SPOILER

if you beat it with all 120 stars, the game is playable as Luigi.
If you beat it with all 120 stars as Luigi, the grand finale galaxy is unlocked and you can get the 121st star.

Woot, managed to pick this up from TRU after work. They seemed to have plenty of copies.

The Ice level is getting on my nerves a bit. But that sweets mini galaxy was one of the most frustrating levels I have played in a long time. Thank god you kept on getting free lives, because I must of died at least 9 times.

Question based off of previous SPOILER:

Playing as Luigi, do you actually control differently? Does he have higher jumps or anything?

OK, for line spacing in a spoiler to work there has to be lines before AND after the spoiler. If there's a post at the bottom of the page after yours my eyes will still be very tempted to read the spoiler and keywords like, say, Luigi (spoiler), will jump out at me.

Not upset about it (kind of predictable honestly), but still.

If you think the sweet galaxy is bad, wait until the sling pod galaxy.

Oh god the sling pod galaxy pissed me off. I'm glad Nintendo sent me those soft controller jackets because after I died around 15th time I threw it.

meh. Sling pod was a cakewalk for me.

The only real challenge I've had so far was the first Cosmic Comet race (Good Egg Galaxy maybe?) I'm ~50 stars in.

I love this game, but I wish they would've made it a little more challenging.

I haven't really had a problem with any of the levels except the damn Ray Racing. For whatever reason that mini-game kicks my ass every time, I can't even finish a lap!

I've died a good bit in several levels, but I wouldn't call the game terribly hard. The later levels do ratchet things up a good deal. Sling Pod and Sweet Sweet were tough, but thanks to the easy 1ups in both (collecting Star Bits ftw), it wasn't that bad.

this game is just evidence of how bad the Wii is for third person action games, a problem first made clear in last year’s “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

man, these purple coin stars are intense. the coins in the honeybee galaxy are all on these edges and shit. i kept thinking mario was going to fall off or something. and yeah, beating that rock guy on daredevil sucked.

Just got through the first Bowser fight. I'm really glad they kept the music and genral "obstacle course" like structure from SM64, those were my favourite levels.

Up to about 19 stars right now and I've enjoyed the game as much as any other Mario game up to this point. I remember Mario Sunshine being just as fun towards the beginning until the novelty of the waterpack wore off. Sweet Sweet Galaxy kicks ass. I love watching people play it for the first time.

Mario Sunshine just became too much work and not enough fun.

And it got irritating to get all the way through a semi-difficult level just to get to a sub-level and fall the fuck off of a cliff.

This has videos showing how to get every single star. Pretty much beats any kind of other guide.

The purple coin star in Toy Time is a bitch. I tried it maybe four times and gave up.

BTW Super Mario Galaxy is now the highest rated game on gamerankings.com

Galaxy is beyond great. 10 stars, 2nd dome opened, and I question why i'm on the internet and not playing the game right now.

Sweet sweet cost me quite a few lives.

Oh and i guess they always start you back at 4 lives when you start the game over from a save to not make it super ridiculous to keep lives like Super Mario Land?

Just beat the game with minimal stars. Played it for 10 hours straight today cause I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to get the rest of the stars.

I just got 120 stars. If anybody is curious at to what happens, here you go:

**SPOILERS**

Yes, you unlock Luigi, and he does control differently. He can jump MUCH higher than mario (like twice as high, his normal jump is almost as high as mario's triple jump, meaning galaxies where you need to clear land quickly like Sweet Sweet galaxy become a breeze with the long jump), and he runs faster. On the flip side, he also has a pretty bad skidding problem. He's pretty hard to use when you are walking on narrow platforms. In addition, the game's difficulty ramps up. There are more enemies, and the puzzles leading to the stars are a little bit different. It's pretty awesome.

** END SPOILER TK421 **

The hardest star in the game is by far the purple coin star in the Dreadnought galaxy. It's basically a side scrolling platforming puzzle with changes in gravity. And there are no repeats, meaning you have to get every coin on the first shot or else you fail. The platforms move pretty fast, and the coins can be in hard to reach places. The gravity isn't so bad when it's normal (meaning gravity is pulling mario down), but when it changes and you walk on the ceiling or the sides, its hard to know how to do your jumps and oftentimes youll fall of the side of the platform. It's really frustrating.

The control scheme is perfect, as far as I am concerned. The only thing that gets me sometimes is when I am running around on a really small planet, I tend to lose perspective on direction, but I think that is more user error than anything

One thing that kind of annoys me is if I am running towards a goomba or something and I spin to stun him but I'm like half a millimeter away and the second I'm done spinning the bastard runs into me.

^ and ^^, yeah, that has definitely annoyed me many a time. its usually poor camera angles that make me think i'm closer to the goomba than i really am and then they get me as soon as the spin stops.
