its fucking gay that verizon pushed bing into the bb browser as the only option for searching. not like i cant get around it, but fuck its annoying and nubs as hell
12/22/2009 12:10:03 PM
ah yes, we're back to using "gay" as a pejorative for "i don't like that." can't you just say "i don't like that?"
12/22/2009 12:22:08 PM
Don't be that guy
12/22/2009 12:32:58 PM
well considering that microsoft and verizon are collectively fucking us up our asses via our blackberry browsers, (although some would argue RIM did that already by creating that browser in the first place) and that neither company has an assigned sex identity, i suppose gay isnt accurate but its certainly a close approximation

Maybe I'm a noob, but I still have figured out why and how Bing is a decision engine. Seems just like Google or Yahoo to me. Can someone point out some of its unique features to me?

dayum. That is pretty neat. Good to see we are really bringing technologies together in a useful way (photosynth, 3d maps, silverlight, mapping, astronomy, augmented reality). Can't wait for stores to start mapping their innards, so I can walk through a shop and see what's on the shelves in an up-to-date way (imagine stores just posting their interiors to flickr every morning). Also, Bing now has an 11.3% US market share, and is about to ink the deal for Yahoo to use Bing exclusively for search (currently 16% share) which would catapult bing to over 25% market share in the US.Probably of more interest is overseas, where Yahoo is still a powerhouse search portal.

^ That shit annoys the crap out of me. I try to teach my coworkers what the address bar is for and they still insist on using Yahoo's crappy search engine

^^that is wild, the future is here

Yeah just last week I noticed how much more features were in Bing maps as opposed to google maps. With silverlight turned on Bing maps rocked. There is a feature where you can zoom in on a area and all the resturants, businesses etc. populate in a list to the left. This is really useful for general browsing of a city or town. Also, Bing has the birds eye view that gives a better perspective than the normal top down satellite view.Google maps still has the street view advantage though. They have almost every street mapped so far where Bing doesn't.
