Actually, it's pretty hard to hear the music from the other floors. I would definitely recommend a place like this to take your parents to.

1) Can you see up skirts from below the dance floor?2) This is a place I'd like to try at least once, jsut because I'm on the fence about it, but I'll never be able to convince my bf to go.3) 'sliders' is not a catch-all to describe mini hamburgers. Sliders are grease sponges, with something resembling beef as a core, from White Castle or Krystal (and the 2nd of those two is up for debate) only. Being an effective hangover or munchies cure is an essential part of what a slider is [Edited on August 10, 2008 at 12:49 PM. Reason : dlkfj]
8/10/2008 12:48:08 PM
1. Not really. Maybe if you look long enough, but the lighting mostly prevents it.2. Ok.3. Don't be a bitch
8/10/2008 12:50:08 PM
1) damn 2) --3) This would be a non-issue if we had a damn white castle or krystal around here, so these poor raleighites had some idea of the awesomeness of a 'real' slider
8/10/2008 12:51:26 PM
The sliders we have at Solas will put those other things to shame. They are so dank. I could eat like 20 of them myself.
8/10/2008 12:52:47 PM
I never said they weren't tasty, dammit. I'm just saying: they aren't sliders.Kind of like champagne: if it's not from white castle or krystal, it's not a slider.[Edited on August 10, 2008 at 12:55 PM. Reason : ljkfd]
8/10/2008 12:53:52 PM
ok.sorry, i just have to defend Solas because i'm truly excited to be working at a place like this.
8/10/2008 12:54:53 PM
No, I understand. And if I went, I'd seriously consider getting those. As it stands, I had to stop looking at the menu because I'm already hungry
8/10/2008 12:55:37 PM
white castle or krystal are examples of sliders, but they clearly aren't the ONLY type of slider. this isn't like bourbon where there's an act of congress to back up it's exclusivity
8/10/2008 1:34:39 PM
The sliders are fucking great.
8/10/2008 1:42:23 PM
One last question from me I suppose. Some of us are trying to go here when it's officially open but we're a mix of 23 to 25 year olds. Is that rumored age restriction (must be 25) to be on the top floor true?
8/10/2008 1:46:50 PM
didn't quietly get fired from the hib. from posting some shit about the owner on here - i'd be careful posting after a bad night
8/10/2008 1:56:01 PM
I'm really looking forward to going to this place.. Looks awesome and like something Raleigh really needed
8/10/2008 1:58:34 PM
8/10/2008 1:59:55 PM
8/10/2008 2:05:04 PM
The three levels are completely different atmosphere's. There's only one dance floor on the 2nd floor and you really can't hear the music from the other side of the room. 1st room is a restaurant with the 2nd and 3rd being hybrid bar/restaurant/lounge area.
8/10/2008 6:10:46 PM
i have a feeling there are going to be tons of upskirt pics online with a glass dancefloor.
8/10/2008 6:18:26 PM
I'll be taking some upskirt shots there on Monday to test this idea out... For security purposes only. Have to protect Raleigh from snukes...
8/10/2008 6:36:58 PM
i'd actually let folks know if that is a hazard...i would think management would wanna know too.i emailed the contact email on the site about a party of 12 in december to see what options there are.
8/10/2008 7:40:26 PM
The glass is slightly frosted, and the lighting really makes it almost impossible to see through it well enough for it to be a problem.
8/11/2008 1:29:21 AM
^thats why i have imagination. its really just the principle. much like in pictures of girls where they are wearing short skirts and their skin on their thigh folds a funny way and you convince yourself that they're not wearing underwear and you're seeing a huge vag.yeah, like that.
8/11/2008 10:01:32 AM
I think I'm gonna head back out there tonight. Hopefully the bouncers remember me and let me in fo free (if there is even going to be cover)
8/11/2008 10:22:01 AM
Niall was on the morning show with Salt and me this morning and was def. stressing the dress code. Can't wait to go though. He was raving about the menu and it sounds amazing.
8/11/2008 10:37:20 AM
and what is the dress code?i don't wear dresses so if i can't wear jeans and heels then i'll never get in
8/11/2008 10:39:09 AM
and what is the dress code?i don't wear pants so if i can't wear assless chaps and heels then i'll never get in ]
8/11/2008 10:39:58 AM
Dress codes suck, although I guess it will keep people who are dressed like me out. Well, and it might keep people who are dressed like thugs out (Non-suit-wearing thugs of course).
8/11/2008 10:40:02 AM
I was listening to that this morning!I met Mike at Bud Light Live on Saturday, he's your GM right?
8/11/2008 10:41:50 AM
Is a dress code really that big of a deal? Throw on something other than jeans, a nice button up, nice shoes, and gooo. easy. it's not like you have to wear a suit.
8/11/2008 10:56:21 AM
yeah, that's kinda how I took it. I don't think there is a "dress code" per se, it's more that they want customers to dress to impress. I really don't any problems with this plan as it will keep the riff-raff out.
8/11/2008 11:04:01 AM
again, since it hasn't really been answered, definitively
8/11/2008 11:05:46 AM
well i guess i still won't be going then
8/11/2008 11:05:52 AM
Collared shirt, nice pants, nice shoes. (no tshirts, shorts, sandals, etc.) (that is for guys at least.) What it would be for girls is beyond me. It really isn't anything that out of the ordinary for a nice restaurant.I feel pretty positive in saying that the clothing requirements have anything to do with keeping any specific group of people out. To suggest that seems really irresponsible.
8/11/2008 11:16:55 AM
i beg to differan owner implements dress codes specifically to keep certain groups of people from frequenting his establishment
8/11/2008 11:34:53 AM
I dont think they're trying to keep people out. They spend a lot of money and energy to creaty a classy, upscale atmosphere, and dont want it ruined by having a bunch of people dressed like they just walked off the beach.
8/11/2008 11:36:10 AM
people who like to dress well like to spend moneyI'm sure there are people in Raleigh who love to spend money and also love to dress like a bum...but why risk it (from the viewpoint of the owner)
8/11/2008 11:38:40 AM
meh nvm[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 11:39 AM. Reason : asfd]
8/11/2008 11:38:51 AM
Its not keeping anyone out, unless there are people who refuse to dress up. I dont dress that way normally, but i certainly would if i wanted to go to there. I dont see the big deal.
8/11/2008 11:40:23 AM
Because it's summer and you're walking into what is, ideally, a crowded environment?I mean, if I ran a business I'd rather see guys in sandals and shorts than guys in dress shirts soaked in sweat. Also, I didn't understand why when walking by their Saturday night, there was a line but the second floor looked empty from the streets. Oh, and then the valet said something about a $20 cover and that pretty much killed any interest in going in.[Edited on August 11, 2008 at 12:30 PM. Reason : .]
8/11/2008 12:29:10 PM
8/11/2008 12:33:09 PM
the rumors of this cover, are they true?$20.00 seems a bit much for a cover.
8/11/2008 12:36:47 PM
Is there a no smoking indoors policy? I didn't notice anyone smoking on Friday. If so, this is even more of a reason to go.
8/11/2008 1:04:36 PM
Browsed through most of the thread & didn't see anything on drink prices. Menu has specialty cocktails / martinis at around $7-9. Any word on average drink prices? I'd speculate at around $4-5 / beer and $6 for run of the mill liquor drinks...is this anywhere on track?
8/11/2008 1:37:37 PM
Whoa.... $20 cover... that'll kill my interests.
8/11/2008 1:38:50 PM
i saw the link the the menu on page 3 and sounds awsomeI mean champagne strawberry shortcake..... yum. I can't wait to try it
8/11/2008 2:29:12 PM
8/11/2008 2:33:37 PM
dress code and drink prices aren't going to be that much different than other bars on glenwood. Most places already have no shorts or t-shirt policies.
8/11/2008 2:38:14 PM
8/11/2008 2:45:27 PM
8/11/2008 2:58:26 PM
i go to Hibernian strictly because there I have the option of whether or not to dress like a bum
8/11/2008 3:00:41 PM
set em up
