Wheres the fucking doors?
12/3/2008 4:44:41 PM
HE'S TOO BALLER FOR DOORS JOEL
12/3/2008 4:56:04 PM
It's no fun if you cant get dirty while driving the damn thing... I put the doors back on, but put in removable hinge pins in case I wanna take them off.
12/3/2008 9:10:10 PM
Ok, so the power steering puked its guts on the trail at Uwharrie. Blew a pressure fitting.Should I look into an upgraded box of some sort, or just replace with a stock one? I dont necessarily want to go with hydraulic steering...I'm only running 35's.
12/8/2008 10:19:27 PM
I couldnt believe how easy one guy i wheeled with at harlan coul dsteer compared to me. he was runninga durango box in his TJ. I have no idea though if he did anything else, or the feasibility of runnign one in an XJ, but it definitely looked like a worthy upgrade
12/8/2008 10:54:32 PM
I read that a durango box will bolt right up actually.
12/8/2008 10:55:48 PM
it was Joel, just a stock durango box is much stronger. Advance can get em that or check http://www.car-part.com
12/9/2008 12:17:51 PM

12/9/2008 12:23:54 PM
NOPE, NOT WILL, IT WAS JOEL FOR SURE, I JUST DIDN'T USE A NAME SINCE I DIDN'T FIGURE THIS GUY KNEW HIM
12/9/2008 12:40:55 PM

12/9/2008 1:27:34 PM

^add an interior cage and just let the body "trailform"it's the new hydroform
12/9/2008 3:18:26 PM
I'm bout to do a full rollcage as soon as I can scrape up the steel.

12/9/2008 3:48:17 PM
why even put a cage in it? wheel it till you destroy the body, the buy another $250 one, swap shit over.
12/9/2008 8:26:50 PM
wat?
12/10/2008 12:51:18 AM
he paid $250 for it
12/10/2008 1:57:19 AM
12/10/2008 2:24:50 AM
ummm...no. How about I just build this one up and make it last for a while.
12/10/2008 7:36:07 AM
maybe if you concentrate really hard your wish will come true truth is XJs or any other unibody are disposable when it comes to wheeling. When my Comanche is gone, no way i would get another. Not that i don't like it, i just know that these things aren't designed for what we do with them
12/10/2008 7:43:21 AM
I see what you're saying, but I do believe whenever I damage the body on this thing too badly, I'm going to strip the parts and build a buggy...essentially tube-framing it.
12/10/2008 7:45:17 AM

Pimp C and Mike JOOOOOOOONES
12/10/2008 8:14:14 AM
did you build that bumper.
12/10/2008 2:57:07 PM
I lucked out and got them for $200 SHIPPED to my door on ebay. I had fabbed a set of bumpers up and then found these and they looked a lil nicer than mine (not much previous metal working/tig/mig experience), so I went with it. I figured it was worth its price in steel if nothing else.It wasnt winch ready though. I bought a winch plate at Harbor Freight and cut it down to size and welded it onto the bumper.[Edited on December 10, 2008 at 4:12 PM. Reason : .]

Thanks.Just wondering if any of you people with XJ's had built a rollcage for their rig. I'm looking to build one for mine soon and was looking for some tips/ideas.
3/16/2009 3:06:18 PM
Note the cage in this tired, old, piece of shit unibody.look at this pathetic piece, that dude should definitely build a buggy.
3/16/2009 3:46:58 PM
my advice is if you plan to run door bars, make sure to kick the A-pillars as far forward as possible, instead of how i brought them straight down on the MJthat thing is a pain to get my fat ass in and out, i need to get a removable steering wheel, which would solve the problem.
3/16/2009 3:53:00 PM
Good call. I'd definitely like to put it as far forward as possible.I'm also keeping my backseat, so I'd like to keep it as open in the rear as I can. Need room to put my big toolboxes and passengers in the back.
3/16/2009 4:09:08 PM
BTW, just for archival purposes...he's a few pics from my first trip to Uwharrie in December.Winched up it, hahahI hate mud...but it's so damn fun.
3/16/2009 4:20:06 PM
You hate mud... what mud?Lots of tirespin trying to get up that rock huh? I think you need some 37s.How much did your call to Tom Woods set you back?
3/16/2009 5:05:09 PM
3/16/2009 5:14:05 PM
^^Mud pic didnt work. I think I paid about $500 to Tom Woods for a SYE and a driveshaft.^Yeah, that's kinda the reason I didnt give it much effort making it up that ledge or anything too difficult that day. Didnt have a rollcage and didnt want to chance it.[Edited on March 16, 2009 at 6:14 PM. Reason : .]
