looks like shit.
5/3/2009 4:56:35 PM
it's definitely not a design Apple would do, but it does have some elements that Apple should/will incorporate into the next iPhones - thinner, smaller "chin" and "forehead", front-facing camera
5/3/2009 5:38:13 PM
ha, "battery cover" what a shitty fake
5/3/2009 5:59:42 PM
The features are the main thing. It looks interesting although unlike the other iPhones. [Edited on May 3, 2009 at 6:09 PM. Reason : Sung]

5/4/2009 1:05:07 AM
A bluetooth buttplug that vibrates when you get a message.

I'm in need of a new router and thinking about purchasing an Airport Extreme (http://raleigh.craigslist.org/sys/1198269466.html)Are the Airports a good deal or are there better routers that are recommended? It's just for home networking and mostly for my computer and a printer.
6/1/2009 10:44:58 AM
I use an Airport Extreme and I like it a lot, but "a good deal"? ehh..... not sure. They're pretty damned expensive for what they do. Depends what you want to do with it. If you don't plan on using it as a NAS or for a network Time Machine, then you might not need it.Have you checked out the Airport Express? You can do printer sharing (and music streaming) with it.oh, didn't see it for $99 on craigslist. That's not bad - better than the Apple price. But the Express is still cheaper. 6/1/2009 10:49:07 AM
yeah but why not just get a WRT54G for half that[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 11:12 AM. Reason : you can get offbrand routers for $30 even. i've never seen the benefit of apple's networking stuff]
6/1/2009 11:10:39 AM
If you don't need 802.11n and Gig Ethernet, (and the other minor features), it's probably not worth it.If you compare it to a similar dual radio 802.11n/GigE linksys router, it's really not that much more.oh and the airport extreme UI sucks balls.[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 12:38 PM. Reason : sdaf]
6/1/2009 12:37:33 PM
it's better than any of the web-interfaces i've seen for other routers
6/1/2009 1:48:16 PM
In that case - anyone have a router recommendation?
6/1/2009 2:29:08 PM
well, the Linksys WRT54G is pretty much the go-to router for several years now, and it should do fine for you. At this point, i'm not sure there is much of a difference between all the mainstream routers, especially if you don't want/need 802.11n. although, if you want printer easy printer sharing, then I don't know what Linksys, D-link or Belkin router to get. In that case, I'd go with the Craigslist Airport Extreme, or find an Airport Express. I guess Bobby may not like the Airport's UI, but then again, he is a network geek who works at Cisco. The Airport UI is more than adequate for "normal people's" needs, and I contend is still better than any web-interface I've seen.

BUFFALO WHR-HP-G54 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-Ghttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833162134Sadly, it's not wireless-N, and it's not gigabit ... but it's the best damn router money can buy right now, well, after you put Tomato or DD-WRT on it. And you should do that. I've owned two (different locations) for the past 2+ years and I've never had to reset it except to update the firmware. Absolutely solid and fast, even with 3+ people actively using it.
6/1/2009 3:28:36 PM
^just from reading your post how can a router be 'the best damn router money can buy right now' if it's lacking features?
6/1/2009 3:38:26 PM
not everybody needs wireless n or gigabit.my MBP doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, but just because it's lacking that feature, doesn't mean it's not a "good value" for the money[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 3:47 PM. Reason : or the best notebook money can buy, to borrow a phrase]
6/1/2009 3:46:09 PM
It's a bit nitpicky, but the phrase "the best X that money can buy" means that you could not buy a better X with any amount of money -- which in this case obviously isn't true. What you guys mean to say is that it's the best value in routers, which is more a money to performance type comparison.More on topic though, I have a Buffalo router and aside from one port being dead, it's worked like a champ for 2+ years.[Edited on June 1, 2009 at 4:19 PM. That $99 AEBS on craigslist isn't the new dual band one, btw. Which means you'll need to limit wireless connections to devices that only support the n draft, or lose that functionality altogether.

A 13 inch macbook pro for $1200? Hmm...I wasn't planning on a new laptop, but that's tempting.
6/8/2009 1:18:01 PM
i think a lot of these laptop updates were unexpected. i was like holy shit. 13" mbp, 15" macbook. lower prices.
6/8/2009 1:22:50 PM
Yeah, I was just looking for the new iPhone and maybe Snow Leopard info, but this is kinda crazy.http://www.ustream.tv/channel/apple-wwdc-09 btw.
6/8/2009 1:24:55 PM
Holy Fuck. SL is $29!
6/8/2009 1:47:24 PM
paying money for service packs owns. thanks apple.
6/8/2009 1:50:51 PM
You're an idiot if you think SL is just a service pack.
6/8/2009 1:52:21 PM
SL is more than a service pack. its equivalent to a Vista->Win7 upgrade except youre getting backend upgrades instead of UI upgrades.
6/8/2009 1:53:00 PM
did they even change anything?
6/8/2009 1:53:13 PM

hahaha...AT&T must have just found out about MMS today. epic failSWEET you can rent and download movies on your phone directly! Don't need itunes to do this anymore. That will really come in handy when traveling.wow...no mention of AT&T for tethering support? You would think the first carrier to have the iPhone would at least step up their game. I really hope this rumored verizon deal works out.[Edited on June 8, 2009 at 2:03 PM. Reason : .]

^^exchange support in Mail, iCal, Addres book, Notes, To do lists.New Quicktime.some other shit, i dunno read the news. mostly its the whole new 64bit kernel, grand central, and mostly all new 64bit Cocoa apps
6/8/2009 2:03:23 PM
shaggy is grasping at straws. what else is new.
6/8/2009 2:05:02 PM
exchange support amazing. let me fire up my pc from 15 years ago so i can feel what its like to just get that feature. If you're seriously arguing that minor upgrades to stuff like mail, notes, and whatever else is HUEG and worth money i'd have to say its you grasping at straws.
6/8/2009 2:06:40 PM
lol...come on guys. lets feed the troll.
