Going to a pre-screening in about an hour. Gotta love the corporate sellout
11/13/2008 4:42:50 PM
lots of good action, but i found the plot a little hard to follow. it probably woulda helped if i watched casino royale first so i could remember some of the names when i heard em. i liked it though.
11/13/2008 10:44:58 PM
11/13/2008 10:47:04 PM
well i think it was just the names...i got the basic premise, but lost in some of the details.

JAMES BLOND IS NO SEAN CONNERY[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 2:08 AM. Reason : ]
11/14/2008 2:07:00 AM
Daniel Craig is the man, you are an idiot. What does it matter what color his hair is? I mean this guy really is British.
11/14/2008 2:11:38 AM
they couldn't come up with a story so they took all 6 of Connery's movies and made them into one and placed him into Connery scenesfucking lametotally caught on the moment he gets the suitcase from the hotel, when the girl drives by and tells him to get in
11/14/2008 2:14:55 AM
Craig made a good Bond. A good Bond doesn't make a good Bond movie. Too hard for me to follow, although I am running on fumes at this point. I understood most of the relationships and between countries and companies, but some stuff just didn't make sense as to why he did it.
11/14/2008 2:15:46 AM
it was pretty good, didn't really have it's own identity though, more of a continuation of the first movie.
11/14/2008 2:15:49 AM
it was decent
11/14/2008 2:22:27 AM
i dont know what just happened.
11/14/2008 2:23:14 AM
i liked it.....a bit lost at some parts but hey....it was fun to watch and thats the point of a movie...amirite?
11/14/2008 2:25:34 AM
The explosions at the end was pretty damn retarded in my opinion, since its pretty unfeasible
11/14/2008 8:34:41 AM
^^^^^agreed. But I thought it delivered, and left me wanting more.
11/14/2008 2:17:02 PM
So, I should be seeing it tonight or tomorrow. How was the Star Trek trailer?
11/14/2008 3:11:06 PM
I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as casino, but a decent bond flick.also while i do like Daniel Craig, this had me lollinghttp://black20.com/black20-trailer-park/quantum-bonds[Edited on November 14, 2008 at 6:53 PM. Reason : epic fail on my part]

11/14/2008 6:48:53 PM
a resounding 'meh'sit close to the back if you want to have any idea what's going on during the shakycam-stravaganza fight scenes
11/14/2008 7:30:00 PM

just got back, wasn't anywhere near as good as CR, and it was unbelivable how fast the fight scenes were cut, especially at the beginning, i couldn't tell what was going on.
11/14/2008 10:03:23 PM
i will admit how bond got the bike was great
11/14/2008 10:09:33 PM
11/15/2008 12:15:39 AM
^ Things didn't turn out so well for you.
11/15/2008 12:29:27 AM
terribly disappointing. ADD editing of action scenes, a convoluted plot, and a totally anticlimactic ending.wait 'til it hits redbox if you're really curious.
11/15/2008 1:07:13 AM
this is literally the best bond thats been made so far
11/15/2008 1:24:45 AM
the bonds keep getting better and better! Awesome movie
11/15/2008 1:38:18 AM
I didn't get a watchmen or star trek trailer at my showing.I got Seven Pounds, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Valkyrie, The Yes Man, Angels and Demons, and Bedtime Stories.
11/15/2008 1:50:00 AM
that new star trek movie is going to piss off a lot of hardcore trekkie fansi'm not one of them, but i probably won't see it eitherw.r.t QoS, I echo the desire for more clarity in the editing of the action scenes, it's like the 'shaky cam' of the Bourne movies but instead with far to many quick cuts and jumps aroundalso I wish I had watched Casino Royale again because it referenced the storyline and characters of that movie far more than I was expecting and I was a bit foggy on some of the things that had happened
11/15/2008 2:10:55 AM
11/15/2008 1:06:35 PM
any more opinions? Most of the ones I got last night from people who went ranged from "meh it was alright" to "i thought it was a lot worse than the last one"
11/15/2008 1:08:59 PM
i don't like how theres no more scenes with Bond getting equipped with new gadgetry, I understand that Q died but this is a necessary part of Bond movies. And in most Bond movies he fucks 2 girls, but in this one he only fucked the redhead. Also, I liked that M had more of a role in this movie.
11/15/2008 1:22:18 PM
^thats actually a good thing. The gadgets got too ridiculous. Now its more believable that he's just an MI-6 agent.
11/15/2008 1:35:18 PM
I'll probably get totally flamed for this, but no one else is really discussing it so here it goes...I said earlier that they put Craig into a lot of Connery scenes and I went looking through the internets and found that they used the films from the 60s as the blue print (even the fight scenes are supposed to be reminiscent of the Red Grant fight in the train car--which makes sense...lots of action in small spaces). I honestly didn't think the movie was horrible and I liked all the references/throw backs to the old movies that I recognized, but I'm still pretty critical about the movie especially when everyone thinks these last 2 movies have been the best thing since sliced bread. I like Daniel Craig's acting as Bond, but I don't like the Bond character they've built over these last 2 movies and I don't find his motivations and reasons for being the way he is very believable (especially his whole vengence-for-Vespa vendetta). There were some great Bond moments that I thought worked really well and some moments that were missed or overstated. Him kicking up the bike to steal bike in the alley way was great. The opera scene where he's on top of the stage looking at the crowd and compromises the QUANTUM meeting is honestly one of the best Bond moments in any movie. The Bond girls were very much lacking (1 per half hour has become standard dogma) and I thought M's presence was too significant and probably hurt the film.Overall I think the movie was a mixure of old classic Bond scenes modernized to fit today's world, which created a weird Bizzaro Bond Universe making the movie diluted, not really memorable and overally lacking orginiality and identity (as some people has previously stated). Like I said earlier, I realized early that a lot of scenes were being duplicated from previous movies and from what I can remember...--when Bond comes out of the hotel with the briefcase and Camille drives by and tells him to get in, the same scene happens in You Only Live Twice.--The most obvious reference is the Fields death-by-oil homage to Goldfinger. As is Bond's reaction to the situation and him and M's exchange about personal vendetta's and work.--Next is Greene's rehashing of Dr. No's SPECTRE speech (btw, Greene is no Dr. No, and QUANTUM is no SPECTRE)--The dead geologist drowned underwater--Plenty O'Toole in Diamonds are Forever.--On his way to see Mathis, Bond is riding in a speedboat and thescene of him just sitting there next to the flag on the boat is very reminiscent of From Russia With Love. Same with the speedboat chase earlier in the movie--During the Opera when he listens in on the Quantum meeting and interrupts and lets him know he's listening in--straight out of Goldfinger when he's playing cards at the resort.--Bond and Fields' sex scene is very much like that of Bond and Fiona Volpe's sex scene in Thunderball (maybe its the red hair, but I think it's more than that, and if it was just the red hair, then you've also got Tracy, Tiffany Case, Helga Brandt references...). The Opera Quantum meeting itself is very Thunderballish.--Even the sets were built to resemble those of the old Ken Adams sets. The hydrogen powered hotel reminded me a lot of the Fort Knox set.--There's the "where's Fekkish?" scene from TSWLM when Bond drops the agent he doesn't know works for MI6 onto Greene's SUV from the rooftop.--I kept playing The Living Daylights over and over in my head during the dogfight. There's probably more but I doubt anyone here really cares

I really enjoyed it. It was a great follow-up to Casino Royale as far as what the Bond character needed to be.I'd imagine that, in the next movie, we'll get to go back to the Bond from the beginning of Casino Royale.
11/15/2008 10:05:56 PM
actually, I'd imagine it would be the complete opposite Bond from the one we saw at the beginning of CR
11/15/2008 10:10:39 PM
At the beginning of CR, he's far more the playboy, quick-witted type. Granted, grittier than Brosnan ever was, but he was still pretty comfortable cracking jokes and seducing random women. He dials it down considerably after the torture scene, gets hurt by Vesper's death, and then this movie is far more a man on a mission than the stereotypical Bond.[Edited on November 15, 2008 at 10:18 PM. I like how the military dictator realizes hes fucked 5 seconds into his regime.Best line of course is the "you people really should find a better meeting place".Not great, not bad, definitely needed to have freshened up on Casino Royale, and as noted, do not sit at the front of the theatre!
