First off it is just because he's a democrat, you'd be doing the same for any democrat. Secondly, for this to have had any effect, pretty much every felon would have had to have voted for him.

A person arrested for possessing a large amount of marijuana shouldn't have their fundamental rights stripped away from them.

^ Under current law, I guess it depends on how large the amount. But I'm certainly for decriminalizing marijuana--and most definitely for individuals possessing personal-use amounts.
