then again it may not be a bad fit
12/13/2007 5:29:42 PM
i could see mooch being a pretty good college coach. would the WC offense work in the big eleven?
12/13/2007 5:48:42 PM
michigan and osu are the only 2 teams with the talent to run it effectively, so possibly

http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=318514Cutcliffe offered Duke job
12/14/2007 7:57:28 AM
lol. poor gaybee. Tennessee is going to tank more than usual now.
12/14/2007 9:08:34 AM
i don't know why anyone would take that job, to be frank.not that it's not possible to succeed, but it's going to be the hardest place in the country to really get going.
12/14/2007 9:11:34 AM
na, they will be fine... Borges wants the job and he would do fine... if anything it will be good to get someone less conservative in and Cut deserves another chance, he got a raw deal at Ole Miss and I would be really interested in seeing what he could do at Duke. Hes a nice guy and has a great track record of developing QBs.Biggest impact will be potentially losing ground on Terrelle Pryor (#1 QB recruit). Everyone had him going to Ohio State but Tennessee has made a shitload of ground up but I think that would all go out the window if Cutcliffe leaves[Edited on December 14, 2007 at 9:16 AM. http://www.volunteertv.com/home/headlines/12495046.htmlCutcliffe Expected to Become Duke Head Coach(WVLT) -- GoVolsXtra, WVLT Sports Overtime's media partner is reporting that sources on UT campus say Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe has been offered the duke head coaching job and that he is expected to accept the position. There is no indication yet whether Cutcliffe would remain with the team through the Jan. 1 Outback Bowl.Cutcliffe's current tenure as the Vols' offensive coordinator has been two years; however, he coached 17 seasons at UT in the 1980's and 90's. In between his two stints in Knoxville, Cutcliffe served as head coach for the only time in his career, guiding Ole Miss to a 44-29 record over a span of six seasons before being fired in 2004.

12/15/2007 5:33:52 PM
^ ??
12/15/2007 5:45:12 PM
^thats a lot more than what they were paying Roof, and that is more than a lot of schools that are a lot more successful than Duke pay their coaches . . . he's going to have to do a lot better than Roof or Franks.
12/15/2007 5:49:26 PM
I assume that includes endorsements, tv/radio etc.
12/15/2007 5:55:03 PM
so Butch Davis is at UNC and Dave Cutcliffe is at Duke ... I'm glad we have O'Brien ... *sigh*
12/15/2007 6:25:25 PM
^ hahaha, hey, Cut wanted the State job, just didnt get offered
12/15/2007 6:31:25 PM
^^ I'd take TOB over either of those two coaches any day of the week.
12/15/2007 6:35:10 PM
not I
12/15/2007 6:39:44 PM
^^ 'cause O'Brien has proved he can build a powerhouse football team like Cutcliffe and Davis ...
12/15/2007 8:10:49 PM
Cutcliffe at Ole Miss: 44–29 (60% wins)Davis at UM and one year at UNC: 55-28 (66% wins) (we'll leave out his pitiful excuse for an NFL career with 42% winning percentage)TOB at BC and one year at NCSU: 80-52 (61% wins)"powerhouses" my ass.
12/15/2007 8:26:12 PM
SEC success > Big East/ACC success
12/15/2007 9:44:07 PM
i still wouldn't call Ole Miss a "powerhouse"
12/15/2007 10:09:16 PM
I wouldnt either, but he did get a raw deal there, he had them going in the right direction
12/15/2007 10:15:30 PM
12/16/2007 2:10:08 AM
wait, so we have the lowest paid coach in the triangle? I suppose that if TOB has a banner year we are going to have to anty up, and do it before Butch Davis blackmails UNC out of another raise.
12/16/2007 10:47:40 AM
Rodriguez to Michigan. After talking to almost every team that with a coaching vacancy the past 2-3 years someone finally gets him away from WVU.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3157227
12/16/2007 2:38:12 PM

12/16/2007 5:06:37 PM
^^^ I actually think Ainge will be a better pro QB than college, nothing amazing but could be on the Trent Green level. I could see late in the second with a LOT of teams needing a QB or backup QB
