^Damn you I was just about to post that.Anyway, from the original post:"From the trailer you can tell this is going to be something unique, maybe even on the same scale as the Blair Witch Project."This makes me want to avoid this movie as much as possible. Blair Witch might have been unique, but it was also really bad.
1/8/2008 11:00:53 PM
blair witch was not "really bad"

Where's the damned monster already?
1/9/2008 3:21:23 AM
the supposedly fake 'fan art' of the whale-like sea creature may actually be worth investigating again*link may contain spoilershttp://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/showthread.php?t=602685
1/9/2008 4:10:44 AM
^ two conflicting descriptions of the monster in that link. One puts it as that whale beast we've all seen before and the other sounds closer to that supposed "toy" prototype with the one big horn, maybe.I personally like the whale beast with the crab lice, I just wish the face was a bit more menacing. Whales aren't exactly expressive or scary.[Edited on January 9, 2008 at 6:29 AM. Reason : ]

i hope most of those reviews are hoaxes. a lot of what's described doesn't sound like a PG-13 movie.
1/9/2008 8:23:48 AM
it's a bear - A GIANT ONE!
1/9/2008 8:55:16 AM
It's funny how all these hoaxes and rumors get debunked, die, and brought back to life weeks later. I think I first read that review over my Christmas break. This forum keeps up with all this shit pretty well.http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=232[Edited on January 9, 2008 at 9:02 AM. i wouldnt be mad if it was one of those "never show the monster" flickscause I got a feeling it would be a letdown or some real shitty CGIi want to read that review thoouugggghhhhh

Is it me or does the mock up monster from cloverfield look like the monster on the JR Theme on your Igoogle homepage?
1/9/2008 3:47:15 PM
So there is now a pretty legit "review" of the movie up on the forums. Some kid drew a picture of the monster based on the reviewers description, and it's pretty accurate according to the reviewer. So here it is, the Cloverfield monster. SPOILER - DO NOT CLICK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKEhttp://i8.tinypic.com/6tunds9.pngHere is the link to the actual review.http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=23357And to another article describing some of the production ideas behind the monster.http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/01/09/cloverfield-building-a-better-monster/[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 9:54 AM. i am going to watch this tomorrow night (pays to have a brother in radio). i am fucking pumped
1/14/2008 11:23:23 PM
I'm going tonight to a sneak, I can't wait since, thus far, I've been able to avoid any spoilers including what the monster looks like.
1/15/2008 12:11:19 PM
yeah i have kept away from any spoilers, damn i can't wait till 7:30 tonight
1/15/2008 3:34:18 PM
how do you get the sneak previews?
1/15/2008 3:50:38 PM
i got it through my brother who works with a radio station here in charlotte, and has other connections through CBS radio and Clear Channel. i hate the station he works with but i love the perks
1/15/2008 3:52:56 PM
I work with a lot of different entertainment outlets, getting promo materials and passes is pretty standard
1/15/2008 4:04:07 PM
Shaking cameraFuck that.you kids have fun with this.
1/15/2008 5:19:40 PM
Just saw it, I'll give you more details tomorrow, but it was amazing. And if you are looking for spoilers, don't, it will be so much more awesome if you don't know. It does live up to the hype, very very impressed.

yeah, i kindof want to say more, but then i don't. I've been looking on some spoiler websites to see if anyone is or was close in their guessing. No one has posted a real picture that i've seen yet or even anything accurate as far as the monsters looks go, you really just can't explain it. A couple posts up Shrike's stuff is fairly close if you really have to spoil it for yourself, but even that stuff is pretty far off. The article is really good though and seems to be on point. Just know that if your reading this thread, you're probably a fanboy, and i really don't think you'll be disappointed. So sleep peacefully knowing that JJ Abrams wasn't dragging us along for nothing, this is a monster movie done in a way that is an experience. I felt like I was a kid. For a review that has some plot spoilers but is on point, read Harry Knowles' review on aintitcoolnews.com, I'd have to agree with him.
1/15/2008 10:05:51 PM
1/15/2008 11:14:51 PM
So do you actually get to see the monster? If not, I'll wait until it comes out on dvd.
1/16/2008 9:39:23 AM
you see it, you've also got to realize, this is shot first person from someone like any of us. the views really reflect that as you'd want to get good shots, but you're not a pro, and you're running for your life. But I will say without spoiling anything, you will get multiple good shots and one amazing long shot that will satisfy you.
1/16/2008 11:39:52 AM
^ how much did J.J. pay you?
1/16/2008 11:43:48 AM
dude, it so sounds that way doesn't it. i'm being very real when i say this movie made me feel like a little kid who is just really excited. from the marketing mystery to the final product, i love it. i don't care if no one takes my word for it, i don't expect you to agree with me, i know some people will find every reason to hate the movie. i'm just saying it was a great ride that i personally really enjoyed. hopefully everyone can let go of reality for a little and just enjoy it.
1/16/2008 11:51:05 AM
I'm just kidding. You've got me excited to see it, I figured with all the hype the typical review would have been something like "it was good, but not as good as I thought."You've got me bumping this up to seeing it the 2nd weekend it is out, from my original plan of the 1.50. If I don't like it you owe me 6.25.
1/16/2008 11:55:12 AM
i'm telling everyone now, if you are expecting a first person monster movie, guess what, you win. you have to realize that it's exactly what you've heard: found tape of a first person experience of the incident. this is like the third time i'm saying it, but if you're spoiler fishing, you should really do yourself a favor and experience it all in the theater, in fact, stay away from the internets.and titans, if you're interested enough to read this thread, you're probably going to like it, i'll be shocked if you don't. So for someone who isn't a "JJ" fan, never read anything about this movie, and just stumbled into this thread....Is it a good movie? Will the average person like it? What is it closest to?
1/16/2008 12:36:52 PM
my wife has seen the commercials, but other than that, nothing. she loved it. she wasn't even really excited to see it and had no idea what it was about, also, she literally said, oh, i thought this was a godzilla movie, so yeah, if she really liked it, so will most people. and it's really not a lot like any other movie, because the focus is on random people just caught in the panic, nothing like most movies
1/16/2008 1:43:26 PM
fucking hypewagon...[hops on board]I was planning on seeing it regardless, but the way it's got you raving is has to be somewhat good......now I'm just excited!! thanks for the input kafox and lunch
1/16/2008 3:52:13 PM
Sure this isn't one of those "diehards that were pumped to see the movie and would never be critical of it anyway coming out of the theater on a high because they get to brag about seeing it before everyone else - just to later change their minds after general release once the overwhelming reviews start coming in saying how much it sucked" scenarios?
1/16/2008 4:41:31 PM
yeah there is another viewing in charlotte tonight, and i am going again. rumors it might get cancelled though, damn i hope not.this movie is great, even if you hate monster movies you still gotta give this a shot, it isn't like anyother monster movie you have ever seen. it is Godzilla, meets Blair Witch, meets September 11th(yeah no shit)
1/16/2008 4:41:59 PM

^^ resisting the temptation...but I have to give it to ya TWW...I've been able to look at this thread straight up until the day before (without clicking on anything) and haven't had the movie completely spoiled...it's actually the opposite of what I'd expect from Tdub...my hat is off to you
1/17/2008 10:06:58 AM
^just wait
1/17/2008 10:12:39 AM
gif on unfiction isn't working either. I did find this though, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G5tuUXenV8 It's a scene in the subway taken off screen. You can kinda see the little monsters, but with the combined shaky-cam of the movie and the shaky-cam of the guy recording off screen it is hard to get a solid look.[Edited on January 17, 2008 at 10:56 AM. I've seen a lot of actual stuff that's been leaked today, so if you don't want to spoil it for yourself, i really suggest staying away from it all, seriously. It's best to see the monster and everything the right way, not on the tiny screen from a camera phone. But yeah, if you are spoiling it for yourself, some real stuff is out there now, beware.
