1080p resolution or so it says on the box. But my ps3 always reverts back to 720p unless I manually go to the display settings and uncheck 720. Anyone have a clue why? I don't like doing this each time because then it causes problems displaying games that actually are 720.

I said I was going to boycott this game, but I broke down and finally got it a month or two ago. Also got a server emulator that lets you get around the DRM bullshit (and it unlocks some extra content that you have to pay more money to get), but I heard that it was finally cracked a few weeks ago.Impressions: this game surpasses the first in every single way. It is fairly damn awesome, and it is a crime against humanity that the PC version has that huge DRM stain on its otherwise spotless resume. And the ending was pretty whoa as well, though not at all surprising if you pay attention to the glyph sidequest.

What's the DRM issue, here?Is it one of those that only gives you a certain number of computers that you can register it on? Or something else?

^As I understand it, the game validates by connecting Ubisoft's servers, which is fine except for the fact that it must stay-connected throughout the entirety of play. Any hiccups in your connection and you lose your progress

Just started playing this last week. Pretty good so far. Didn't play the first one so I'm having to get use to the game play.

^^Ah. One of those.Using an internet connection to validate the game is actually one of the better DRM systems when it's done in a way that isn't retarded... but yeah, just straight up kicking you out of the game if you hit connection problems is goddamned stupid.

Any ideas or predictions for the third game?No idea when it will be set, but I'm willing to bet that one of the Assassins that you meet in the present is a traitor/double agent. Probably Lucy. She warns us in the first game that the Templars can manipulate situations and entire lives. You mean to tell me that an organization that powerful doesn't realize that they have a spy in their midst? Or that they don't send guards with at least pistols to stop Desmond's escape?
5/27/2010 9:36:27 AM
^^Yeah. Also your save game files are on the remote server. Not to mention... what happens when UBI decides to stop running their AC2 server because it's no longer profitable (or they want to sell AC3).

damn this game is long...i thought i would have beaten it in the past 48 hours but it still keeps giving!i'm likin' it though...

I've been playing it too. I thought I was almost done but the story opened up and now I have even more to do.
6/23/2010 9:19:52 AM
i've almost beat this game so i'm getting Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands - it's built on the same Anvil Engine as this onein November assassin's creed brotherhood will be out...i'm excited about it...

fuck i thought i was going to get out of my ezio role and get to kick ass in real life...the ending was so abrupt!
6/27/2010 4:55:36 AM
i was playing the final part of the game tonight... fighting the pope right outside the vault with the crazy music playing and this constant lightning outside was INTENSE. but yea I agree about the abrupt ending...now I can't wait for the third one]

How was the ending abrupt? It hardly came out of nowhere... there was a ton of obvious buildup, and even the ending sequence itself lasts for a while. You had the "Gather together all the heroes" moment, then they officially make Ezio an assassin, then the "Gather together all the collectible plot items" moment, then you go to Rome, which has been on the world map for most of the game but this is the first time you've been able to play in it, the gameplay leads you along a linear path which just so happens to include opportunities for every possible awesome way to kill the enemies along that path, and includes a horse sequence and a stealth sequence, then you leap onto the pope from the rafters while his guards and followers look on.Even the final battle was drawn out. You "kill" the guy three different times (leap, combat victory, and hand-to-hand victory, though Ezio spares him at the end)... and the ending cutscene made sure to take a long time to explain or hint at most of the things you might have been wondering about. It's one of the most well-paced video game endings that I can think of. It almost goes too far out of its way to make sure that the player knows exactly what's going on and is ready for/understands the whole thing... Unless of course you people are talking about the Desmond sequence during the credits... eh, I'll agree that I wanted more of that, but it wasn't really the ending of the game so much as it was a teaser for AC3 and an explanation of what happened to Vidic. The game ended when Ezio's story resolved, the present-time bits were just bonus material.
7/10/2010 4:13:37 PM
yeah that's what i mean - after that middle scene in the warehouse disabling the security system as desmond, i expected that after i finished the ezio stuff, i would come back as desmond armed to the teeth with modern weapons and kick some ass...lol

sooowhat's the feeling on brotherhood

I heard that there really aren't too many changes aside from multiplayer. If you liked the AC2 then you'll probably like this one.

The Penny Arcade article for today made me interested in the the Brotherhood multiplayer; it sounds like pretending to be an AI-controlled NPC to fool your target/hunter would be fun.

Brotherhood's multiplayer is seriously something brilliant. It's the best adaptation of a stealth game to a multiplayer that maintains the stealth elements.
