all the rage on PCstill a good console game no doubt, but won't be as popular there I don't think
12/3/2008 12:47:42 PM
so add it to gamefly list of games to play one day
12/3/2008 1:17:11 PM

12/5/2008 3:34:57 AM
^me, that was a shitty way to go last night, I was tryin to get to you and the other guy didn't even realize what was happening for some reason but with the rush and tank I was gettin mobbed toosame thing happened to me when I was going for akimbo assassin one time, I made it all the way to the last tank in the No Mercy finale and the bitch hit me clear off the side of the building, dead
12/5/2008 9:51:34 AM
so theres likers and haters, whats the final verdict....mine as well wait for price drop?
12/5/2008 11:28:49 AM
I think its the shit, but i only play the PC version (console for multiplayer FPS games = blech) versus mode with shacknews.com servers. We've got 3 co-op and 3 vs. servers and they're pretty popular. I've played the game nearly 25+ hours a week. Love it.
12/5/2008 1:09:54 PM
if you play co-op on a local server (instead of dedicated), only the server host gets achievements how the fuck can they not test that and have it fixed on release?
12/5/2008 3:48:23 PM
so that's what the deal was last night, wow that is totally retardedgood thing I was hosting
12/5/2008 5:09:44 PM
hahahaha

http://www.destructoid.com/hey-dickheads-left-4-dead-is-not-halo-113840.phtmlfunny read. not sure what others experience. on the PC the worst i've seen so far is people quitting after a round when they either fail to stop the survivors as infected or get wiped as a survivor
12/9/2008 8:49:36 PM
ill play through the whole thing on 360 with someone? just got this on the cheap
12/9/2008 9:05:13 PM
Just got it on GameFleaI'm Big Business and i approved this message.
12/9/2008 9:21:53 PM
^^^I've had a lot of good times on pc, but you get little faggots like that on pc too, though not in the numbers I would imagine on xbox live due to the pc demographic being a bit older and more mature playerswhat was completely homo today, I was playing Versus in the No Mercy finale as infected and the whole survivor team got under the helicopter pad ramp the whole time and basically nothing can get to them there......all the zombies are funneled through one tiny area and the tank can do minimal damage before it gets wastedthat's gonna be fixed soon but that level of un-competitive faggotry just pisses me off, it's not fun at all for either teamI think rage quits are hilarious, except when it's a guy hosting the server locally and everyone loses all their progress[Edited on December 9, 2008 at 9:26 PM. BTTTFor those of you asking how to beat a tank... all you have to do is set them on fire and run, they will eventually burn to death.
12/12/2008 4:24:01 PM
Got the game a couple of days ago and played it on and off with my roommates. So far, we've cleared the first three movies, and the second movie is the hardest by fucking FAR. The last stage with the house on the water waiting for the boat to come by is insane, and the only time we beat it was by me jumping over my last remaining teammate's fallen body to get onto the boat.We play on advanced (no jerking off to your omfg 3><p3R7 plz), what do you do to complete it? So far we've taken out the first couple of rushes (between 2-4) with pipe bombs, and then had a guy posted on the minigun while the other real player is downstairs, using the bathroom to securely heal when able to. From then on we pray that the tanks are generous in dying smoothly and toss lots of molotovs. For the most part we stay around the house, and when the boat comes we just sprint for the docks. At that point, one or both of the CPU players are dead anyway.Do you rush out to the pier when they say its 2 minutes or less remaining?

every finale has the same pacestart the sequencefirst set of hordestank spawnsecond set of hordestank spawnrescue sequence starts3rd mob and tank spawn ~30 seconds before you can load into the vehiclesgiven that i am always playing with 3 or 4 people on teamspeak, we each take sectors to cover. someone mans the minigun, then the other 3 watch various approaches. play through them a few times and you'll know where they are. for example, on blood harvest (the one with the boat rescue), one guy will be on the minigun, another will be right behind him watching the roof that's on the front of the house (zombies can jump there), then the other two guys will be on the back side - one watching the door to the 2nd floor/stairs and the other watching the side approach. this way all approaches are covered to provide maximum protection and there are people nearby in case someone gets smoked or pouncedwe try to not heal until the lull after the 1st tank's death. we use pills to recover speed if you're red/yellow during the mob sequence.it's also a good habit to clear the area of normal infected and search for goodies like propane tanks, gas cans, molotovs, etc. we'll put the gas tanks in areas that can take care of mob rushes. we always save a molotov or pipe bomb if we can to cover our retreat to the rescue vehicleas soon as that second tank goes down, make a break for the rescue area to wait for the vehicle (in this case the pier). you should be in position to board before the 3rd mob spawns in and only need to hold them off for a few seconds before you can escape. if you have a team member incapacitated, leave them unless you are right next to them when the 2nd tank dies. if you try and revive them, you'll get screwed as wellthat was a lot of words, but i can't sleep[Edited on December 13, 2008 at 5:04 AM. ^^ For the boat on the waterfront, here's my team's strategy that has worked:Stay on the top floor, inside, 99% of the time. It's useless to get to the minigun, because you expose yourself to being ganged up on by infected, and you can also be snagged by the Smoker.Have everyone stay on the top floor inside with the doors closed, and have each person man a corner. Have a guy with a shotgun at the top of the stairs (this is what I do). All that person does is wait for the infected to channel up the stairs, and in a full clip he can take out at least 30 of them. Let everyone else watch each window/door on the top floor as they slowly pour in. Make sure to do quick runs once or twice to refill on ammo from the bottom floor. Then, once the tank comes, everyone heads outside to kill the tank. As soon as the tank is dead, head back in to the top floor. Rinse and repeat. And no, don't rush out until they say the boat is coming (as in, literally arriving).[Edited on December 13, 2008 at 2:25 PM. Reason : ]

Sweet, we'll give these a shot. It's hard playing with the computer suvivors since they've been leaving people alone on the turret or in other parts of the house, so the loner gets incapacitated by a smoker or hunter and I can't get there fast enough before they're pretty much dead.
12/13/2008 3:03:18 PM
yeah for the final rushes, always stick together and stay inside, choose locations that funnel the rushes through a corridor if possible (i.e. in No Mercy two at the top and two at the bottom of the stairwell in the building) and always run out into the open area for the tanksas soon as the second tank goes down, get your ass to the pickup area and just hold them offit's very formulaic really, the only hard part is when you get special infected along with the tanks, boomers are the worstbut for the rushes stay together inside because smokers will fuck everything up if one teammate gets pulled out into the middle of a rush
12/13/2008 7:42:38 PM
Second level of No Mercy.Jumped down the hole. Game over.Entire team got jumped. Never seen it happen. 3 hunters 1 smoker. Everyone got pinned.
12/13/2008 8:17:17 PM
I was playing versus and we got a tank, but the enemy team didn't get a tank. It was lame.
12/13/2008 9:16:29 PM
it happens. a lot of times, you'll see it even out later in the campaignbut listening to developer commentary tracks, it seems that the games some sort of code to determine the pressure the survivors are feeling and spawns in shit accordingly
12/14/2008 2:07:20 AM
Saw a propane tank used against a tank for the first time. Really the first time I have ever seen a propane tank used effectively ever.Hit the tank on the side and he went stumbling into the side of the house at the end of the last level. Easy to take down afer that. Was pretty awesome. Our team was completely dominant finished every stage of the level, killed the other team every stage of that level. Final score was like5600 to 700Best Game Ever[Edited on December 18, 2008 at 10:11 PM. Reason : fsdf]

Friend and I started offline co-op for the last level, that shit is hard as hell . Its my favorite one so far though, creepy as shit when you can't see the zombies that are coming out of the woods and noming you apart.
12/18/2008 10:16:27 PM
^^second to last level of No Mercy, after you go up the elevator, you can use a propane tank and force the tank to stumble off the edge of the building, falls to his deathbeautiful

Just got this tonight and played some versus. Very very fun stuff, I love playing infected, not quite used to all the strategy yet though.

Just started playing this on the 360 the other day and I absolutely love it. After having used all of the weapons, I have to admit that I find the M14 (hunting rifle) to be superior to the M4 (auto shotgun). The magnum force is incredible in choke points (especially doorway rushes) and I find that I can handle close combat situations better with it since I prefer the magazine reload. I also have much greater success in freeing incapacitated teammates with it since I don't spray friendly fire into them. (I'm using mouse and keyboard, which helps.) Only place where it's lacking is in tank combat... but my friends almost always carry M4's so it works out pretty well.
12/29/2008 4:06:31 PM
You can't get hit with FF while being incapped by a hunter or smoker.Besides, use your alternate fire instead.

I was bored and played this online yesterday, and it sucked hardcore. First did Versus, and the survivors were very well organized so we couldn't get anything going. Unfortunately they were also playing to the point of camping and exploiting some parts of the game, like breaking down alternate walls, and staying upstairs in regions when the tank was spawning so the tank couldn't get up there. Eventually left when they were camping too much.Went to campaign online and found a great organized group that played through the final part of dead air.Found a campaign for Blood Harvest that had a PKer. Eventually killed him and I tried to start playing, but the other two survivors only stayed in the safe house and wouldn't go out to play. Left that one.Found a campaign for Dead Air at the van part, and the survivors weren't playing the campaign at all. They were just posted up and shooting zombies. Left that one when I died.Found a campaign for Blood Harvest. One of the people was playing oddly, and I didn't know how to play this part of the campaign so I followed him out into the boonies. He then jumped at a fence a couple times and left . Finally completed the campaign with another person, but died before I could get to the rescue vehicle .Online play gets a 2/10 for the XBox. Sigh.

Well, that's because Xbox Live players are all 11 year old faggots.

Online PC play is awesome. I finished 2 campaigns last night with some friends and then played some versus. Never experienced any of the problems ^^ is talking about on PC.

Death Toll: 48% accuracy, 833 normal infected kills (#1), 13 Boomer kills (#1), 8 Hunter kills (#1), 12 Smoker kills (#1). Came in second for most damage done to the Tank. I utterly love the M14.

I love this game but they need to add more modes for versus play asap. A single map in versus mode may only give me 4-5 good attempts to attack survivors and thus it can take a lot longer to become skilled at playing infected. I will sometimes sabotage my turn playing survivor just so I can get back to playing infected. I am hoping they add something like the horde mode from Gears 2 or the zombie mode from World at War. Give the survivors a point to defend from and increase the respawn rates of the infected as each wave passes.I am hoping for more infected types in the future too. Something that could climb on any surface/ceiling would be fun.
1/6/2009 12:23:13 PM
what's great about it is that they can just keep adding levels (movies) new zombies, game modes and everything
