that kind of money will buy a lot of coke, strippers, booze and tattoos.
2/10/2011 6:58:19 PM
you should read his book...
2/10/2011 6:59:50 PM
Your boy would have got paid more if he went to arbitration[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 7:03 PM. Reason : Obviously not confident he can stay off the white pony for two years]
2/10/2011 7:02:51 PM
he has nothing to do with those negotiations.he leaves that up to his agent[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 7:09 PM. Reason : .]
2/10/2011 7:07:55 PM
Never said he did
2/10/2011 7:18:57 PM
so you are saying he gave up some money because he doesn't think he can stay clean?or was he trying to avoid this...http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-0211-angels-jered-weaver-20110211,0,815189.story
2/10/2011 7:33:12 PM
MVPs in their prime years don't lose arbitration hearings. It's not a bad deal, just a strange one. Seems like he could have done much better.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 7:52 PM. Reason : he definitely left money on the table]
2/10/2011 7:49:34 PM
He is not the typical pro athlete that is only concerned about $$$.
2/10/2011 8:12:20 PM
Could you suck this guy's dick a little harder
2/10/2011 8:25:39 PM
how do you know that?do you know him personally?because if not, you don't know a damn thing
2/10/2011 8:25:48 PM
They're boys!!And it's not even the money that makes it a weird deal, it's the length. How many reigning MVPs going into their age 30 season sign a two-year deal? I get that he's a special case -- I mean how many MVPs are still going to be arbitration-eligible at 31 -- but he's setting himself up for a string of short-term, below-value contracts if he doesn't continue performing at an absurdly high level.$12 or $13m per would be fine on a four or five-year deal, just not on a two-year deal.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 8:30 PM. Reason : And if he doesn't care about money, why did you even start a conversation about him getting paidddd]
2/10/2011 8:30:02 PM
Come on Ernie, can't the friend/fan be gaga about the fact that his buddy/hero just pulled in massive bank and the buddy/hero actually not care as much about the bank compared to other players? I can't believe you're being this logically devoid about this.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 8:35 PM. Reason : .]
2/10/2011 8:35:34 PM
^^Because he is getting paid^^^ I read his book and feel like that's enough.[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 8:37 PM. Reason : ^]
2/10/2011 8:36:22 PM
you know the persona they want you to think you knowyou know absolutely nothing about the actual person
2/10/2011 8:39:53 PM
2/10/2011 8:42:43 PM
They only asked for ~13m for arbitration so it's not like he lost a lot of money. The two year contract just takes him to the end of his arbitration so I don't exactly understand how he did anything wrong.
2/10/2011 8:52:39 PM
Years, manHe lost money on the back endI'll see you guys in 2013]
2/10/2011 8:57:26 PM
He wasn't going to get a long-term deal this off-season. That was never even a possibility.
2/10/2011 9:25:10 PM
Dude has left a lot of money on the table in the past because of his prior screw-ups, but I am happy for him and glad he is doing well. This is his unofficial previous salary history:
2007 $380,0002008 $396,8302009 $555,0002010 $3,250,000
2/10/2011 10:27:27 PM

you talkin about the book that was published in 2008?[Edited on February 10, 2011 at 11:41 PM. Reason : or you just trollin?]
2/10/2011 11:41:11 PM
2/11/2011 12:41:35 AM
Won't be much winning going on when he's playing in Pittsburgh for 1 year/$1m[Edited on February 11, 2011 at 12:52 AM. Reason : Again, years, not money]
2/11/2011 12:49:57 AM
fanboyism is hilarious

2/11/2011 6:37:35 AM
there's a lot of funny stuff on this page. here's a recap:
2/11/2011 8:00:35 AM
Pretty sure if it wasn't a business for Josh then he would've taken the long-term extensions he was offered two years ago. This is obviously a business for everyone.
2/11/2011 8:15:51 AM
^^ no problem bud. Also, the comment about knowing him Because I read his book was a joke. That's absurd.
2/11/2011 10:29:17 AM
Also,
2/11/2011 11:30:37 AM
Nolan Ryan is the man. I read his book. I know him
2/11/2011 11:51:04 AM
2/11/2011 11:59:21 AM
Oh, you are saying he is a liar because he slipped up and had a few drinks one night and only told the people it really affected. Not sure I'd say he "covered it up."[Edited on February 11, 2011 at 12:29 PM. Reason : Z]
2/11/2011 12:22:13 PM
I don't blame Josh for not saying anything publicly about it, but let's not call it a few drinks.
2/11/2011 2:03:23 PM
Oh man, this gets even better
2/11/2011 2:04:00 PM
^^ what should we call it?^ they don't really live an extravagant lifestyle. he drives a chevrolet truck and his wife drives an escalade. they rent a house in texas. they own a house (that he bought with his original signing bonus) and condo here (that his wife owned before he went pro). oh wait, i just thought about something. They have a housekeeper. That may put them in to the $3m lifestyle.I know you know a lot because you use the internet but I don't think you know all the reasons of why they made this deal. Its not because he cant stay of the "white pony."[Edited on February 11, 2011 at 2:48 PM. Reason : forgot about the housekeeper.]
2/11/2011 2:45:51 PM
I don't care why he made the deal (I know as much about why he did it as you do: zilch. The difference being that I don't pretend like I know what he's thinking.), I just care that it's an undeniably bad idea. Hamilton, as much as anyone, should know to expect the unexpected, and should have got paid while people are willing to pay him.I know you know a lot because you read his fluff-piece book...
2/11/2011 2:59:42 PM
everyone who has ever said the phrase "it's not about money" was lying
2/11/2011 3:12:51 PM
to be fair, once in a while it's about the pussy.
2/11/2011 3:14:08 PM
Man, even the retards in the ESPN comments agree with mehttp://myespn.go.com/s/conversations/show/story/6108953
2/11/2011 3:22:26 PM
^^^tell that to three players on the miami heat.
2/13/2011 9:21:32 AM
Rickie fucking Weeks just signed a $50m dealHigher base salary than Hamilton next year
