I'm in Pittsburgh, and the IMAX version doesn't start here until the 29th either. So I don't think it's a Raleigh thing, I'm assuming that the IMAX version won't be released ANYWHERE until 2 weeks after it starts in the regular theaters.
6/29/2009 11:04:56 AM
I am thoroughly excited about this movie...Started rereading the book a couple weeks ago. III
6/29/2009 1:53:29 PM
^2 That's good to know it's not just Raleigh... I think it's because of Transformers being in IMAX. Last time it was released on the right day :\
6/29/2009 2:11:35 PM
Yeah, it was opening night last time. But... I didn't really like the IMAX version. I thought the 3D ending was fuzzy. I'll see it for the first time this time in a regular theater. I do wonder when tickets will go on sale.
6/29/2009 2:21:00 PM
Well, I can't watch 3D so I definitely wasn't looking forward to that. It just kinda sucks because it's a tradition between me and my cousin to go see it in IMAX and have a day out in Raleigh. We're just gonna settle for a nice theater in Raleigh.. but I will miss the IMAX big screenTickets for IMAX go on sale July 15th for non-members, July 8th (I think) for members
6/29/2009 3:08:17 PM
IMAX has a four week contract with Transformers. The Harry Potter release date was moved by Warner Brothers to July not knowing IMAX and Transformers had the contract. So the release date at every IMAX had to pushed back except for some theatres in LA and NYC.
6/29/2009 3:08:35 PM
This movie is going to be epic.
6/29/2009 3:25:16 PM
^2 Lame..^ I am skeptical. I just noticed the rating being PG... Which worries me because I feel like there was quite a bit of fighting in the book and I don't want to be watching some watered down shit so kids can watch it.
6/29/2009 3:31:37 PM
I don't really care, I've read the books cover to cover and just want to see the director's take on the plot. It's hard to explain, but I really cannot be disappointed with any of the movies, unless the film melts at the theater. I'm a fan, and no, I'm not sorry, lol.[Edited on June 29, 2009 at 3:41 PM. I've read all the books as well (more than once) but I am just wondering if it will be "epic".. Don't get me wrong, I will most likely watch it more than once and enjoy it each time I just had high hopes for this one..I am looking forward to the scene where Harry and Dumbledore get the horcrux and the inferi attack them
6/29/2009 4:05:36 PM
By a non-fan's definition, it may only be a "B+" movie. By my definition, it will be epic.
6/29/2009 4:08:45 PM
I have a bad feeling the scene with Dumbledore drinking the goblet and the fight at Hogwarts will be neutered to oblivion. I'm hearing that they are to get the PG rating in....
6/29/2009 4:58:58 PM
Well, we already know they cut most of the background fighting for the final scene.
6/29/2009 5:00:47 PM

Fuck balls that looks awesome.btw, Snape kills Dumbledore.
6/29/2009 6:44:45 PM
im incredibly excited about seeing this moviei might go alone so no one can distract me!and no drinks before or during because i hate leaving the theater to pee
6/29/2009 7:03:10 PM
This was my least favorite book. I'm really interested in seeing what they do with the material for the movie.

It really makes no sense to sensor down the later movies. They are growing up and the books get darker, more violent, and little more creepier. To go from PG-13 to PG is big step back. There is def some blood (where Draco steps and breaks Harry's nose) and where another character has his face busted.Anyways, just seems saddening to know they are going to minimize any tough scenes. III
6/30/2009 8:47:32 AM
^ I just thought of something... Does this mean they're cutting out the part where Harry uses the spell from the Half-Blood Prince's book (the one he has no idea what it'll do) and subsequently slashes Draco open????
6/30/2009 9:05:15 AM
sectumsempra... and i think it's a good bet that they will cut that part out, not that its a significant part of the story though (except for the part where he tries to use it against snape and he deflects it, revealing hes the half blood prince).
6/30/2009 9:13:12 AM
^ Exactly -- that's why I"m going to be upset if they cut it out. To me it's pretty important.. Plus I figured it would look pretty badass on film, but I guess that's not gonna happen.
6/30/2009 9:55:02 AM
Well, they might. I mean, they're playing up the whole Draco plot in the previews. So it could be important from that perspective. As a small gripey side-note. I wish they would make Ginny prettier. The actress herself is gorgeous, so I just feel like they're stuck on Ginny being a little girl. I mean, she's supposed to be attractive, or am I remembering that incorrectly?
6/30/2009 10:05:28 AM
nah, agreed, her face is busted. the only chick that has met expectations of hotness from what i imagined while reading the books was Fleur. Cho is a pretty close 2nd though.
6/30/2009 10:09:24 AM
6/30/2009 11:17:08 AM
^Exactly! I mean, Bonnie Wright is gorgeous! Why don't they let her look like that in the movie though?
6/30/2009 11:39:19 AM
I think the other one disappeared.
6/30/2009 11:48:30 AM
yeah, I saw this picture and couldn't believe it was her!!! girl cleans up nice.
6/30/2009 11:48:58 AM
Or at least photshops nice. Maybe it would take to long to airbrush every frame in the movie. Not really saying those pictures are doctored. Just saying...
6/30/2009 12:07:12 PM
She looks good in most pictures I've seen of her. She's 18, but I think they make her look too childish for playing a 15 year old.I also didn't realize Emma Watson was so pretty either.

6/30/2009 2:12:45 PM
I really hope that maybe 20 years down the road they re-make the harry potter films and get a directer/producer that isn't afraid to give it an R rating and really darken it up. I hate how they are sacrificing the content of the book for a bunch of kids. Shit, I've been reading Harry Potter since 6th grade so in a sense I feel like I've grown up with him (nerd, I know ) but it is just really disappointing that they don't progress the seriousness of the movies like how the books became darker/more serious.
7/2/2009 12:54:05 PM
One of the exclusive clips has Harry talking about sectumsempura....maybe there's still hope (the movie itself has gotten pretty good reviews so far)
7/2/2009 3:12:33 PM
^Do you have a link for the clip? Or was it one of those clips on TV?
7/2/2009 3:54:52 PM
^^^^It also has significance because it is Harry doing harm to others, showing he is an imperfect hero.

7/13/2009 3:13:10 PM
i am so excited about this movie!! i'll post in here after i see it wednesday but until them i am not looking in here! even though i know what happens
7/13/2009 4:35:53 PM
I want to see this movie, but from the previews it looks like another cgi-fest
7/13/2009 9:23:36 PM
^I mean there are only so many things in the Harry Potter Story line that actually exist in this world
7/13/2009 9:26:35 PM
I wanted to go and see it Wednesday during the day like I typically see movies to cut down on crowds (I'm a seat snob about movies that I care to see) but then I remembered that it's July and all the kiddies will be out like gangbusters.
7/13/2009 9:38:03 PM
I'm talked my boss into letting me take my youth groupers to the midnight premiere, so I'm getting paid to be there.I'm going to start reading the book again right now...let's see if I can finish in 22 hours
7/14/2009 1:49:15 AM
I watched it last night.Pretty good.More comical than the other flicks; I was expecting darker.
7/14/2009 8:20:57 AM
^ probably why it got the PG rating.
7/14/2009 9:05:59 AM
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/herocomplex/2009/07/harry-potter-countdown-michael-gambon.html Interesting article. Gambon (Dumbledore) said there's a major departure from the book in the scene filming his death. I wonder what they would have changed?
