^^Yeah, I saw that question the first time.I've never lived in Charlotte cause it fucking sucks. How bout y'all tell me more about the fancy stores y'all got? Maybe you could elaborate more on just how big it is and just how many bars there are? Or perhaps you could tell me more about all the money...it's all so interesting and exciting.Cause, you know, the whole curing-diseases-and-developing-new-technologies thing we do out in RTP is just lame. All that groundbreaking research...BORING.^I know my history when it comes to desegregation and how Charlotte fit in then and how it fits in now. It's a big issue of mine, and that's how I know Charlotte schools suck in that regard. Check it yourself. And you don't want to compare school systems here cause Wake County wins by almost every standard.

CHARLOTTE FUCKING BLOWS*EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS TERRIBLE*ITS A SHITTY PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK AND RAISE A FAMILY**note: i've never lived there

that vatican city has a population density of 1,866/square kmobviously the vatican city is the biggest country/city in the entire world

7/26/2007 5:06:43 PM
Why do you say Raleigh blows? It's okay to criticize a place without living there, but you gotta have decent reasons. You guys are the ones gettin all defensive. Is that cause Wake County almost always beats you on the best-places-to-live charts?
7/26/2007 5:12:32 PM
no one is getting defensive except the raleigh people.i mean, go re-read some of your postsits penis envy, really, and its kind of funny. you raleigh people and your small town, you're all so cute![Edited on July 26, 2007 at 5:15 PM. You keep saying that. You've never lived there! You don't know what you're talking about! I've lived in Raleigh so I can back myself up! But you're not saying anything else while I've said quite a bit.And I don't even need to say shit...Wake Country regularly wins the best-place-to-live fight. I don't really take those rankings to heart, but it cannot go unmentioned in a thread like this.Just cause TreeTwista can't stand the stereotypes, I'll repeat this fore I leave:
7/26/2007 5:35:39 PM
raleigh resident: "HAY, HAY, HAAAAAAAAY LOOK AT ME!!!! RALEIGH IS COOL TOO GUYZ! GUYYZZZZZZ"
7/26/2007 5:37:50 PM
jwb, that's twice now that you've shown you don't get it.We're the ones who were always highest in the ranking. We're the ones who were always getting the attention. So, no, we don't have penis envy, and we don't desperately need people to acknowledge us...we get plenty of that as it is.
7/26/2007 5:43:16 PM
yeahthat's why there's a new thread trying to hype raleigh every month.because you guys are the best and you know it and you never feel the need to somehow justified your little town's existenceyep, that's itwhy are you even still posting in this thread. you have no business posting in here. your opinion of charlotte holds absolutely no weight[Edited on July 26, 2007 at 5:54 PM. if only bridget had a single legit reason then it would be fine...but as it currently stands she clealry doesnt know shit about charlotte...im still curious as to where she got her ideas about charlotte...did you visit friends there? do you have friends from there that told you about it? what exactly is it that you dislike about charlotte? cause right now everybody can see that you're just an idiot

2 cents:i grew up in charlotte, went to state for 5 years, moved back to charlotte for a job and i've been back for a year now.i couldnt wait to get out of raleigh after 5 years, i've been to a lot more bars here in a year than i have in raleigh for 5 (saucer, mitchs, sammys, ri rahs, ...jax?, you get the point). felt like i was going to the same places over and over again.charlotte is more of a "professional's town" whereas raleigh is the "college town." granted uncc sucks compared to the likes of state, unc, and duke. but raleigh's professional opportunities blow in comparison to charlotte's. BofA, Wachovia >>>>>>>>> RBC in just one industry example.the sports teams are big too, namely the panthers, thats a huge plus for CLT. the bobcats suck and dont really have a hardcore fanbase, just socialites who like to be seen at games so theyre about equal in improving the "city-ness" like the 'canes do for raleigh. stanley cup champs, indeed awesome, but its a smaller fanbase over the whole of the country since NBA > NHL.not a well thought out arguement, just naming shit that comes to mind.oh yea and 485 pwns 440edit: and how about one more way to look at the populations?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_census_statistical_areas[Edited on July 27, 2007 at 6:36 PM. Raleigh cracks the Top 50 most populated cities in the U.S. List. We are the 9th most populated city in the south.Last year we surpassed Tampa, Fla., Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and St. Louis in population!!
7/28/2007 10:38:53 PM
What he's saying is a much larger area is always considered when talking about Charlotte so the population numbers are higher than they should be while Raleigh is more of a "big city" because it has much more density....and he's right

population density is what makes a city. if i call montanna a city its going to be a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge city with lots of people but boise is still a bigger city than montanna. Same goes for Raleigh with Charlotte.

8/2/2007 6:32:28 PM
Alright according to wikipedia Wake County has a population density of 291/km² in 2007. Mecklenburg County according to wikipedia has a population density of 510/km² in 2000. I tried to find a Mecklenburg report for 2007, but I couldn't right now. If 7 years ago it was 510, i'm sure it's much MUCH higher now. So there's some more facts on population density.
8/3/2007 10:39:50 AM
this really bothers you, doesnt it?
8/3/2007 10:40:36 AM
^haha no not really, most people accept the fact that Charlotte is a much bigger city than Raleigh. Almost 100% of online lists, census facts, etc etc put Charlotte MUCH bigger (like 500k on most lists) bigger than Raleigh. Not to mention most online lists tag Raleigh as a "medium sized city" and Charlotte as a "large" city. It's just the few people on this thread still try to argue that Raleigh is somehow "bigger" than Charlotte, and it amuses me.
8/3/2007 10:43:15 AM
8/3/2007 11:25:43 AM
Yeah providence, Rhode Island has a population of 175,255 with a density of 9,473/sq mi (3,666/km²) while LA has a pop. of 3,849,378 and a pop. density of 2,005/sq mi (3,165/km²).Providence IS NOT A BIGGER CITY THAN LA YOU IDIOTS. Judging city size on pop. density is so retarted.
8/3/2007 11:35:30 AM
What are you people trying to say with those above links? Its pretty obvious that the correlation he's making with a higher population density is that its more like a big city in that regard. Which is true. Thats just one regard though.
8/3/2007 1:25:41 PM
8/3/2007 1:29:59 PM
I'm not trying to argue that he's right, lol. But sometimes a more compact city can see more "big" just through local perception. It doesn't work for raleigh & charlotte though.
8/3/2007 1:35:00 PM
Either way his argument doesn't make any sense though. Charlotte's pop. density is 2,515.7/sq mi and Raleigh's pop density is 2,674.80/sq mi but Charlotte has a city limit area of 280.5 sq mi while Raleighs city limits are only 134.34 sq mi. So lets look at this logically. The pop density of Charlotte is from an area more than twice as large as the area they take for Raleighs pop. density. So obviously if you take a smaller cut of a city it's pop. density might be higher. Look at the numbers, the pop. densities are almost the same, whereas Charlotte's city limits are twice that of Raleigh's. So if we REALLY wanted to take a logical look at pop. density we'd have to take a SAME SIZE cut of each city, and looking at the numbers i'm sure Charlotte would probably more than double the pop. density of Raleigh. I know from experience that downtown Charlotte probably has more people in one or two buildings than Raleigh has in it's ENTIRE downtown as TreeTwista10 pointed out. It's stupid to compare two different pop. densities when the city limits are completely different. You'd have to compare the same square milage and THEN take a look at the population density. Remember it's an average of people per square mile, so obviously if you take a chunk of land more than twice the size, you might get a smaller pop. density.
8/3/2007 2:05:55 PM
Treetwista is silly. He's comparing cities of 3 million to cities of 100k. This comparison obvioulsy only works when comparing two cities that are similar and both the main city in their area. and if you take charlottees city limits down to 140 you're going to lose 1/3rd of its population. Everythingg is skewed. don't even look at county or metro area because when they say metro area of charlotte they are talking about an area about 4 times the size as raleigh's. The only way to do it is to compare Charlotte's city population to Raleigh's metro area and you get Raleigh unless you want to do metro areas and include johnson franklin harnett orange durham and a bunch of other places like they do for charlotte.I'm also pretty sure the largest two buildings in downtown charlotte don't have more people than downtown raleigh because they aren't THAT much bigger than the two buildings in Raleigh and the rest of them are enough to catch raleigh up. In five years Raleighs downtown will catch up anyway and its only behind because all the buildings are in rtp which doesn't count in the raleigh numbers btw.
