nohave you ever seriously driven both of them in the fucking snow? i had a 2wd 4runner..everytime you touched the fucking gas in snow the back end would come around unless you barely gave it any gas.. basically you had to be barely spinning the tires or less or it would try to come around. yeah i could keep it straight-but the average driver couldn't have. same thing on the corvette. same thing on my tahoe in 2WDnow, exhibit (b), 1994 piece of shit dodge stealth, FWD. this thing you can put the pedal on the floor and guess what, it goes where ever you point the front wheels because OH Yea, those are the fucking drive wheels. they PULL the majority of the car from the front instead of trying to push it from the rear---------------imagine this, assume you're super man and your legs produce ohh around 300hp. which would make the car go straight easier: pushing it from behind while the wheels are on ice (the slightest angled force is going to send the back end spinning around) or pulling it from the front... obviously pulling is a better ideawhich is basically what FWD does-----------------i agree with the point that RWD is better on a track, hell it's better in performance on the street too in terms of speed in good conditions WITH a good driver.. but in bad, icey and or rainy conditions where average dip shits don't know what they're doing, the average person is better off with FWD, period.[Edited on March 24, 2008 at 8:21 PM. We've already established that from a start, yes its better. Thats about it. And yes I have experience with both, though not in very comparable vehicles. Please give me a break with your corvette example, which obviously wasn't equipped with suitable tires for snow.sigh.
3/24/2008 8:42:56 PM
Naw guys, this is the stupid ass point we are arguing about:
3/24/2008 8:45:37 PM
neither was the stealth, but it still did better than any other 2wd vehicle i've ownedk, going to bed now

^You didn't destroy it at all. You fucking agreed with me. For the american populace, and the world populace, THEY ARE SAFER in ALL road conditions. Not only that, EVERY FUCKING PERSON IN THIS THREAD AGREES WITH ME TOO.Keep living in your dream world buddy.also:

I don't think the Solstice was ever promised to be 16-17k, considering the Miata starts in the low 20s nowadays.
3/24/2008 9:56:11 PM
Yeah but the miata has "market share" in the roadster market
3/24/2008 10:15:16 PM
Back to the OTSaw this car in the flesh at the show last night. freaking sweet car. Steal for the money. If it has good driving dynamics I'm sold.
3/26/2008 12:47:33 PM
If they make their pricepoint and like you say if the handling is there, this will be a BADASS platform for a spec racing class in a couple of years. Low cost of entry, low part cost (compared to most RWD spec classes anyway).I'm interested to see how the powertrain holds up, and if Hyundai will support selling just the powertrain a-la Honda and Toyota. Might be a sick option for a super cheap formula or "insert kit car application here" if the drivetrain is any good
3/26/2008 12:54:27 PM
probly gonna get the same bumper to bumper 100k warranty that the other cars get. I'll be down for one when it comes out, if it does stay at 20k
3/26/2008 3:44:11 PM
Not a single one of you fuckers is going to buy one of these. Hell ill give you 20$ towards it , call me when your signing the papers.
3/26/2008 5:25:32 PM
or you're
3/26/2008 5:38:42 PM
Oh thanks for the grammar lesson.
3/26/2008 5:40:10 PM
No I won't be buying one, however you can't argue that a simple car with 300hp, rwd and a manual transmission in the market, selling new in the twenty something thousand range is anything but good news**if it doesn't weigh 40,000 lbs.Ahmet
3/26/2008 5:46:25 PM
^agreed. the weight alone is a turn off
3/26/2008 6:04:07 PM
Threat title says starting at 20k$I know your reading skills are about par with noen's ability to logic quinn, but I mean, its in the title.Like right there. In the title.I mean im staring at it right now.
3/26/2008 7:12:16 PM
^who was that directed to?the thread title is a mistake. discussed at length on page 1.Turbo 4 will start at 20K, the V6 will probably star at around 25K. (not disclosed by Hyundai yet)
3/26/2008 7:20:03 PM
I wasn't referring to the v6I was referring to base RWD modelIt was in reference to my boo, Quinn.<3

Wait, what was the point of this thread? That the Koreans came out with a new heavy, slow coupe and a Civic is still better? Ok, just checking.
3/27/2008 9:19:27 AM
The civic is better then like 3 cars on the planetJust so you know.
3/27/2008 10:49:59 AM
^yeah, like the Cobolt, Corolla, & Focus
3/27/2008 11:23:56 AM
it weighs 3500lbs
3/27/2008 12:08:15 PM
it might, but where are you getting your info. B/c there are no official stats.

http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/models/car/?car=170038
3/27/2008 9:41:12 PM
Well, while I acknowledge that the car will not be a lightweight, that website doesn't hold much stock, as the car is only in PROTOTYPE stages right now. But yeah, if its under 3300 I will be very surprised.
3/27/2008 10:59:56 PM
3500 puts it inline with almost every other ~300hp sporty car out there
3/28/2008 12:53:47 AM
except the civic powR

those of you complaining about the weight should read this, which i posted on page 2:Hyundai planning lightweight Genesis coupe, targa model to follow
3/28/2008 10:03:39 AM
I wonder what constitutes lightweight these days?
3/28/2008 10:05:43 AM
my guess is IF the new model is 3,500 pounds, the lightweight version will be 3,000 pounds at the minimum.
3/28/2008 10:06:47 AM
I don't know of any car company that cut 500 lbs in a performance model.200lbs yes, 500?
3/28/2008 10:08:18 AM
well first of all, i am hoping that 3,500 is the V6 model, and the I4 turbo is more like 3,400 or 3,350. and then, i said at minimium 3,000.
3/28/2008 10:11:15 AM
I can't see there being that much of a difference in weight betwen the v6 and I4 models, unless a lot of the extra weight come from the extra features on v6 models. We'll see in time. Even if it does weigh 3,500lb with a 300hp v6, its still better (hopefully cheaper) than a mustang... But then that's just me hating Fords...Wow a Mustang GT PREMIUM costs $27,420 MSRP. And right now you should be able to get it for $24k OTD...I'm really starting to wonder how the Genesis Coupe is going to compete...[Edited on March 28, 2008 at 10:40 AM. Reason : hmmm...]
3/28/2008 10:32:23 AM
you negros need to understand lightweight is like 1500 lbs.nah'mean
3/28/2008 11:27:31 AM
The mustang is a piece of shit. The v6 mustang is a piece of shit aimed at women. If you were being serious about wondering how the genesis would compete with the mustangYou're in the wrong forum.
3/28/2008 11:31:48 AM
When I said compete, I didn't exactly mean just on the track. I mean, we don't know about the reliability of the new Hyundai and all the quarks its going to have. And who knows how well it'll handle. Hyundai said that it was going to be a "mustang killer." I was simply putting out there a nicely equipped Mustang with 300hp could be had for around $24k OTD. ($26,420 MSRP). I was merely basing my statement on hp, weight, and price comparison. IMO, there's still too much unknown about the car to make any solid conclusions.I figured Hyundai would try to compete with the mustang in every aspect (based on THEIR statement); more power, better handling, sexier/cooler design, higher quality, less weight, lower cost, better gas mileage, etc... I'm finding it hard to see the Genesis coupe beating the price of a Mustang... They're the ones who set the Mustang as the benchmark to beat. [Edited on March 28, 2008 at 11:55 AM. 3/28/2008 11:54:31 AM
lightweight now is <2800lbslightweight before was <2000lbslightweight tomorrow will be <3500lbs
3/28/2008 11:56:25 AM
i remember <2000 lbs cars now we're lucky to get them under 3000.get rid of all the extra junk, like rear seat, pass seat, radio, interior, dash, and more
3/28/2008 12:17:27 PM

I had the unfortunate experience of driving a Mustang for a week. I couldn't wait to get back in my Saturn. It was one of the worst driving experiences of my life. The only thing I liked about the car is the exterior design. It does LOOK good, but god is it awful.
3/28/2008 1:44:38 PM
im tellin yah. weight makes a huge difference. my blue car was right under 2000lbs. could have gone lighter. even with a stock motor it still keeps up.
