is Hoggard still doing well?we always SUCKED at football when I went there, now all of a sudden they are kicking ass

Yes, they're having an outstanding season. The schedule hasn't been that tough, but no one has given them a game all year. They are expected to be the top seed (and heavy favorite) in the 4A East, unless enrollment has increased enough to put them into the 4AA East, where they would still be the favorite. The Fantastic 50, for October 16, 20071) Independence (7-1) 152.5 (LW#1)2) Charlotte Latin (8-0) 145.3 (LW#2)3) W. what is your opinion of Leesville Rd? After they beat Sanderson fairly easily last week, what do you think the outcome of the CAP-7 will be?
10/19/2007 11:25:42 AM
Leesville is the best team in the Cap Seven; opinion is split over the best team in the area, between Garner and the Pride. I was shocked at their dismantling of Sanderson last week; the Spartans are a pretty decent team. Because Leesville is putting up a lot of points, their defense is going largely unnoticed, but it's probably the best overall defense in the area; they've given up more than seven points only twice all year. (In comparing defenses, I'd put Fuquay-Varina's run defense #1 locally, and they've also given up more than 7 points only twice, but their DBs were torched by Athens Drive.)Leesville is the odds-on favorite to take the Cap Seven, which is easily the area's strongest league, but it's far from a done deal. I have them favored by 9 points tonight against Millbrook, and 8 in the finale against WFR. The rain is a great equalizer, and Millbrook has the talent to pull the upset, if Leesville turns the ball over multiple times. With the three Cap Seven powers, plus Garner, Southeast Raleigh, and Athens Drive all likely to be high seeds in the 4AA east, Wake County football is the strongest that I've ever seen it, and there will be some terrific playoff games among that group. Home field advantage will likely be decided by draws, as there will be multiple conference champions reporting 10-0 records (one non-conf. game is dropped for teams that play eleven.) Additionally, Fuquay-Varina could win a couple of playoff games in the 4A East, which will be a much weaker bracket; I think they'll be the only Wake school in the small 4A playoffs. There are some good teams from outside of the area, and Athens Drive is capable of beating anyone, but my hunch is that Garner and Leesville will be playing in early December for the right to face Indepedence in the 4AA state championship game.

I'm not really convinced of the Cap 7 strength yet. They haven't really beaten anyone good out of conference ...Millbrook lost to garner, its only real out of conference team with a legit winning record.Leesville just beat Millbrook, and that is the only team with a winning record they have played, unless you count sanderson as a legit team (also hasn't beat a team with a good record)I think you may see garner reach the east finals and see someone out of the area playing them. There are plenty of strong teams elsewhere in the state.
10/20/2007 9:24:42 AM
Without question, there are a lot of good teams in other areas, but very few will be in the 4AA East. The 4AA West is much better overall.

Hope Cary doesn't get rained out tonight. It's homecoming and my sister is on the homecoming court as a senior. If they postpone until tomorrow nigt, I will be furious. Also, it still amazes me at the football teams who make the playoffs compared to other sports. For example, I played baseball at Cary HS and we had a good team... finished 3rd a couple of years I played varsity but only the top two made the playoffs. And our conference was loaded in baseball (Lee County, Apex, Green Hope, and Fuquay among others)... then in football they take like 5 or so teams. [Edited on October 26, 2007 at 11:56 AM. 10/26/2007 11:54:23 AM
Panther Creek @ Cary on as scheduled according to someone I just talked to at the High School. Terrell Manning's Scotland County squad plays tomorrow night so guess he won't be at the UVa game.Atleast someone appears to be playing around here tonight... GO IMPS
10/26/2007 12:07:01 PM
Playoffs in both football and baseball have been expanded in recent years, to 64 teams per class (of 90-95).Cary may be the only place playing tonight locally. Most schools are postponing to Saturday or Monday because of field conditions...Fuquay's has standing water.
10/26/2007 12:36:12 PM
I just spoke to the assist. ath. director at cary again. apparently they had a big meeting this morning and the ad decided to NOT cancel the game unless there is lightning. personally, i can't believe it. i live about 2 miles from CHS and it has been pissing here all day.i was told if they do end up cancelling, it would be played tomorrow night at 7. right in the middle of the state game.
10/26/2007 1:12:00 PM
DAMN ITCary game has been moved to tomorrow night at 7pm. What the hell do I do? My sister is a senior and on homecoming court... But do I sacrifice a NCSU football game for that?

im gonna tailgate startin at 11 for the football game and watch the 1st half, but after that im gonna head over to cary to see the sister for homecoming. damn family.cary has fuquay next week in a big conference game, so i guess they both agreed to play this weeks game tomorrow night instead of monday so they have more time to prepare for each other.
10/26/2007 5:47:27 PM
umm, we suck this year, i dont see how you could care about the ncsu game. your sister is only in this thing once, family is more important...puting sports over family is retarded.
10/26/2007 5:52:47 PM
true, it sucks. after all the baseball games she got suckered into, i figured i owe her one on one of the biggest nights of her life. damn sister.
10/26/2007 7:02:34 PM
Seriously...go and be there for your sister. There was no agreement between Cary and Fuquay about when they would each play...that's a team-by-team decision. If Fuquay beats Apex and Athens beats Middle Creek (both expected) then there won't be anything on the line for Fuquay next week; they'll finish 2nd in the Tri-Eight, win or lose.
10/26/2007 10:11:01 PM
And Cary will make the playoffs despite a horeshit record. Gotta love football playoffs.
10/27/2007 2:53:28 AM
Cary needs one more win (which they should get tonight) to be safely in. If they lose their last two, they'll be squarely on the bubble. Even if they do get in, they're looking at a first-round trip to one of the four undefeated teams in the 4AA East (Garner, Leesville, Athens Drive, and the Leesville/WFR winner). It's likely to be a short stay in the postseason, but at least they get one more week of practice, and the Imps could pull off the big upset, like they did last year at New Bern.#1 Charlotte Independence 21, #37 East Mecklenburg 7#2 Charlotte Latin 20, #13 Charlotte Country Day 13Franklin (4-5) 21, #8 Asheville (7-1) 20#8 Asheville loses to Franklin (which had a losing record), 21-20Locally, Lee County 21, Green Hope 0

any news on the athens drive game?
10/30/2007 12:45:13 AM
Middle Creek 42, Athens Drive 28 - MC pulls off the upset rather easily. I heard that it could have been worse than it was. This sets up a potential three-way tie between these two and Fuquay-Varina for the Tri-Eight championship. That could really drop the seed of Fuquay or Athens, despite likely 10-1 records, if either draws #3 and is in the same class as Middle Creek.Updated bracket projections: http://www4.ncsu.edu/~rdpasteu/football

yea i dont understand princeton in the west either?cary @ garner would be a fun first round match up. this rivalry has been stopped recently and the only way it can happen is if they meet up in the playoffs. hope it works out this way.

10/30/2007 10:21:07 AM
Without a doubt.
10/30/2007 10:31:27 AM
^^yeah, I'd think so.The NCHSAA gets a cut of playoff game ticket sales. so more teams=more games=more $$
10/30/2007 1:27:01 PM
Rolesville is a town with a total of 7 stoplights, so it's really Wake Forest instead of Rolesville for short.
10/30/2007 2:03:03 PM
Princeton in the West and other screwy stuff happens every year, because they split up the 64 teams in each class into groups of 32 by enrollment (1A - 1AA, etc.), then split each group of 32 into two groups of 16 geographically. The smallest schools (1A) are mostly in the eastern third of the state, so a few of them get sent to the mountains to have 16 teams for a 1A west bracket.Check out some of the previous years' 1A brackets...http://www.gobiggreen.net/NCHSAA/2000-2007%201A.htmAlso, it's possible that a 10-1 Athens Drive or 10-1 Fuquay-Varina team could get sent on the road in the first round, thanks to those #@#%#@ three-way draws for conference championships, combined with the NCHSAA seeding a 5-5 conference champ ahead of a 10-1 runner-up.
10/30/2007 2:18:17 PM
Are Nick DeMuro (Athens QB) or Thomas Wilson (Leesville QB) getting any college attention? They seem to be two of the better HS QB's in the triangle area in a few years... I'm sure they are getting some small college love, but do either have a shot at D1?
10/30/2007 2:21:30 PM
Thomas Wilson and Taylor Gentry (QB and WR from Leesville Road) both are playing in the shrine bowl. So maybe they will get some interest
10/30/2007 4:08:30 PM
bucky brooks (si.com) was pushing the wfr-leesville game on 850 today...he is millbrook grad but his dad coaches at wfr so his allegiance has shifted
10/30/2007 5:21:16 PM
I'm surprised the Demuro and the athens WR TJ Kornahay (sp?) get no college attention. Kornahay leads the state in receiving.
