Since no one reads the last post, is this shit going to be based on taxable income, gross, etc. Whether or not my 401k contribution gets counted would put me over the edge

Oh no rich boy might not get free money

^^^LOL, this isn’t UBI, this is an economic stimulus. That link is so stupid. I primarily support things that end up getting tied to unemployment, not anything universal.[Edited on March 20, 2020 at 10:57 PM. Reason : .]

This “stimulus” is so dumb. And a month from now what? People short on money, and then what? 1000 buys us another month. For some. If that.

$1000 would last me 4 months at least.

can't wait to not get shit since i'm an independent contractor
3/21/2020 2:20:12 AM
^^damn wtf do you live? $1000 would last me a rent check

Rural South Carolina. Mortgage paid off. Now I'm not spending much on gasoline or daily lunch either. I only have to pay power bill, water bill (minimum), and internet bill. Insurance and property taxes are low and paid annually in the fall.

Looks like it's gonna be based on 2018 tax filings. Not sure how it'll work if you've gotten married since then, or had a kid since then, or whatever.

I'm wondering how it will be delivered and whether there is any opportunity to update information. If they try to use the routing and account numbers from my 2018 return for direct deposit, those are no longer valid.

^^It'll factor in next year when you file your 2020 taxes

Thanks. They've since clarified that they will use your 2019 banking info and AGI if you've already filed in 2019, which I have. So, should be good. However, I think this drops my stimulus amount because of a higher AGI in 2019 due to a one-time payment. Oh well. One problem solved, and another minor inconvenience created.

When does the 2nd check come?
3/29/2020 10:31:39 PM
^^I think I posted that prior to it coming out that ICs would be covered under this bill. But yeah, I paid taxes last year and hopefully will be able to get something from this.

Given that this rebate will likely be collected from this year's tax returns, is there any benefit to cashing the check, if still employed?I suppose that it would be beneficial to have the extra money in a savings account, in the event that I become unemployed before the economy returns to normal.

Cash today is always better than cash tomorrow
3/30/2020 10:38:55 AM
Yea I'm planning to put it in my savings at least for now. Alternately I might use it to pay off a couple things and cut some of my required monthly expenses back just in case.

Post here when you get a stimulus rebate check egg.
