this movie was really good right up until daniel went to the town's real estate office to inquire about property, and the homeless guy from Dirty work was there,

ruined the whole film

I didn't know that until I found this

-In an interview on the National Public Radio program "Fresh Air with Terry Gross," Paul Dano told Gross that he had originally been cast in the much smaller role of Paul Sunday, Eli's brother, and another actor had been cast as Eli. However, after Dano had already started filming his one scene as Paul Sunday, Paul Thomas Anderson decided to replace the actor playing Eli. Anderson then asked Dano to play Eli Sunday (a much bigger role) as well as Paul Sunday, and they decided to change the film to make the brothers identical twins. Anderson asked Dano to play Eli on a Thursday, and filming for the role began four days later, on the next Monday. Daniel Day-Lewis, by contrast, had a whole year to prepare to play Daniel Plainview-

Finally saw this. Thought it was decent. Wish I could walk into a movie by a good director that doesn't try to illustrate some powerful metaphor though.

I also thought NCFOM was better, so the best picture was a good call this year.

I’ve found that the quality of a film is inversely proportional to my urge to check the progress bar. I checked it three times for this movie; it just would not end.

I guess that means you're the kind of douche nozzle who's checking his phone for the time every 30 minutes. Maybe you just don't have the maturity and patience needed to watch a movie.

this sounds like a job for KngDouchebag.

and as an aside, this was the best movie i'd seen probably since the departed (including no country), but that title has since been taken by the assassination of jesse james by the coward robert ford.

^ i want to see that....i just need the netflixes

twbb was an amazing film. i'm reading the book. its not that bad either. goes much like the film, so if you felt the film dragged, so will the book. it doesn't really stick to the book, but the way sinclair writes, he puts in a lot of detail and dialogue that draw things out. i think this is interesting, but it may be dull to others.

Wow, I hate to say this considering how much I was looking forward to this movie, but I couldn't even finish it. Haven't come across a movie this slow with nothing happening in it in a long time. Such a shame, because the acting was top notch.

^^I beg to differ.

The movie was just boring and lacking.

Other than the superb acting, there just wasn't much there.

Art was great
Acting was great
story wasn't entertaining as a whole, but it had good moments.

i didn't really like it, but only because i value the big picture.

ACTUALLY, there's a movie that has both large, morphing machines and explosions. Plus the chicks in it are super hot.

It's called "Transformers," and I think you should check it out.

this movie has the best build up to an ending i might have ever seen and I did laugh when he said "I'm finished" and the credits rolled

the more I think about it this movie was awesome

"I've abandoned my boy" - that scene was great

I was never sure if he was faking it in that scene or not. You could argue that he was a complete sociopath, but the little flashback to him laughing with young HW after he disowns makes me scratch my head.

The only person that he really lets in is Henry, and thats solely because he thinks that he's family. You could make the case that he's only sincere with family and as such he never cared about HW.
