i've got a round 2 interview with a company today and i'm pretty sure they will offer me the job, but i'm not sure if i want it. it's a good salary, a small but stable company but they use relatively ancient technology. they built a framework before .net came out and b/c they put so much into it, they've continued to use it. and i guess it works cus they're making lots of money and getting new clients so i can't blame them for sticking with it. but it sounds boring as hell. basically doing lots of SQL and XSLT with some html and javascript thrown in. i should find out more about the technology itself this afternooni also had an interview with a different company this morning. again a small but growing company but they are using WPF which I have more experience in and really like working with. the interview went very well and i think they're interested, but they haven't come nearly as close to making me an offer as company A.if company A offers me a job today and company B offers me a job next week, i'd feel like a douche if i already accepted the A but end up bailing on them to take the B job. if A offers me the job today, what's the best way to say "give me a few days to see if another company i like more offers me a job"
5/6/2009 1:50:34 PM
"I need some time to evaluate my options. By what date do you require me to commit to this job?"Done. As an aside, I went from working at a company using Microsoft CRM for case management to a company that uses a homebrew AS/400 system. I never knew I could hit F18 on my keyboard.
5/6/2009 2:00:56 PM

6/3/2009 10:02:30 AM

6/3/2009 10:21:17 AM
^^^ do you seriously want an entirely separate thread just for software jobs in tech talk along with a thread containing your definition of "tech jobs" ?
