Williamsburg Savings Bank.

located in Fort Greene brooklyn and its currently the tallest building in brooklyn at around 500 ft. I think someone is trying to build something around 1000 ft in downtown brooklyn but who knows. Its a few blocks from my apartment and you can pretty much see it everywhere because its so much bigger than everything around it. The recently put in some apartments on the upper floors and a 700 sqf 1 bedroom is going for 620k. eeeeeeeeh.

An interesting sidenote on the Williamsburg bank. One of the principal financers of that Condo conversion project was none other than Magic Johnson, lol

And yeah, there are developers trying to build some huge project in downtown brooklyn, but there's a lot of opposition.

500 Fifth Avenue in NYC. The building was built in 1931, stands 697 ft. (212 m) tall, and has 60 floors. If you think it looks similar architecturally to the Empire State Building, well you'd be right. It was designed by the same architects who designed the ESB. In fact they designed it at the same time that they were designing the ESB.

In the future Raleigh Skyline pic--what is that ominous blue block behind the new RBC building? I can recognize most of the new construction, but I was unaware of anything that would be as tall or taller than RBC, nor where exactly that would be sitting...

Anyone know anything about this? Also, are you sure you're not confusing that with the Reynolds project, which has been greenlighted by the city and is going in at Hillsborough & Dawson? That one was originally rumored to be 32 stories, though I've been more commonly hearing 20-something lately. I've not kept up with that project recently but I think it's a done deal that a tower of some sort will replace the current occupant of that property (a rather uninteresting 1950's 3-story city-owned office building).

Yeah, it's insane how many skyscrapers are going up in CLT or are proposed right now.

There are about 15-20 cranes that I can see driving in from my side of the city.

The four tallest buildings in Cleveland. All of which are over 500 ft tall.

1. Key Tower. 57 stories, 947 ft tall. Completed in 1991. It used to be the tallest building between Chicago and New York City.




It looks like it's about to crush this little building.



2. Terminal Tower. 52 stories, 708 ft tall. Completed in 1930, it was the second tallest building in the world at the time.







3. 200 Public Square aka BP Tower. 45 stories, 658 ft tall. Completed in 1985.






4. Tower at Erieview. 40 stories, 529 ft tall. Completed in 1964 (you can tell from the architecture that it was built in the 60s).






That Albany Skyline looks like something that would be out of Batman comic.

Two buildings that will be in London in the future.

Bishopgate Tower aka The Pinnacle aka 22-24 Bishopsgate. It will be 63 stories, and 945 ft tall.





The Leadenhall Building aka The Cheese Grater. It will have 48 stories, and be 737 ft tall.

35 East Wacker Drive aka the Jewelers' Building in Chicago. It is 40-stories and 523 ft tall. It was known as the Jewelers Building, b/c for the first fourteen years of the building's life it contained a 22-story car lift inside its core. Delivery vehicles would enter on Lower Wacker Drive and ride up to jewelry merchants to make safe transfers. It was completed in 1927 and was once the tallest building outside of New York City. It became a historic Chicago landmark in 1994. The building is featured in scenes from 2005's "Batman Begins", with Batman perched on one of the turrets rising at the corner of the dome's base.

At least they had the decency to not make them taller than the original. That would have been insulting, at least in my opinion. (they're actually a couple hundred feet shorter...)

Russia Tower a skyscraper in the supertall category that is currently under construction in the Moscow International Business Center of Moscow, Russia. Construction began in September, 2007, and is planned to be completed in 2012. Upon reaching its final height of 612.2 m (2,009 ft), it will be the tallest building in Europe and the second tallest in the world, after the Burj Dubai. The tower will contain 118 floors, 101 elevators, and underground parking to accommodate 3,680 automobiles. Commercial retail shops will be located at the base of the building. The maximum capacity of the building is projected to be around 30,000.







Everyone reading this, please post some of your favorite Art Deco skyscrapers. I'd like to see some I've never seen before. I know Chicago and New York have a ton of them.

Hmm, Art Deco...I don't really have the time to hunt for pics right now, but in the ideas category...check out the Guardian building in Detroit, Carbon & Carbide Building in Chicago (two of my favorites), Bryant Hotel in NYC, Reynolds tower in Winston (we've actually got an underappreciated, if not especially tall, Art Deco tower in downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville St. across from 333 Corporate)...there's a very well-known one in LA that I can't think of right now...of course the main ones in NYC (Chrysler, Empire, Rockefeller Center...)

Here's a nice Art Deco building in Houston. The JPMorgan Chase Building. It was completed in 1929, has 33 stories, and is 428 ft. tall. Formerly known as the Gulf Building, it was the tallest skyscraper in Houston from 1929 until 1963.

The Art Deco 333 North Michigan in Chicago. Completed in 1928, 333 North Michigan has 34 floors and is 396 ft tall. It became a historic Chicago landmark in 1997.

Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With 88 floors each and at a height of 1,482.9 ft, they are the tallest twin buildings in the world. They were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004 if measured from the level of the main entrance to the structural top. The skybridge is part of the iconic status of these buildings. It is perhaps most famously remembered for being featured in the 1999 movie Entrapment featuring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Sean Connery.
