The food is very ordinary. The interior/atmosphere is nice though.

The Pit did so much business on saturday (2 days after the Today show aired) that they ran out of food, yes completely ran out of food. They sat somewhere around 650 people for lunch, and well over 900 for dinner and had to close around 10pm.

The place is blowing up.

parker's is ok. their chicken is good. the bbq is average. the one in wilson seems slightly better to me than the one in greenville.

Got something for you people who love this joint... you better get on it fast! I'm sure Raleigh's elite will be all over it with a quickness:

Quote :
"Join us at The Pit for a Five Course BBQ Tasting next Wednesday, August 12th at 7:30pm!

The menu will be a preview of what we're been invited to serve at the prestigious James Beard House in New York, http://jamesbeard.org/?q=node/1337

MENU

Pulled Pork and Chopped North Carolina BBQ
Cole Slaw
Fried Green Tomatoes
Arugula Salad with Bacon-Sherry Vinaigrette
Grilled Pork Tenderloin
Sweet Potato Hash and Maple Demi-glaze
Carolina-Style Ribs
Mac n Cheese and Braised Collards
Banana Pudding

$50 per person with wine pairings
$40 per person for food alone

Reservations are required, (919) 890-4500, and space is limited!
"

At this rate, I imagine it's only a matter of time before all the pigs have a tuxedo dress code before they're sent to slaughter.

the difference is that Wilson actually has some very nice areas and sucessful businesses instead of just being one oversized ghetto throughout like the rest of the towns in eastern NC.
