I just did the underwater trick, worked fairly well, just didn't have a skimmer to get the residue off the top of my mini pom pool.

The season has started again. Wal-Mart has them for $2.28 each and they're not half bad for the first crop.[Edited on September 8, 2008 at 10:28 AM. Reason : 2.28]

BumpOur local Food Lion in Chapel Hill has POM brand pomegranates for $2 each. My fiancee just grabbed 4 of them -- we'll see how they are shortly. They look really good from the outside at least.
10/22/2008 7:26:10 PM
NOM NOM NOMsooooooo good
10/22/2008 7:27:05 PM
BEST FRUIT EVER
10/22/2008 9:04:02 PM
the ones from wal-mart are pretty small, while tasty they are not the best, later in the year they should be better
10/22/2008 10:20:27 PM
Just had my first spoonful out of the ones from Food Lion. Incredible. They're big too.
10/22/2008 10:30:29 PM
Just nommed one
10/22/2008 10:45:43 PM
Just had one...Unfortunately I'm sick and my throat hurts, so it didn't taste like it normally does and the seeds didn't feel great going down my throat...but it was still great.
10/22/2008 10:48:40 PM
I love these!!! 10/10 thread
10/22/2008 11:27:12 PM
This year's pomegranates seem to be drying my mouth out more than usual. Anyone else noticed this?
10/30/2008 9:42:20 PM
LETS ALL EAT THE TRENDY FRUIT!!!1
10/31/2008 1:00:15 AM
That Pama liquor is INSANE. It's the first liquor I can comfortably drink on ice without that wince-factor after you sip. Great shit, you WILL end up getting yourself drunk

Grrr....I was peeling a pomegranate today and putting the seeds in a bowl to eat with a spoon like I normally do.... one of my kittens came up to investigate, and promptly sneezed in the bowl. Had to throw away the whole bowl-full, which was ~1/3rd of the pomegranate at this point.
11/1/2008 5:56:59 PM
I would have just thoroughly washed them in hot water and then had them (after cooling them).Or for those who want to be extra careful, you could have rinsed them in hot water, and then added a little bit of boiling water, crushed them, and then simmered the mush to create a rich pomegranate sauce/syrup, which could be used on meat. (used in Lebanon)
11/1/2008 6:01:12 PM
neegro plzjust put them in the fridge.. ooooh weee cold poms
11/1/2008 6:02:01 PM
Eh, easier to throw away and just keep going. edit: All 3 of our cats are rescues from an animal shelter and as such they all have upper-respiratory infections that they will carry for life. Just being extra careful...[Edited on November 1, 2008 at 6:09 PM. Reason : ]

This week at Harris Teeter. Tropicana Pure Pom Blueberry is 2 for $4.
12/7/2008 10:47:15 AM
3 for $6 at Whole Foods - they're pretty good sized too!
12/7/2008 11:20:41 AM
So where in the world were the pomegranates this season? Outside of like two weeks in December I never saw them - was it just where I was shopping?

2 in the fridge

Thanks for the bumpage. My wife just brought two POM pomegranates home from a trip she was on in Wisconsin -- neither of us has seen any locally. Does anyone have any leads? I would love to go pick some up. I have checked a Harris Teeter in Cary and one in Apex; neither had any pomegranates.
10/24/2009 6:19:41 PM
...and of course as soon as I post that, I head to the store to grab some stuff for dinner and right in the entrance is a display of the largest, reddest, most beautiful pomegranates I've ever seen. $3/pomegranate at the Harris Teeter off of Green Level to Durham Road in Cary.

i bought a $6 bottle of "%100 pomegranate juice" at the grocery store. it tastes suspiciously a lot like cranberry juice. i don't think i've ever ate pomegranate. maybe i'll pick up a couple next time out.
10/24/2009 8:48:54 PM
percent 100 eh?
10/24/2009 8:51:13 PM
oh damn, what the hell? wtf is wrong with me? oh well, its too late to edit. so yeah, it was percent 100, and still tasted like cranberry juice.
