I have no idea if they passed it or not, it was in the news right before Christmas. Also for organic food, there is always the Deep Roots Market, it's on Spring Garden right before the Wendover exit. They are your best bet for organic produce. http://www.deeprootsmarket.com/Greensboro has gotten better over the years; food, bars, and other forms of entertainment have improved in the last 4 or 5 years. I don't think it could have gotten worse, but with Greensboro you never know.
2/11/2009 10:20:39 AM
Yeah, Greensboro was pretty shitty when I was in High School and when I came home for the summer after my Freshman year at NCSU. But you are correct, over the past 4-5 years it has gotten way better. The whole revitalization of downtown has really helped.

Does anybody rent in the Kernersville area? My fiance works in downtown WS and I work in Greensboro so we need to find a place to live in the middle. Cheaper the better so we can save money for a house. Thanks!
2/13/2009 10:02:14 AM
are you looking for an apartment, townhouse, or house?
2/13/2009 11:16:42 AM
Still all up in Davidson County here.
2/13/2009 12:50:31 PM
what up son.
2/13/2009 2:16:34 PM
I dont have a preference to what type of houseing, just cheap!
2/13/2009 3:28:28 PM
I know when I was looking to buy a house in K'Ville the prices were pretty comparable to those in Greensboro. So I would assume that the rentals are the same as well.
2/13/2009 3:49:28 PM
did you find a place yet?As an option you could find a place close to the airport. Since that provides you easy access to 40 and past most of the Greensboro traffic the drive to W-S wouldn't be too bad. http://www.kernersvillenc.com/shell.php?page=housingThat might help you out. I had a friend live in Madison Place that said they weren't bad.
2/18/2009 4:20:02 PM
Good place to watch the game? I was thinking Looneys but the UNC fans will probably be there in droves.
2/18/2009 4:43:44 PM
Speakeasy Tavern will be mostly NCSU fans. That is where we all go to watch the games usually. I know all my NCSU boys will be there. I would be there as well, but I am in Mebane tonight.[Edited on February 18, 2009 at 6:21 PM. Reason : a]

Looney's is pretty good. There's two sections, front and back. Should be able to get away form the UNC fansYou can also try:Natty Greene's - good place downtown thoughSpring Garden Pizzeria - great food and beer, close to UNCGJ Butler's (New Garden Rd) - Always a crowd and I've seen a few State fans thereBuffalo's (Battleground Ave) - good wingsM'Coul's - can't rememberStumble Stilskins - always a bunch of Wake fans there. Legends (Swing Rd) - Never been, drove by it once thoughThere's also a bar off Guilford College and I-40, down that little side street by the gas station beside the strip club. I can not remember the name of it though.

I already live in Mission Stadler Place which is right near the airport, but rent keeps going up and once we get married we wanted to start "our new life" in a new place. My lease runs up the end of April so right now we are trying to figure out if I should do month to month till the end of August when we get married or try to find someplace before then. Thanks for the link... didnt even cross my mind to look at Kvilles website.
2/19/2009 9:05:57 AM
Month-to-month will be rediculously expensive. If at all possible, I would recommend getting a place together. Even if you only do a 6 month lease to get you through the wedding, it will be cheaper in the long run.

For those of you that don't know my Dad passed away this past September. About 2 years before he died he gave me his Lionfish because it was getting too big for his reef tank and was doing damage to the reef. I have had it ever since, but now he has outgrown my tank. So, I am donating him to the Natural Science Center, and I am taking him over there this morning.I am going to have them put a plaque on the tank that says "Lionfish donated in loving memory of Rick Stine" (my dad). Please go to the Natural Science Center and check him out sometime, he will be downstairs in their saltwater exhibit.

The NSS is nearly in my folks' backyard, I'll check it out if they're open while I'm up this weekend!
2/25/2009 1:58:24 PM
Yeah, it's in my backyard and my mom's as well. We live like a mile from there.

2/25/2009 9:36:51 PM
Yeah, It will probably be packed with both NCSU and WF fans tonight. They also do $.25 wings on Sundays or Mondays during NFL (i don't remember which), and their wings are actually really good for a little hole-in-the wall bar
2/26/2009 9:15:34 AM
Looks like I'll see the fish on Sunday afternoon before my parents' theatrics.
2/26/2009 1:57:13 PM
awesome, take pics if you can. the plaque probably won't be ready for 2 weeks or so

This is probably a silly question being that we are in Bumpkinville, NC but are there any clubs in Greensboro that have nights where they play trance/techno music?
3/1/2009 6:31:08 PM
snowin like whoa in gboro right now
3/1/2009 8:35:11 PM
Well that was a fun scary drive home from GSO to Burlington.
3/2/2009 12:22:21 AM
It was/still is nasty. Lots of wrecks.
3/2/2009 1:56:43 AM
i'm going to drive from raleigh to gboro right now. i'm scurred.also are people really w/o power in greensboro? because that would suck to get back and not have power.i would probably just die/cry.
3/2/2009 12:13:12 PM
^ the roads will be fine right now. There will be some refreeze tonight though, so if you are driving anywhere early tomorrow morning then be carefuland yes, some people lost power. I didn't, but my mom and both of my sisters did. All 3 of them only lost it for a few hours though.[Edited on March 2, 2009 at 3:59 PM. Reason : a]
3/2/2009 3:58:34 PM
I lost power for about 3 hours this morning down in Asheboro. Roads should be fine until midnight or so. After that if there's anything on them it's gonna be ice.
3/2/2009 4:16:22 PM
yea roads were fine. well except my parking lot i hope school is delayed tomorrow. i really want to sleep in for once in my lifeeeee. also what is a good chinese place in greensboro? i never eat chinese here. delivery chinese places, too.and good mexican?? and do not say mexico the restaurant i HATED that place. i don't get why it got such good reviews and everyone always says it is good. its gross. to me anyway.
3/2/2009 4:19:48 PM
Pablano's over in Friendly Center is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Greensboro.Phoenix Asian is my favorite Chinese restaurant, but they don't deliver. All the delivery Chinese places I have had in the area are pretty much the same.
3/2/2009 4:24:30 PM
cool thanks i will try them this week.yea, most chinese delivery places are pretty much the same...i mean, they all use the same menu. i mean come on, we can't be a LITTLE creative??!!but i will def try either the mexican or the chinese this week. have you ever eaten at mexico the restaurant? if not, i wouldn't recommend doing so.
3/2/2009 4:31:27 PM
China Garden Cafe on Spring Garden is pretty good. There's a Chinese place at the corner of Holden Rd and Vandalia Rd by the Food Lion that is also good. Both places deliver. The food is about the same, but they use different seasoning and or ingredients in a few dishes. As far as Mexican there's a few places that are decent. The restaurant on Tate St by UNCG is good it's called El Carreton. It's above where NY Pizza is at. There's also a Chinese place there, but the food is hit and miss in the Chinese place. On Battleground there's a couple of places. Casa Vallarta is pretty good and cheap. The place that used to be Wholly Guacamole is also pretty good, better imo. It's called Poblano's Mexican Bar and Grill now. Mi Pueblo's is pretty good. I think it's on High Point R. Just can't remember where though.
3/2/2009 4:41:36 PM
^ I think that place that used to be Wholly Guacomole is another Poblano's nowand yeah, Casa Vallarta is pretty good, but I wouldn't consider it cheap when it comes to Mexican. If you want good CHEAP mexican, go down Battleground a bit to Monterrey. For the price, you can't beat it.[Edited on March 2, 2009 at 5:27 PM. Reason : a]
3/2/2009 5:06:19 PM
my family eats at monterrey and now, since it opened, casa vallarta at least once a week. we have eaten at monterrey since we moved to gso in 94, and the people are so nice there and the food is delish.
3/2/2009 8:23:39 PM
^ I used to do the same when I lived at Kensington Place, which was right around the corner from both of those places.
3/2/2009 8:50:01 PM
awesome, i go to those places each time i get back into town
3/2/2009 10:02:46 PM
Casa Vallarta was a customer of mine when they first opened. If you ever go there, take a look at their floor mats and think of me.
3/2/2009 10:33:40 PM
Poblano's on HP road is pretty damn good. As far as Chinese food; Full Kee in High Point. Its the same owner as the famous Full Kee in Washington, D.C. Its a little more upscale but its excellent!
3/3/2009 3:29:57 AM
thats awesome eric, i love the science center and i was planning on going to see the meerkats when it warms up, i'll definitely visit the fish
3/3/2009 10:20:28 AM
Yeah Monterrey is good too. I can't believe I forgot about that place. Casa Vallarta is cheaper compared Poblanos though..lol
3/3/2009 12:00:00 PM
ate at poblano's at friendly tonight!!! it was good! i had taco salad mmmmm. they had good drink specials, too. on thursday at least. the 34 oz domestics.
3/6/2009 12:08:19 AM
how much were they ^ ?
3/6/2009 7:40:58 AM
^^ you gotta try their tortilla chicken soup. It is off the fucking hook.
3/6/2009 10:39:36 AM
^^ $3 i believe. i mean for 34 oz that is a good deal. just domestics but i mean that is how much you pay for a regular beer a lot of places^ i will have to try that next time! i liked what i had though, and we had the cheeeeeese dip, which is my fav at every mexican place
