we need rain tires
2/23/2009 2:30:24 PM
i know goodyear made thousands of them a few years back when they were talking about rain races.
2/23/2009 4:06:12 PM
for circuit tracks as well? I thought that was only the road courses.
2/23/2009 4:09:51 PM
then we wouldnt have to worry about the rain. only thing is though, you put those rain tires on and your car would run way different, that would make it awesome if they had to switch on and off during races!
2/23/2009 4:12:42 PM
pesonally after thinking about it, circuit races would be boring. no passing, slow, like a homestead or a cali race. and wtf hendrick. jr was on his way to a fcuking top 10 from from fucking dead last with vickers and you make a shitty motor.
2/23/2009 4:47:01 PM
alright lets keep this momentum coming with 35th in points
2/23/2009 5:19:05 PM
^^Yeah, funny how shop #2 (Martin & Jr.) have the 2 engine issues for Hendrick. Also, did NASCAR send a message to Mike Joy during the race to talk about selling tickets @ Cali? Even with his talk about all these people buying tickets, it was still half empty. If they'd take 1 or both races from there, along with Pocono, I'd be happy.
2/23/2009 6:12:19 PM
2/23/2009 7:10:48 PM
^^Yea, Cali sucks, i dont understand why they have 2 dates. What I would really love to see, though its a pipe dream, is for Bruton to renovate North Wilkesboro, and bring a date back there, but that will never happen
2/23/2009 8:32:20 PM
^ nice dream, but you are correct. Bruton will never allow it.
2/23/2009 8:36:10 PM
last i heard he wanted like $12-13 milthat plus the fact that wilkesboro is in the middle of no where and no one will ever buy the place
2/23/2009 8:44:02 PM
the rock is the same way
2/23/2009 9:06:09 PM
^ at least the Rock was purchased and has some scheduled races.
2/23/2009 9:24:36 PM
true but they need the subway 400 or the southern 400 back there again.
2/23/2009 9:29:03 PM
north wilkesboro also doesn't have enough stands
2/23/2009 10:05:48 PM
or hotelsor a way to get out of that shithole in under 3 hrs
2/23/2009 10:12:26 PM
but it had some awesome racingbuild it and they will come**unless the economy is in the shitter[Edited on February 23, 2009 at 11:19 PM. Reason : dlkj;]
2/23/2009 11:19:25 PM
^^ 421 is 4 lane freeway now though with connections to i-77 and i-40, so its not like youre stuck on the backroads. Plus, being in the middle of nowhere wasnt an issue when it was open, so why would it be now. Its not like Darlington isint kind of isolated, or hell, Martinsville, that place is in the middle of nowhere.
2/24/2009 1:16:07 PM
modified series car just posted a new record lap time at BRISTOL, beat ryan newmans 2003 lap mph by 4 mph
2/25/2009 5:21:03 PM
^^ i'd like to see it happenbut those are the reasons it will never EVER happen
2/25/2009 5:27:32 PM
anyone seen the Tony Stewart old spice commercial yet....funny
2/25/2009 10:43:30 PM
yeah i laughed my ass off during daytona when i saw it

Racing at N. Wilkesboro? From http://jayski.com:
2/27/2009 8:35:13 AM
sounds like it will suck
2/27/2009 10:21:28 AM
i want at least a truck series race
2/28/2009 7:46:04 PM
jr did good and im glad busch knocked himself out early
2/28/2009 8:25:33 PM
How is traffic getting in and out of Martinsville?
3/1/2009 4:12:29 PM
If you park in the right place its not too bad. If you are going up 220N from Greensboro, you want to park on the left side of the road (Across the street from the racetrack). The car dealership across the street is the best place. I think it is a Nissan Dealership. They charge you $20 bones or so. Its a long way from the track, but if you want to get in and out, its the heat sauce. After the race, you can turn right and dig on 220S back toward greensboro. What you want to avoid is parking on the same side of the road as the racetrack. If you do that, they shoot you back behind the race track down a back road and out onto 58. Once you get on 58, you have to go passed 220, get off, and go back the other way on 58 to get back on 220.

Does anyone know how long engines typically last in the sprint cub cars? Can they make it half a year on one, a whole year, 5 races? I realize there are anomolies, but I'm curious how long they last on average.
3/1/2009 5:53:07 PM
3/1/2009 7:00:58 PM
they definitely rebuild after every race. The start and park guys in nationwide/trucks may get half a season out of a motor, but even with the tapered spacer those two series are using the most you can really expect is 2 races from an engine before it's too worn and down on power. Now, it may be that you can run 2-3 short track races where they are only running 250-300 miles in a weekend, with a lot of half or no throttle, but they will still throw it on the dyno after the weekend, rebuild the heads (they replace the springs all of the damn time anyway), so they may as well tear it down and rebuild it.
3/1/2009 10:39:20 PM
an engine rebuild after every race? loltry a new engine after every race. i know for a fact that JGR sends every single engine part off for analysis after a race. a lot of other teams do similar stuff.
3/1/2009 11:50:58 PM
3/2/2009 10:50:31 AM
god damn that's expensive. 25k a pop just for the engine right? doesn't include any work done on it.

In an unprecedented move NASCAR has announced today the in order to keep high TV ratings and interest in the sport they are going to invert the finishing order of the Las Vegas race held yesterday. 3/2/2009 3:15:25 PM
anybody else like the new pit stop rules for the truck series? you cant take fuel and tires on the same stop. i think that anything that increases the amount of strategy required to win a race is a good thing, wouldnt mind seeing this rule in cup.
3/3/2009 9:37:47 AM
that double dipping shit is gay as fuck. because you HAVE to pit both times,
3/3/2009 9:54:58 AM
^ you dont have to pit for tires. hell you would be a dumbass to take tires under green and go down a lap
3/3/2009 10:07:05 AM
i thought it was mandatory to come down pit road under the new rules. i have not read them, but its sounds dumb after watching dayton and cali. i hope Ricky Carmichael. does very well this year.FUCK KYLE BUSCH. he could have cared less about racing at his home track. i hope he wins a champion ship soon so he goes over seas and races F1.
